Can I ask what advertising was done for this??
I cannot find it anywhere except on the AEBBA site, within this County.
Unfortunately I cannot enter this as I am away, but maybe others may have, who knows???...provided at present, that they have the internet and use the AEBBA site to know that it is on.
Had I not been on Pro-boards 30 site... Had I not been on the AEBBA site... Had I not been at the various 'Opens' ...
then I would not have known about the various tournaments and dates including this one.
To gain interest in Bar Billiards Opens surely there is a need to advertise, which means through all media including print and not just relying on the internet and at competitions (assuming you are at the right one at the right time)

Well Chris,
This is slightly different tournament than the others that you see advertised on the AEBBA website in that it is run by a County and not by the AEBBA itself.
At the moment the county running it is Surrey, but that is not to say that it has to be Surrey for all eternity. (Future availability of venues could become a governing factor.)
For a number of years Surrey have had a free spot in their calendar of weekend events to stage it, so have been happy to do so.
The response of entrants from other counties has been so good that it has given stature to the event and the AEBBA have embraced it as a Ranking competition.
But enough about its history...................
Up until last year, all Ladies who have been known to be interested have received a courtesy e-Mail or phone-call by way of an invite - from the Redhill Secretary or Chairperson. However we had a change of personnel on the committee for this year, and somewhere along the line the 'master list' of contact details has become misplaced. ::)
The Forum, with my obviously rather ineffectual efforts, is used as a back-up, and it was hoped that through this medium the news can reach the likes of yourself - and for example Janie McCoy of Kent, who has been a regular in the competition.
The committee apologise for the loss of the contact list, and, hopefully this can be rectified - with next year in mind - when the actual event takes place next Sunday.

as said before - we only knew at the ladies one day interleague, but thanks to the 'forceful persuasion' from Denise Wills (and others) - I entered ! (Denise yer a bully !!.. ;D ;) not really :D but thank you !)
I had seen it on the calendar/ diary of events but knew nothing about it.
I suppose I will have to make the most of it as I'm pretty sure I'm not on the hit-list. sorry - contact list !! ;D ;D

Thank you Clive... fully appreciate the history and update.
Any person that organises any event is worth their weight in gold. I know how hard it is having done the Portsmouth Open for many years a long time ago.
Maybe a few flyers would attract entrants that would not normally enter, possibly even non-league players, who knows.
So rather than moan...and being pro-active
I offer to any league the printing and sending free, of an A4 or A3 poster times 20 per county posted to their secretary, provided they get the format to me by email and only requiring priniting, This will then enable them to advertise their event to all leagues and maybe attract new players.
Of course I will need all league secretary's addresses..if this happens
I can do colour on A4 at present and black and white at A4 and A3...
Thanks for the answer Clive Chris
PS Colleen.. glad they bullied you into entering... so you should at your high standard!!!

Thank you Chris,
I have passed this on to the organisers, and hopefully other counties will also read it and learn of your kind offer.
A new 'list of contacts' will be gleaned together at the event.
The Draw and list of Rules, etc. for this year's competition is given on the corresponding thread on the Surrey board.
