I have just sent a message to the Reaper, thus:
It's true! Lorraine Hall became BIOC Ladies Champ today up in Redhill, adding the title to the Sussex Ladies Singles Championship which she won back in January.
You can read all about it on the Surrey Board.
Other notable performances by our Mid Sussex Ladies: Main Competition Quarter-finalists: Jenny Edwards; Colleen Park. Plate Semifinalist: Ros Appleby.
Hayley Tunstall (Semi-Finalist, main competition) and Sandra Race (Plate Winner) are also occasional players in the Mid Sussex league for Bob Hall's Hurst 'A' team.

Congratulations Ladies, all of of whom have a lot to be proud of, but of course a huge huge huge well done to Mama Hall for a sterling performance beating three England players on the way!

Congratulations to Lorraine on a superb performance today.....!! ;D
A fantastic achievement adding the British Ladies title to the Sussex Ladies Singles title that she won just 3 months ago. 8-)
Mid-Sussex were certainly very well represented in the quarter-finals of the main competition with Jenny and Colleen both playing well to reach that stage, with Hurst A "supersub" Lady H making the semi-finals on her birthday. 8-)
Another occasional "supersub", Sandra Race, made sure that she took home some silverware to go with Mr Reaper's (make sure he uses his pink duster to keep it clean! ;D) and Ros reached the Plate Semi-Finals.
Well played the Mid-Sussex Heroines...... ;D ;D

Last time I spoke to you, you were very down about your game. You then beat me and have not looked back. I myself however, have not won since then. Very well done. Shaun

Not difficult to find a Mid Sussex Heroine from the Surrey Open played yesterday: this honour must go to Colleen Park who made it to the last 16 of the Main Competition. After receiving a first round Bye, Colleen defeated Kent's Tony Brown before taking on Mama Hall in Round 3. It was Colleen who triumphed over BIOC Champion Lorraine in a very close match. Surrey's Tony Cross turned out to be a bridge too far, but the last 16 place should earn some coveted National Ranking points. Of the ladies present only Jean Brackenridge also reached this stage.
Mid Sussex Ladies were well represented in the Surrey Open with Lynne Moyes-Robb, Sandra Race, Margo Thompson, Hayley Tunstall, Nikki Hinkins and Ros Appleby all registered players who took part.

Well done to everyone for a great day but especially Tommo for getting that far (need a heroes thread !?), and thanks to Mama Hall for a great game - we both battled hard with table 10 til I showed it who was boss. well, until I was back on the break anyway !! ::)
see you all soon and best wishes to Shiela to get well soon. x

Once again we have Mid Sussex Heroines, this time in the 2009 Berkshire Open (write-up extract below courtesy of BB Warrior): ......a very high quality field in the Plate as well, with Steven Sheard showing dad how to win by beating Chris Reeves in the Final after Steven had beaten Dave Tooke and Chris had beaten Colleen Park in the semi's.
Keith did at least have the consolation of the highest break with the only 20k break on the day, with Sandra Race taking the honours for the Ladies with both the Highest Break (4k+ in a very close game with Mark Brewster) and furthest Lady. ;)
