As you will all be aware by now both Dave Barnes and myself are stepping down at this year's AGM in December.
However, I have no worries because there has been so much said on this web site by a number of people that there should be sufficient interest in replacing us ......... but are they really serious???
I was speaking to Dave last night so imagine my surprise when he said he has received no proposals to discuss and that the person being lined up as his replacement is having second thoughts............. but are they really serious.
I have read pages of comments from a number of people on how they think the AEBBA committee has done little or nothing over the last few years and needs changing .............. but are they really serious.
They has been talk of clearing up the confusion in our competitions, updating our rule book and ensuring we secure the future of our tables ...... but are they serious.
Three things I would ask:
1. f you have a proposal get it in early so that David can circulate them around the counties in order to inform debate. 2. Make sure you all get to the AGM and voice your concerns and stand for election. 3. Keep this thread to the point and do not go off at right angles talking about someone's sex life or your favourite football team.
See you all at the AGM (even those who say they have been turning up and haven't ............. are they really serious!)
Keith AEBBA Treasurer.

KBBA proposal on rules was emailed to Dave on Oct 30th.
I will ring him to get him to check his emails!!
I am, unfortunately, in the wrong place to offer to be AEBBA Sec.
Chris.

Keith, I understand your comments and probable concerns on the replacement of Dave and yourself. I wonder how many people ( I know I don't) know what the AEBBA actually does, and what the role is of each of the posts are for example. With the game getting increasingly smaller, and I stand by your statement that somehow we have to preserve it for as long as possible, how is the AEBBA doing anything on these lines. Not trying to be controvercial as I don't know how the AEBBA works but is the AEBBA needed today is I suppose the question. Most Opens are run or can be by the local association anyway, so where does the AEBBA fit in ?
Picking of an England team seems to me the obvious time when an independant group is required but can you or anyone explain what also has to be discussed that you can make differences to? Coming back to the posts that need filling, I guess for logistic reasons they really need to be fairly central due to travel, so would most likely have to be Reading/Oxon based.
Can someone please give some sensible answers, as it may encourage people to come forward too.
I repeat I am asking because I do not know 'only' and adding my thoughts.

I believe I know one person who would be prepared to do the Treasurer's job as has already been indicated on this forum some weeks ago.
No travelling would be required really.
The current treasurer is rarely seen at any event, and gets all the necessary accounts after each AE event.
The chap once stating he would do the Secretary's job is only really interested in helping to set the tables up in Reading, and may not be considered a particularly great choice to be the actual Secretary.
Keith: Please do not feel that nothing has been attempted to find these replacements. A message has been included in the last few BBQs, and calls have been made on this forum before.

Pete,
I hope I am wrong, I know you have been highlighting the issues for some time now and hope that when crunch comes to crunch we find replacements even though some people do not think it a worthwhile exercise.

Is it possible to E-mail people outside the Bar Billiards forum to see if they are interested? This forum isn't used by every Bar Billiards player, plus some users are no longer active!
This is a very important issue to be honest, so I guess we all need to come up with some ideas, so we can find replacements ASAP.
