Hi Chris,
I'm a bit strange, which won't come as a huge surprise.
I play billiards left-handed and also write left-handed. I'm left-footed at football. I play cricket and golf right-handed and throw with my right hand with the exception of bowling at cricket. The only thing I'm truly ambidextrous at is badminton.
Regards,
Vinny

Chris is as strange as Vinny... playing many things both left and right handed except bar billiards which he plays left handed...
Always wondered why we break to the right of the red... find it hard to reverse ... maybe as we read left to right...
Don't worry Vinny I am as strange in wanting to know little trivia pieces such as this.. ;D ;)

I used to be completely ambidexterous, although I wrote left-handed, until I had a serious motorbike accident in 1979. During the 4 months that I had in hospital, I became so used to doing everything right handed that I have stayed that way ever since.
Does that make me even more wierd that Vinny....?? :o :-[ ;D
It was during the recovery period after I came out of hospital that I first started to play bar billiards, so I have always played right handed, even though I had a break of 25+ years from the game and only really started playing regularly 3.5 years ago. 8-)

Medical research has proved that left and right are governed by certain parts of the brain, and dominance of one side or the other can be a hereditary trait: My son, for instance, is left-handed - which he got from his mother.
I think I am naturally right-handed, but like BBW had to train myself to use my left hand to write with when I broke my arm as a kid and it was in plaster for a long time.
So I am more or less ambidextrous, could bat right or left handed at cricket and if I'm doing something like scraping wallpaper (last week !) when one hand gets tired I just switch to the other. ;)
And I've been known to switch to left-handed at bar billiards if the shots weren't going in the other way ! :o

Left handed, my great grandad is the only person in my family that i know of, that is left handed.
However I hold a knife and folk right handed, play tennis right handed, play cricket right handed play football right footed.
Bar Billiards and wrighting is the only left handed things I do.

Dave I expect you are the same as Vinny !! only joking...
Some many years ago teachers tried to change students who were left handed... not now...
I truly believe that those who are left handed can do many things right handed as well... not all but the majority...
Next Question is does the Reverse or left handed break come more naturally to you as left handers than it does to us right handers???
just thinking of my next piece of research

Next Question is does the Reverse or left handed break come more naturally to you as left handers than it does to us right handers??? just thinking of my next piece of research Hi Chris My team-mate Jon Bamsey is left-handed and he certainly finds the left-handed break as awkward and unnatural as the rest of us. He was trying to do it at Eynsham finals night on Saturday on a pig of a table and markedly not succeeding! I remember those scoundrels from Northants, when they first joined the County scene, ALWAYS had their home games on tables on which you could only get the break left-handed. It wasn't done deliberately of course.... ;D cheers Tony

Right handed mostly. Can play billiards left handed, I do when I play against Lady H :-*
If a table becomes almost impossible to break naturally, I will switch to playing the reverse way, switching back to play the one up and split shots. It has proved very usful ;)
