Windmill 5 Marine View A 0
Gina Sherratt 2,890 - 1,930* John Hayes John had a few chances but a good comeback from Gina with a late 2k+ break after she had black pegged earlier in the game when in the lead. 1-0 ;)
Dave Ingram 8,930* - 1,340 Bepo A couple of breaks proved enough to clinch it. 2-0 ;)
Charlie Cooper 1,740 - 940* Steve Oliver Very scrappy game, Charlie lost the best break (1.5k) with a total miscue only for Steve to do the same right at the end of the game when he had nearly caught up. :o 3-0
Alan Messer 2,820* - 630 Dave Catchpole Alan hit the split too thick and the balls then stayed at the back of the table for a long time. Alan got a small break later in the game and always kept in front. 4-0 ;)
Mick Pope 6,980 - 2,310 Matt Mason Even breaks in this game and a well worked 2k opener from Matt, Mick hit has opening shot short and then missed the next shot, but Mick was first to get the break back and touched on 5k and had enough time to add 1.8k later in the best game of the night. 5-0 ;)
Many thanks to the 'Shoes for their hospitality and plenty of sarnies.... an enjoyable evening in good company. ;)

Three Horseshoes 5 Schooner A 0
Comprehensive win for the Shoes on a tricky but playable Romans top
Lolly 8,240 v 2,460 Big TJ - Tony never got going and Chris had a couple of useful breaks to start the ball rolling.
Sir KT 7,020 v 2,350 Steve A. - I opened with a massive 500 but Steve couldn`t get the balls back. Any luck that was going in the first 3 games unfortunately fell to us and I made a couple of breaks for the second point.
Ian 5,020 v 1,360 Molly - Terry kicked off with about 900 and that was about all he could keep. Ian made the game safe with a 3k break.
Bigjimsilverfox 13,870 v 210 Rick - Did I say the table was tricky??? Jim played it brilliantly and gave Rick no chance with an 8k opener and then added another 5k.
Chocie 4,530 v 470 Bill - Stu opened with about 3k and kept his nose in front all the way.
Sounds like a repeat of last year`s final with the Marquis B beating their A side. Close match by all accounts, hopefully someone will put a report on later.

Nobby Clark Memorial Consolation Plate final
Windmill v Swan A @ the Three Horseshoes
Thursday 24th September [/i][/quote] A match that kept us all on the Edge of our seats until the very last ball.....!! :o Gina Sherratt 2,610 - 5,950* Pete Mansfield A well worked 3.5k opener from Pete, Gina got the balls back straight away for 1.5k but Pete played a solid game after that to maintain his lead. 0-1 :( Charlie Cooper 150* - 3,700 Chris Scott A couple of useful little breaks from Charlie gave him a comfortable 3.5k lead with less than 5 minutes to play...... :D ..... only for disaster to strike as he clipped the black peg going up the middle of the table.... :o .... Chris got the break back straight away and did enough to take the victory. 0-2 :'( Dave Ingram 5,160 - 3,610* Ron Brewer Ron left his first one up short and I replied with about 4k. Balls stayed at the back for a while, Ron got the break back but was off at about 2k and I managed to keep my distance after that. 1-2 ;) Alan Messer 4,700* - 440 John Hayward A bit of a scratchy start for Alan, but he gained a reasonable lead with a couple of breaks. John started to come back into the match only to copy Charlie and clip the black peg going up the middle leaving Alan with a comfortable win. 2-2 ;) So, into the decider we went.... Edge Butler v Vernon Black Vern broke first and opened with 1.2k, Edge replied with just over 1k. The game then got very scrappy with several balls up the middle and the others in awkward places. Both players had plenty of visits to the table but neither were able to score more than a couple of hundred points and the balls stayed where they were! Edge managed to gain a lead of about 500 and shifted the tough balls only for Vern to get the break back just as the bar dropped.... 2 minutes earlier than any of the other games! :o Vern scored 700, giving him a lead of 180, but left the last ball short of the 100 hole. Edge potted it straight into the 200 hole to seal the win for the Windmill. ;D ;D Edge Butler 2,370 - 2,350 Vernon Blake Many thanks to the Three Horseshoes for their hospitality and lots of delicious hot dogs and chips, SirKT who presided over the evening and kindly scored the last game, Lady H for presenting the trophies to both teams and to our opponents the Swan A, as gracious in defeat as they ever are in victory, for a very enjoyable evening in good company. ;D ;D
