Swan B 4 Windmill 1
Roger Taylor 11,580 - 3,650* Dave Ingram A nice 8k+ break from Roger on his second visit to the table after I had messed up a 100/30 split when I had reached about 3.5k.... Roger then knocked in some more to finish the game off. ::) 1-0
Brian Richards 5,710 - 8,740 Alan Messer Brian opened with about 5k but couldn't follow that up on his next couple of visits, Alan ran in a well worked 8,190 break to run the table out and level the scores. 1-1 ;D
Barry Holt 8,810 - 1,490* Gina Sherratt Gina off at just over 1k, Barry got the break back but missed a ball by one of the pegs to lose his score. Gina hit it, but knocked the peg over and gave Barry the break back for a winning score. 2-1 :'(
Matt Squire 8,390* - 3,310 Charlie Cooper A very steady 8k opener from Matt proved to be enough to seal the match. 3-1 ;)
Phil Oakley 2,430 - 2,390* Edge Butler Neither player really got going in this game, Edge was in the lead for a long time but Phil knocked in the biggest break of the game (about 800) near the end and was about 300 down when the bar went. A couple of good shots and the last ball in the 100 hole to steal the game. 4-1 :'(
Enjoyable evening with the Swan team, who were deserving winners on the night.... we just don't seem to be able to get the hang of the table here..... ??? :-[

Atlas 5 - 0 Swan A
Steve Mariner 11,330 - 3380 Chris Scott Grant Tully 11,100 - 880 Terry Denyer Geoff Jukes 10,880 - 2050 Pete Mansfield Martin Smith 16180 - 0 John Hayward Ian Lelliott 9960 - 5050 Ron Brewer
Your reporter watched from the bench as the rebranded champions (pub formerly known as Stadium) displayed none of the anticipated cobwebs in dispatching a Swan A side depleted by the absence of Dave France in Australia.
Game 1 - Chris opened with 3k+, Mario's first visit failed to retrieve the break, but his second yielded a winning 9k. It was to prove the only game of the night not won at first hit.
Game 2 - Grant failed to open with his usual 10k & touch, but it was 9k+, leaving Terry no chance.
Game 3 - Geoff was similarly decisive when he got to the table.
Game 4 - Martin Smith's 16,180 break & score was a run-out.
Game 5 - Ron was off very cheaply, Ian made 9960 at his only visit, Ron cleared up with 5k to the bar.
An unfortunate communications mix-up meant there was no food, apologies to our guests for this. On the upside, it was a pleasure to see both Pete & Ron back in action.
Next week for the Atlas, it's away to the Marineview. Bet I get a game there. ;)

Well new season underway and a visit for the Schooner to an old venue with a table back in, The Old House At Home, good venue if a bit cramped due to pool on the same night. Home team have to sit close to table, and space at a premium for the away side what with having to avoid the pool players and the door being like Picadilly Circus as people use the loos and go to and fro to other bar areas. Dogs galore, that aside a great top and the landlords hospitality next to none, sandwiches to feed an army along with cheesy chips.
Game one saw Terry Molloy open with 2k, NeilHiggins (great to see him and on the road to recovery, incredible) replied with 1.8, Terry first to get them back and knocked in 5k to make sure. 2850-6730 0-1.
Barney opened with 3k+, Tj could not retrieve, eventually leaving one in rirght hand corner and one teetering over back of 10 hole. Barney played ciorner ball and as he did so the ball behind 10 gave itself up. From here a very good 8k followed and game over. 12870-160.
Rick Cunningham going well till left both up at 1500, Tony Burgess lost 2.5k break and then another 1.5k. Rick playing balls near left 50 hole tried to cut one across to clear ball behind 10 hole resulting in peg. Tony played one good one for break back and game over. 2340 -1750 2-1.
Nick Brown off cheaply, Bill Kerr hgot them back but also off cheaply. Bit of cat and mouse before Nick retrieved break and knocked in 5k+. Bill did reply but time was short, 8890-3670 3-1.
Steve Aylmore struggled with break, Gary Ridley took time to settle before knocking in 6k+. 8810-670 4-1.
Moved to 5-1 in an excellent friendly doubles won by Lynne and Shelia, with Dave Anscombe making his A team debut and your roving reporter trying his hardest to go for record number of black pegs.
To finish evening as everyone on way home thought give table a proper game against Rc and we shared 16k, my contribution being 12k. Just to show that will be good top and that we were just not good enough on night.

Nice to see that name change and Rustiness had effected the Atlas. looks as usual going to be excellent season ahead and at this early stage good luck to all. Another easy one for Schooner next week at home to Swan B, well as they say Lifes A Bitch.

Schooner b 2 Ball Tree 3
All games close ones. After Lorraine missed the red on her break shot we then all realised the break was thick. The trouble being to have a go at it you really have to get it back sometime during the game! :o The gremlin that was hiding itself down the right hand 30 hole didnt help us much either. ;) and he kept moving.
No food so pizza was sent for. Unfortunately that meant had to have another couple of drinks whilst we were waiting for the delivery man to arrive! :o
Bye next week so chance for some more drinking (sorry bar billiards) practice ::)
Thanks again to the Schooner for a good evening.
