Rule 24) Age related competitions; players must comply with the age restriction on Sept 1st of the current year. So I think it is ok he plays as long as he was 25 on Sept 1st. Don't understand how someone who is 25 on the qualifying date can enter an 'UNDER 25' competition, I would have assumed they would have to be 24 or younger on the qualifying date. I can fully understand how someone can be 25 on the day of the competition but not 26. I make this comment now for clarification before next years event, and if I am wrong then Nigel please accept my apology for questioning your ruling.

Well done Steven on yet another 5 star showing, that 15,000 brk in the Semi Final against Ian Gordon on table 8 must rank as one of your best ever games, KT & Myself both struggled on that one. You even proved you could play the reverse break shot on table 6 with a 5,000 brk, the table that Pauline & me lost in the Semi Final on, with neither of us getting to grips with it. This win means that Steven has been in the final 10 times in the last 11 years including the last 9 and has won it 6 times. He also has 2 more years to enter it, I think. :P Also well done Adam on making the final, a star of the future. Congratulations Steven not only for winning this year but for such an impressive achievement in past events :) And well done to Adam for such a fine performance on the day, yes a rising star 8-)

It was agreed that the age limit would be raised from 22 to 25 a few years ago at the AGM, but I am not sure if it is under 25 or 25 or under, so you may well be right Sparky. Someone may have the correct answer but I will try and check it out....
Also well done Stephen on your 6th win and Adam on your first National final

I remember the age limit being raised, but did wonder about someone aged 25 at the cut-off date playing in the Under 25's.
To me under 25 means under 25 on the 1st September. You cannot enter the over 50's if you reached 50 on 2nd September.
From digging through my rules archives it would seem the change was never ratified at an AGM so I cannot clarify the wording.
Propositions should have been in by yesterday, so it's too late to ratify it this year.

I think clarification is needed on this one, this being the only rule on age restriction.

The word under means a lot I think, Surely if anyone is under the age of 25 on the day of the tournament that will do? Removes any kind of ambigiuity, I will be bold enough to say though that the standard of the tables in the games that I scored certainly brought the young future of the game to it's knees!!

Well this just proves my theory yet again that one or two little alcoholic drinks never hurt anyone when it comes to playing Bar Billiards. ::) ;D I couldn't believe it when I was looking for Dave to play our Semi Final match as we looked everywhere without ever thinking that he might be AT THE BAR in the other room, what a shock!! :o :o ;D Well played Sue & Dave, the only match you lost then was the one that I came to mark when I saw that you were marking your own game....and you nearly won that one as I put the scores on the card the wrong way round, so had to get another one. :-[
