We drew 3-3 with the 3 Pigeons tonight at the Demos and went through on aggregate ;D We all won one and lost one, with all games going with break! I was on last and had to win by 2,740 which i did by a further 500 ish. What was the score in the big match at the Tandem tonight with the Corner House playing the Red Lion ?

Red Lion v Corner House at the Tandem
"Can you ride tandem?" was a catchphrase on the PG Tips advert a few years ago and, in my opinion, you may just as well have got the chimps to play on THAT table.
You were just hoping for luck when you played every shot, and yes the result was 4-0 to the Red Lion, and I was pleased to get away 40 mins early to start packing.
The only problem was that Bob wanted a lift home which took me round the "wrong" side of the ring road. There was a hold up while the police attended an accident in a single file road work area, and then a diversion from Headington roundabout which took me around through Islip, and I got home only about 10 mins earlier than if we had played all six legs.
Back to the table, yes Ray apologised for the fact that there was a crack in the slate. Yes, Micky plays at the venue in the Wallingford league. Yes, we could just not account for such a wild left hand roll on the RHS of the table, and a slightly milder RH roll on t'other side.
To allow you to judge, I played a shot well to the right of the right pin and it clipped the pin on the left side, and I thought I had allowed enough.
Anyway, good luck in the rest of the competition to the Red Lion who we have had the indian sign over for the last season or so.
Just to finish, the top is only about a month old and when the crack was reported, there was no surprise in the voice so we can only summise that it was known that it was installed that way. Ho hum!!!
Oh yes, well done Mark. Bet you enjoyed that a bit!!!

No enjoyment at all Pete. With two teams like that, you deserve to be playing on a decent top, but they are hard to come by in the Eynsham league. Out of the 7 venues, at the moment, there is only the Red Lion and Royal Oak tables that are nice, although i haven't played on the new Corner House or Betchingdon tops yet. The Tandem, Demos and 3 Pigeons are all dodgy tops at the moment. The Demos table we played on last night was not consistent all night. One time it rolls to the left, the next time it rolls to the right. No consistency and something you can not allow for.
I know our table is playing poorly and to be told we have to wait a few weeks for a new slate to be imported from Italy is not good enough from the people the table is hired from. Why couldn't they put the slate on from the old top they took out ??
