The Tandem table last night led to some "interesting" bar billiards. Jon Bamsey started his quarterfinal with Pete Soanes like a train and seemed as though he would be totally unbeatable. I think it would be unfair to the home team to give a rundown of what shots to avoid on this table, but suffice it to say that Jon lost his opening break of about 2k and then struggled to get anything going for another 25 mins. He did manage to settle with a few minutes to play and eventually settled it, but Pete must be kicking himself.
Dave Barnes and Pete Farrelly managed to keep it friendly, both knocking down pins with ease. A break by Pete of about 5k went up the spout and only a few hundred separated the two at the end of the first leg, with Dave just ahead.
Pete did settle better in the 2nd leg and won through to play Jon in the semi-final.
A very scrappy first leg gave Jon a 3,000 lead and Pete only started the 2nd with about 1k. Jon seemed to have sorted it many times but kept shouting out that he hated the table. He should realise that that is extremely encouraging to his opponent.
The match swayed both ways for a while.
Settling in, Pete touched up with a 5k break with a lead of nearly 3,000 thinking there was only a minute or so left. If Jon had known that the bar was going to slightly overrun, he may have still won.
The other play-off has still to be arranged. Phew!

Thats quite interesting you say that as i thought the table was playing quite well! I had a game on it on Monday early evening and almost ran it out, with my break over 20k when i missed !!!
Ray won through at the Red Lion in the alternative rules.
