Phobia's

Tommo started a thread on ten things they cant do, so how about a thread on phobias?

Here is my list

1 - Spiders (Arachnophobia)
2 - confined spaces (Claustrophobia)
3 - Snakes (Glad mine is only a chipolata and not a cumberland)
4 - lifts is another phobia, i am not sure what it is about them but only a few people have ever got me in one.

I've got a few :-/

1. Warm beer (Phosterfobia)
2. Big words (Dickslecksiafobia)
3. Wooden pins (Cr@pshotafobia)
4. V.A.T. men (Officialafobia)

My ten worst phobias - Hmmm........

1. Belonephobia – the fear of needles and injections.
2. Cremnophobia – fear of precipices.
3. Demonophobia – fear of the devil.
4. Harpaxophobia – fear of being robbed or burgled.
5. Hypnophobia – fear of falling asleep, especially at meetings !
6. Spheksophobia – fear of being stung by a wasp.

My next three as far as I am aware have no special name:

7. Fear of one of my sudden attacks of cramp.
8. Fear of Daleks – this Saturday I will probably watch Dr Who from behind the sofa !
9. Fear of being in a situation like John Cleese’s character in the film Clockwise – events conspiring to prevent you getting somewhere on time: a recurring nightmare of mine.

And finally………………

10. Arachibutyrophobia – the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of my mouth. :o

It's a good one, H/V/P, but the term actually is :

Algophobia - Pain
Arachnophobia - Spiders (Only big enough to wear boots)
Taphophobia - Fear of being buried alive
Clinophobia - Fear of going to bed (so I am told)
Cardiophobia - Fear of heart disease
Eremophobia - Solitude
Ergasiophobia - Work (speaks for itself).

I also have a fear about drowning but only in the deep sea !!!

OK - here are mine!!!!

Chiroptophobia - Fear of bats! (this is probably the biggest fear I've got!)
Ornithophobia - Fear of birds
Acrophobia - Fear of heights
Astrapophobia - Fear of lightning
Algophobia - Fear of pain
Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders
Entomophobia - Fear of Insects (this is to cover all those flying things that don't come under bats and birds!!!!)

Couldn't find a word for it - but I have a phobia about being around drunk people too!!!!!! ::)

Only one I suffer from is Workophobia, no explanation should be required ;)

There is a name for it, Kevin, its Ergophobia. ;D
