Greyhound 2, Mill House Z 3
Jolene Fairs 1190, Johnny Haigh 2530 Peter Burchell 2870, Barry Timson 1800 Trevor Rees 5310, MrMike007 3880 Geoff Fairs 1540, SuperG 3050 Neil Burchell 930, tommo 3470
A really closely contested match, with the visitors mainly having the run of the balls.
Young Jolene (daughter of Geoff) played amazingly well considering it was only her third game, and gave Johnny Haigh quite a scare as she matched him shot for shot early on. Peter was on the table at the right time with the break-back to deny Barry, and game 3 was a cracker with Mick finding himself 4k behind before rallying well to play out time - but a bridge too far.
At this stage a home victory looked on the cards but then something happened which seemed to unsettle both players..............Three young locals tried to gatecrash the party to play darts, when there was simply insufficient room to allow them to do so (would have needed much rearrangement of furniture in the small bar) but they refused to take no for an answer.
Neil (forming a barrier to them) and Trevor (conversing with them whilst keeping score) were fortunately equal to the task of controlling the situation, but it seemed to have an adverse effect on Neil in the decider, as he was unable to cash in on tommo's mistake of spilling a 3k break on a ball behind the ten hole, going too close to the black peg himself.
Despite the slight hiccup the Greyhound were nice and friendly and we wish them better luck for the remainder of the season.

BREWERS BRAVOS:3 WATERMILL B:2
LYNNE:1820 MARTIN:3050 A tight opener. Martin kept his nose ahead despite a last minute charge from Lynne and got on break one last time to make it safe and open his sides account. PAUL MOYES-ROBB:4870 PAUL BLACKBURN:1270 Another game that was close early on but Mr. Moyes Robb eventually gave himself another couple of goes on break to take the frame. Mr. Blackburn was unlucky not to score more but the balls did not drop for him tonight. BRAVO:3220 GAVIN BOYD:1210 The score dosen't tell the whole story. Gavin lost his opening score and Bravo went off like a machine. A 10k break beckoned but Bravo was caught out at the back and sadly pegged when on 9.5k. Gavin made it a fight after that and got back on break but a final 3k from Bravo gave him the frame SPUD:11,120 PADDY BRIAN:110 One of those nights i guess. Two breaks of 3k and one of 4 gave me my first 10k+ score. Mr. Brian had no luck on the table tonight and i had the lions share of it. NIKKI:1420 MARK RIDLEY:2210 Another closely fought game that was largely spent down the back, but Mr. Ridley held off Nikki with some good play to give his team the consolation point.
As always with the "bees" a good match and a good evening and we will be very much looking foward to the return match in a few months time.

Saints 5 Droops 0 Roger Wallbank 850 Colin Humphrey 560 Dour, Colin lost many breaks, and also produced the bridge shot, which summed up his luck. Had 2 goes at the 200 to win by 10, but left both just short. One for the academy.
|Manley Harveys 4270 Sir Jock 790 Best game of the night. Jock pegged a 2 1/2 K break, which would have put him nearly level. M H showed no mercy
Peter Geal 2800 Stephen Costa 1280 Peter always in control , but some nice 100s from the coffee man
Mat Geal 3010 Alan Humphrey 210 Mat Cruising
TSO 4160 AFW 1710 The 2 skips, 1 and 2 in the recently published 13 year records, clash of the titans. AFW quickly took 1k plus lead. TSO lacked fluency but was studious.

First and foremost congratulations Spud, keep it coming mate :) :).........now I'm glad I let you beat me in the Singles last year ;D ;D ;D ;
Plough PG 3 - 2 HH USC
Sean Turner 2360, Bill Boyce* 1250 Sean showed some nice touches and deserved the win.
Darren Newnham* 5580 - 3940 Sparky Darren didn't go off with too many but I didn't capitalise enough and he then banged in a good break at the end to leave me no chance.
Ron Sheridan 1370 - Terry Gasson* 7310 Terry showed his knowledge of this table and Ron was well beaten.
Chase Newman* 3180 - 1260 Mick Kirwan Interesting to see two 'Break-Left' players on together and Chase played the better as Mick just couldn't get it together.
Dave Knight b/p - Ron Wales* 1430 Very messy game especially for Dave who had a complete 'Mare' and puzzled over the table and eventually took the Black out with the last ball while Ron played some good shots but never settled.
Good food as usual from the 'Turner' establishment 8-) and a thoroughly enjoyable evening with the 'Plump Plough' boys despite the result ;D ;D

Cheers for the kind words one and all, most appreciated.
Apologies to my opponent however. Having watched Bravo go off on one the frame before, Paddy said to me "dont do that to me will you". I foolishly replied "dont worry, 10k is a little bit beyond me"...
Anyway, hope i can keep up some of that form for a while longer. Cheers all.

Nick Brown told me tonight that the Eight Bells beat the Woolpack 4-1.
[Report of this match from the Old Fella added] :
Woolpack 1, Eight Bells 4 The 8 Bells travelled out to the Woolpack and secured a welcome win that moved them into joint third place. Steve Lathwell took a tight opening game over Tony Driver but Bell’s Nick Brown levelled it up with a win over Lyn Storr. The Bells took the lead as Gary Foster made his first appearance of the season and defeated Anne Stockinger. Another close run thing in the fourth which saw Lady Ros defeat Mike Weber. And last point also to Bells as Sir Trevor beat Jan Hinkins.

The last result now in, report courtesy of the OldFella:
Watermill A 3, Plough L/B 2 The A Team won at home against the Plough and set themselves fair in second place coming up to the Christmas break. Big Norm suffered an ignominious defeat to Mark Potter to put Plough into the driving seat but a 5K4 from John Staplehurst for the home side made it 1 all. The best of the match for Kim Stenning who hit 6K8 against mark Webber to put The A Team in front. Rodney Storr, still seeking a home win narrowly lost out the Keith Potter and another decider was needed. No mistakes here as Chris Nikolaj won out over Geoff Parsons for the match.
And now the current tables:
Team Played Won Points Premier Division Mill House Z 6 5 25 Watermill A 6 5 23 Plough LB 6 3 19 CKRBL 6 3 18 Hurst B 7 3 18 Hurst A 6 2 14 Greyhound 6 1 14 Laughing Fish 5 2 13
Division 1 St Francis 6 6 27 Plough PG 7 5 25 Bravos 6 4 22 Eight Bells 6 3 22 HHUSC 6 3 21 Droops 6 2 14 Watermill B 6 2 12 Woolpack 7 0 7
