I see that Tommo has posted the England teams on the Sussex site so I will put them on here officially. This match will take place on February 6th at the Ardington hotel, Worthing.
MEN K.Tunstall (Sussex) capt. N.Senior (Sussex) P.Collins (Oxon) S.Sheard (Oxon) Paul Sainsbury (Berks) C.Driver (Kent) J.Millward (Sussex R.Wooton (Sussex) G.Lloyd (Sussex) These first 9 players will play against Guernsey in May (Singles) M.Brewster (Kent)- will be included in the Doubles G.Jukes (Surrey)
1st Reserve - L.Beer 2nd reserve - C.Reeves 3rd reserve - Pete Sainsbury
LADIES P.Withey (Oxon) capt. J.Brackenridge (Sussex) C.Toner (Hants) H.Tunstall (Sussex) L.Hall (Sussex) As we don`t know yet how many ladies will be coming over from Jersey, we have selected 4 reserves to cover any eventuality. 1st reserve - J.Florey 2nd reserve - D.Wills 3rd reserve - S.Atkins 4th reserve - G.Sherratt
Congratulations to all those selected, I shall look forward to meeting up with you all, as a team in February.
There will be a practice match v Redhill on January 23rd at the Surrey open venue (forgotten the name ::)). I would like as many of the players selected there as possible. Remember, we don`t have any competitive competitions Off the Spot, so this warm up is necessary. Please let me know if you can/can`t make this date.
I also need to know from the players if you want to stay at the venue in February. The price for Double or Twin rooms is £70 per room B&B. Single rooms are £55.00. You do not have to stay, but obviously it would be nice if some of you do :) Any supporters are also welcome to stay at the venue.

Kev,
Nice to see you're so organised. Is there a need to book the hotel this early ? Are there any discounts for Jersey players, either single or double, and the relevant nights available ? Have you got a karaoke organised ? What the hell is that Mr. Collins doing in your team ? I know he's a good singer but I mean..... Bar Billiards ;D

Bar Billiards ;D Mick Hi Mick The hotel is quite nice but they only have about 40 rooms. They and the Chatsworth hotel opposite are the best two in Worthing and are very popular. No more discounts i`m afraid, i`ve already haggled to get the price that`s available. (£70 Db or Tw)(£55 Sing). As for booking early, I thought the flights would be slightly cheaper as well. I`m going to speak to the hotel about karaoke, if not them, then probably Stu Mepham who plays for me. As for Fast Track Phil, didn`t he win some local competition over the water last month? ;D

Kevin, do you have some idea of what numbers you have in mind for the England v Surrey challenge ? Is it 15 men and 7 ladies, with a mixture of singles and doubles matches ? Colin Robbins has asked the question, as Surrey need to know how many to line up against your firing squad ! :D The venue is St Nicholas School, Merstham, by the way. Cheers, Clive.

I would like to wish the England Men's team all the best for this Saturday in Worthing against, hopefully, the same strong Jersey team that won so convincingly last year in Jersey. It will be a different story this time...22-11 win for England is my forecast. :D
I'm sure you will all play up to expectations and remember that you have all been picked on merit, so being the best players in the Country.
Good luck and I will be there to support you all.
Keith (England Team Selector) 8-) ;D
PS What a shame that Jersey Ladies can't make a team, I do hope the England Ladies get a game of some sorts, even if it's five people off the street!! ;)

As for the Ladies, well.................. I know the Manager, I think he`ll play. The Head chef i`ve heard is a bit of a demon and the waiters can move quite well ;D ;D ;) Honestly though, they will have a match of some description ;)

It was a shame to hear last night that our World Champion Phil Collins will not be able to make the International due to work commitments, especially as he also couldn't make last years match in Jersey. :(
Leon Beer is first reserve, so good luck to him.....try not to lose a superbly made 9,000brk on a tricky table this time Leon!! ???
