Windmill 2 Old House at Home 3
Match played at the Swan.
Charlie Cooper 6,380* - 6,020 Paul Barnett Barney opened with a steady 3k, Charlie replied with a very good 6k which he had to work hard to keep going. With the clock running down, Barney got the balls back and started the chase, breaking down just before the bar dropped. 1-0
Mick Pope 4,450* - 3,880 Tony Burgess With Mick coming off early, Tony managed to get his nose in front for most of the game thanks to a couple of small breaks, Micky managed to get the balls back near the end and ran in a 3k break to steal the leg. 2-0
Alan Messer 2,110 - 7,990* Nick Brown Both players had early chances without being able to get going, Nick was the first to settle down and ran in a useful 5k+ to make sure of the win. 2-1
Gina Sherratt 3,160* - 7,030 Graham Lewis Gina left the one up short and Graham took full advantage with a very solid break of just under 5k and maintained his lead for the rest of the game. 2-2
Dave Ingram 320 - 7,760 Neil Higgins I pegged my opening 2k break when I failed to allow enough for the left-hand roll, Neil missed the red ball on his opening break shot and was off at 100. The game got very scrappy for a long time and at the half way stage Neil lead 800-300, however with me playing as if blindfolded, Neil just could not maintain the low level that I was at and he got a couple of medium sized breaks to make sure of the win for his team. My apologies to my team mates for what is probably the worst performance by anybody in the history of the game. :-[ :'( 2-3
Congratulations to the Old House for their spirited comeback, many thanks to the Swan for their hospitality.

Swan B 4 Vs Ball Tree 1 @ Schooner
Evening started badly, they had no beer whatsoever, not even cream flow. Second time this season, Shoes was the other, still Mat saved a few Bob by not drinking at all!!
Doug 7530 - Jean 1110. Jean never got hold of the table. Roger 7290 - Chris 990. Solid knock from Rog. Brian 3720 - Lorraine 1870. Useful break at the end to seal the game for Brian. Mat 3050 - Sheena 1290. Table was the winner here in a free rubber. Barry 4320 - Sandra 5460. Good game and win for Sandra.
Table played pretty well. Thanks to the Schooner for some great food, although not sure how we were supposed to eat king prawn fried rice without plates, knives, forks or spoons (although they did arrive 30 minutes later which is more than can be said for the beer).

Schooner A v Duke of Wellington @ Ball Tree
Not quite as bad as Schooner, with at least John Smiths and Fosters being the only two beers available when we arrived, all credit the landlord did then get a barrel of London Pride tapped and served straight from the barrel.
Mal Spier off early when missed break, Terry Molloy steady 2k then another 6k, Mal never settled. 8760-530 1-0
Rick Cunningham off at 2k Chris Tupper took the advantage and built winning lead with steady break. 2260 - 5820 1-1
John Perrin off early putting one up behind, TJ break back left both up. John built 3k break, Tj worked at table without settling to build winning lead. 5440-4120 2-1
Bill Kerr off at 650 but Chris Reeves not get them back, Bill did and built great 6k to win. 9100-150 3-1
Nigel Senior 11k opener, Dave Anscombe even break off early, Nigel played table out another 6k+ 300-17900 3-2
A great evening, with plenty of banter, landlady although not expecting bus rustled up some nice rolls, and bites.
