The England v Jersey annual International was played last night at the Ardington hotel in Worthing. Quite a few supporters turned up to cheer on the teams.
England ran out comprehensive winners 25 - 8. The Ladies played a "B" match against a mixed Jersey/England side and were triumphant 12 - 9
Scores will follow

Congratulations to both England teams in their fine win yesterday.
I have only one grumps about the venue :(. I was unhappy to find the match was played in a back room about the size of my lounge. Unfortunately there was no seating available so that people could sit down. I brought my wife down to watch but we couldn't stay because she is disabled and not able to stand for very long. We could have gone into the other bar where others were but we decided to go home. Both my wife and I felt very disappointed we couldn't watch the game.

Hi Dave, yes that was a sham about the space. I did ask before the match that the extra tables put in the room for the food be left til the last minute because of the limited space and the table in the corner with Dave`s laptop on wasn`t necessary either. Otherwise, everything else seemed to be great. When we look ahead in two years time, we might measure up the longer function room (narrower though) and see if that is better. I would like to thank all the supporters that came down to watch and hopefully you will do the same in 2012.
Match scores - remember, these games are all Off the Spot.

May I add my congratulations to the England team on a fine performance against a strong Jersey team and also to the England Ladies on their win against the "Guest" team, but it was a shame that it didn't include more lady players.
I must also say that I was thrilled to be asked by Kevin to present the trophies at the end, even if it was seconds before the presentation!! as I've always wanted to do that but have never been asked before. :'(
It felt good to get all those lovely kisses and the ladies ones weren't bad either. :-* ;)
Hope I never have to shake "man mountain" Dave Gallichan's hand again, as I heard all the bones in my hand crack as he shook it!! :o ;D ;)
I also thought the room was much too small but everything else was very nice about the hotel....except the wash basin not being in the bathroom, as it was by the bed!! ???
Enjoyed the W/End
Keith :)
PS The manager was heard to say, as we were leaving "we better check all the CC cameras before we ask them back next time" which I thought was a bit off, as he could have been more discreet about it. ???
I'm sure there will be no problems, as everyone was well behaved, EVEN ME. ;D

Sorry, I forgot to congratulate Kevin on being a worthy Captain and tremendous organizer, it can't be easy to concentrate on your game as well as find markers, etc, he even helped Dave & Sam take the tables to the van very late on.....so well done to him. 8-) Well done also to Dave Alder for setting up the tables, they were all excellent, with the exception of table 3 that had one or two quirks with it. One last thing was the 2010 programme that I found on the desk which had the profiles of the players inside, but I was shocked to see the profile of my/our late friend Ray Sturgess in it. :'( Kevin & Dave did say that there was a mistake made with the printing somehow, but it was for me to see that, although they didn't mean anyone to see it, so I must stop being nosey in the future. ::) Keith.

Thanks for your comments Keith. I didn`t realise the old programme was in open view. I knew it was on Dave`s laptop because we were looking for the new ones I had written up, they seemed to have got lost when I sent them back to Dave on friday.
I have since found them, so i might put them up when i`ve got time :)
