Dun Horse 2 Southwater SC ‘B’ 3
Scott Hope 3380 Tom Darkins 4630 A close game which could have gone either way. Scott let Tom in to score a decisive break in the closing stages of the game. Grant Hope 1070 Matt Senior 1680 A frustrating game for both players. Matt edging ahead as the bar went. Both players had about ten attempts at sinking the last ball in the 100 hole. Sums it up really!
Colin Bolton 980 Jeff Raine 2760 Jeff broke off with about 1k and managed to stay in front till the end. Capt. Colin had another game playing with square balls. We’ll have to get him one of those Slovakian Kids tables to practice on!
Stuart Hope 3490 Keith Whittaker 1950 Both players off to a slow start. Stuart managed to get going midway for a couple of 1k+ breaks. Keith scoring on most visits but not enough to catch up.
Dave Simmons 9420 Chris Purkiss 0 Chris struggled with the break to start. Dave on his third visit managed to get going for 5k5, followed by another 1k, leaving Chris an awkward ball in front of the 100 hole. Chris misjudged it and clipped the Black Peg, leaving Dave to finish up for another 2k5.
Table played a bit slow tonight which had a bit of an effect on a couple of the games. :-/ A pleasant evening with some good chat, finished off with a tray of sandwiches, unusually not containing egg! Things are looking up! ;D

Twas a good night.
And there i was looking forward to some egg mayo sarnies!!!
Table was "interesting".
Right hand side is a lot quicker than left. Back is slower than Steve Bruce used to be for Utd.
Break is relaively straightforward in saying that but when you go passed that, you face a left hand curve with a right curve and seems like your ploughing a field.
Think the table could do with the magic of Mr Sparksman

You're not wrong there Matt. Table plays well when Sparky has tweaked it. The trouble is the proximity of the Dart Board. The Dart players tend to shove the table out of the way to give themselves more room, or worse still sit on it. >:(

Alfold SC v Limeburners Cricketers
Malcolm Greening v Bill Hammond
Bill found the break on the relatively new table a bit different to what he expected and was unable to put to many points on the table from his break. The Major was also having a little trouble getting going and for much of the game it was fairly untidy with neither player making an impact. Eventually the Major found some form and rattled in a useful 2K break to secure the point for Alfold
Alfold 1 Limeburners 0
Cliff Greening v Les Etheridge
Again another game similar to the first with neither player finding things particularly easy. Les was making things hard for the Minor, slowly putting points on the board. The Minor however, like his mentor before him, found late form to hit 2.6K at the death to claim the game.
Alfold 2 Limeburners 0
Trevor Goacher v Brian Goodchild
It was another one of those games, with both players hitting balls around the table and matching each other in the points department. Trevor eventually took the lead with a 1K break and was looking comfortable until Brian came back with a good 1K to level the score. With the bar down Brian need to pot 1 ball to put the game out of reach with only 2 balls left, however he missed the object ball, potted the other leaving Trevor a single shot into 100 pocket to claim the game ::) This was not the tidiest of games but quite exciting to the observer.
Alfold 3 Limeburners 0
Robin Burgess v Tony Cross
Again another game similar to the previous 3 with neither player making any impact. Tony had opportunities but lost quite a few points. Pretty much nip and tuck until Robin hit 3K to put the game out of Tony's reach
Alfold 4 Limeburners 0
Garry "I've got one in!" Fishburn v Chip Sawyer
Now this game had a classic written all over it and with Chip steaming out the blocks to hit an impressive 5K break we all thought we were in for a treat. Gaz came back with a good 2K response, but left the balls up in an inviting position for Chip to capitalise on his good start. No, sorry Chip was so confident he substituted himself for a look a like and we were back into an indifferent game. Gaz had opportunities to push on but only managed another 1K break before the bar saved us all.
Alfold 4 Limeburners 1
M Greening 3810 B Hammond 2390 C Greening 4460 L Etheridge 2510 T Goacher 2130 B Goodchild 2100 R Burgess 3900 T Cross 1130 G Fisburn 3350 R Sawyer 5650
( I apologise to any player if I have got your first name wrong, but relying on others to provide the info)
A good evening, with indifferent bar billiards. Neither team really shone and if the Limeburner lads had a little more of their usual form would have no doubt made the score line more respectful.
Not knocking the win for Alfold, they ground it out and well deserved.
Thanks to Robin for providing the grub, curry, bombay potatoes etc. Also a big thanks to Bill for his legendary pickled onions, they just get better.

Most off putting when trying to play down the left side of the table. Always wondering if they were going to nudge it as you played a shot >:( Preffered it when it was by the Bar, can`t think why? Hic ;D

Almost every time I go the table has been moved and needs repositioning and/or minor tweaks but strangely last week it didn't need any adjustment........and now this week it is 'off' again >:( I never see the darts players and rely on the staff to ask them not to nudge the table :-/ :-X :'(

It's a bit hard Sparky when 2 of the dart players Are the Bar Staff !!!!!
I thought it played well in our match on Tuesday & we got 2 bowls of chips :P :P You need to practice your smile a bit more Dunplaying.
But seriously it is frustrating when all they need to do is turn the dart board to face the same direction then Problem solved they can move the coffee table.

To be fair, the table wasn't that bad this week. (Worked OK for me anyway. ;D) It was a little slower than normal which will obviously make any rolls more noticeable, but the weather does that. :-/
