Alfold SC versus The Blue Ship
Robin V Ding - Ding broke with a modest score leaving the 2 balls up around the 50 holes. Rob got the break back to knock in a useful 1.5K. Ding responded with a 1K to bring game level. Rob then nipped in with over 1K and with no response from Ding he then rattled in a match winning 3K
Alfold 1 The Blue Ship 0
Trevor V Mick - Mick started with a handy 3K, Trevor won the break back and hit over 1K before fluffing an easy shot. Game was then about pushing balls around the table until Mick hit 2.5K to finish the game off.
Alfold 1 The Blue Ship 1
The Minor V Alan - Alan started of confidently with the break, so much so he potted 4 times to give the break to The Minor. Sadly Minor seemed to have lost his strength leaving the 2 balls invitingly by the 50 holes. Alan hit a good 1K before Minor responded with nearly 2K. Alan got his head down to rattle in a decent 2.5K and then both players scored modestly, with the Bar dropping for a Blue Ship win.
Alfold 1 The Blue Ship 2
The Major V Colin - Colin broke with a useful 1K, leaving the Major to push the balls around a bit. Colin increased his score with a further 1.5K before the Major got his head down to rattle in a 2K break. The table then got tied up with the balls at the bottom end giving neither player much opportunity. Colin then played a once in a life time shot to pot 3 balls to win the break back (30, 10 and 100 holes ::)), but the bar dropped leaving him neither the time or the balls to beat the Major
Alfold 2 The Blue Ship 2
Garry V Steve - the last game was well poised as a classic with both players able to play a bit. Steve hit almost 3K with his first visit letting Gaz on to hit a reasonable 2K. The table then got a bit messy and amongst it all Steve seemed to have the billiard god on his side by emerging out of the mess with nearly a 2K break. I think it would be fair to say that Steve acknowledged he may have had a bit of luck, but nether the less a decent game and win for the Blue Ship
Alfold 2 The Blue Ship 3
R Burgess 6560 D Johnson 2580 T Goacher 1560 M Johnson 5960 C Greening 3400 A Maylee 5770 M Greening 3410 C Cathie 2960 G Fishburn 2580 S Holden 4820
As ever a nice evening amongst friends, all games played very sportingly and advice, encouragement and banter was shared by all.
Great food, cheers to the Minor for sorting it out.

Stout House Z 4 Railway 1
Jim 15,610 Mark Davies 500 Johnny 350 Steve Merriott 2600 Vernon 10,630 Nigel Worsfold 1230 Andy 2600 Martin Cork 2470 Richard 3740 Mick Clack 2030
Jim showed no mercy against Mark with a 15,610 break, even though captain Vern kept telling him to get off ! ;D 8-) Well played Jim ;D Johnny has never beaten Steve in a competitive match and it`s still playing on his mind. ::) ::) Vern got an 8k break to beat Nige. Andy & Richard`s games could`ve gone either way. A good win for the Zeds ;D
Andy, Johnny and myself definitely need some more practice on our home table ! ::)
An enjoyable evening with the Railway team, with plenty of banter, and some nice mini-filled rolls to finish with :)

I'm laid up for a couple of weeks so this week Scott has compiled our match report:-
Results as follows - apologies if any of the names are incorrect, the handwriting on the card wasn't the best and I'd had 5 beers!! DUN 1 THREE B's 4 Grant 1360 John Tudhope 5520 Scott 3930 Dave Tomsett 3160 Colin 2680 Steve Eely 5400 Stuart 2130 Ron Child 2570 Keith 1220 Linda Lennon 2720 and yes that negates our 4-1 win last week!! Fun and games on the way over as Pops was turned back to Fiveoaks as there was an accident and after miscommunication Pops and Grant eventually turned up at about ten past nine. Grant fortunately had dropped myself and Colin earlier so we kicked off. I played first and we both had many visits with no real breaks, we exchanged scores and I managed to play the final few minutes of the table out to secure an opening win. Col was up second and played some smooth bar billiards and took an early lead with a just short of a two thousand break. His opponent came back heavily with three and a bit thousand and stayed ahead to take the win. The early form certainly gee'd Colin up for next week. Grant up and other than a few sterling strokes the game was done and dusted by the opp. Pops should have taken this game but lost a break on a bad decision ball. The rest is history. Keith had the pleasure of playing the only lady of the night and was suffering from a stiff back. He certainly kept his table time to a minimum not to further his ailments and secured the fourth defeat. Thanks to our opponents and well done - a good evening on the whole, had by all.
