Hi there, I'm Linda, I wrote a BBC Berkshire online article on Charlie Wheeler some years ago and ended up buying my own table! I bought it from a chap who ran the Pack Horse on the A4074, and told me it was a table from around the 1930s and that the cushions "were as straight as a gun barrel". After a few happy years of playing I now have a little son who is taking up all my time, and it's time to revert the billiards room into a dining room. This means I'm looking for a buyer for the table. It has a wood base rather than a slate one, so not as heavy. I transported it easily as the top part unbolts. It has a £1 coin mechanism. If you're interested then please drop me a line at lindaserck@yahoo.co.uk, and I can send you some more photos or you can arrange to have a look - I'm based in Emmer Green, Reading. Kind regards, Linda Attachments:

Amendment - it is a slate base, for some reason I thought it was wood.

Looks in great shape, Linda, and having a slate base (rather than MDF) makes a world of difference to its marketability.
As most of the Forum users inclined to purchase their own table will already have long since fixed themselves up, your best bet is to advertise it on eBay - which is where I got mine, incidentally.
I suggest you put a starting bid requirement of £500 on it, and a reserve price of £600 which is about par for a SAMS table in reasonable nick.
It may well go for more , as tables of genuine quality seem to be becoming rarer to find as time goes by.

A good idea Tommo! I was thinking of Ebay but saw that the few tables on there didn't sell very well.
I was hoping someone on the forum may know a pub or a keen player who was looking for a table, but will post on Ebay in next couple of weeks for sure.
Thanks again!
Linda
