Jubilee Cup Quarter FinalStout House V Alfold SC @ Railway to be played Wednesday 14th July Stout House 3 (Langridge, Miller, Finn) Alfold SC 0 I couldn't resist a trip out to my old hunting ground to take in this one. Alfold were a bit depleted, no Major and no Thayremeister, lost the first three games and shot off before the food came out............ Their loss was our gain, Stella brought out a delicious buffet. :P Good to meet Scubafrog for 1st time and also my former teammates. Talking of Stella, they still do a nice pint (or two !) and as is normal when visiting the Railway, Margo was obliged to drive home ! :-*

Hi Tommo
Was good to meet you last night and apologise for rushing off, but I had no choice as the driver needed to get back to work. We were always going to be against it versus Pete and his crew but we did not really play well (as you saw) ::) so deserve to lose. I thought Dorsil played some interesting shots in our game :-/ and fair play they come off and he was a convincing winner.
Look forward to meeting up with you again and hopefully I wont have to rush off

Three Bees just pipped The Blue Ship last night @ The Stout House All games were fairly close on The Stouts new top all went with the opening break, Ding and Lynn had a very close one with Ding just coming through! Steve Eely liked the top nothcing 7k 8-), but as mentioned other than Steve`s game all the rest were close with the usual banter and I must apoligise to Lynn for the Lavender chalk ;D

Sparky 3400 Ray Gardner 1450 Our only winner Iang & Paul J 2610 Mick Clack & Mark Davies 3850 with both first players failing to make an impression it was Mark who compiled a 3K break getting the pace of the table right. The Gibis 3-2 Southwater Bs (although I think they should be renamed the Edwards'es)
I think a few of us need to dust off the funny wooden things before the season starts proper but the table at the Windmill needs attention!!!
Tom D started off against Jenny Edwards. Neither got going with Tom finishing just above 2k against Jennys almost 1k.
I took on Jerry in game 2 and realised why Tom and Jenny were so frustrated in the first. Jerry and I were not sure whether to laugh or cry with the table. A lost game but I stayed far enough ahead but another low scorer.
Game 3 saw Chris play Pete. Both struggled with Chris changing employment to lumberjack early on. Pete tried to muscle in on the wood-chopping losing a 650 break which was high by tonights standards. Pete easily did enough though to keep the match going.
2-1 to Swater before the doubles.
Chris Kirkham and Jenny took on Gordan and Chris P in doubles 1. Chris dominated with a nights high break getting over 1k. It may not sound huge but it was a great score. Chris and Jenny held on with ease to tie the match at 2 a piece.
The decider...Pete and Jerry took on Tom and myself. Started evenly but Pete and Jerry move around 800 ahead. Tom (primarily) and myself chipped away to take it to a black ball finish.
I needed the 200 shot to win which I would normally be comfortable with but with the top playing like that I managed to black peg it and obvisiously conceded to the brothers.
The gibis win 3-2.
(and somehow Chris won a tenner on the crystal maze!!!!)

Well, winners must have been Southwater SC A, as I heard that they went on to beat the Gibi's in the Final. Congratulations to them. If no further reports are forthcoming, I'll have to make the most of what I have for the website. :-/
