Interesting score-plate on the front, never seen one like it before.
Worth asking the vendor if the bar/timer mechanism is intact.
If so, looks worth the "Buy It Now" price. Wouldn't take much effort to spruce it up afterwards.

I would not pay that much for it Clive, be surprised if it went for more than £350 in that state

Well I did put a 'rider' on it over the question of the mechanism.
Probably has a chequered history as no authentic Jelkes hinged backboard, and if it has a mechanism it's probably an electronic one.
Tell-tale sign that it hasn't had proper bar billiards played on it: the big chalk circle in place of a D - should be able to brush all that out.
Apart from that it doesn't look that bad - to me at any rate ! ;)

Been a while since we had a table chat! Nice isn't it!! Have to budget for new cushion rubber and a timer if required and then probably a bar (specialist hinges are then a problem) Octagonal legs mean it probably has the later thread for which a cutter can be bought from Germany (AEBBA should invest in one of these (32mm) when table finances allow). If it went cheaply it would be a tempter, but a lot of work required. Sav

Perfect for Q, this one: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170890000230#ht_500wt_1288Riley in perfect condition. Location: Moretonhampstead, middle of Dartmoor. Reckon a private offer of £500 could prompt a smooth transfer from bookshop to cattery. ;) 1 day left and the opening bid required appears to have been upped by the vendor to £699. :o :o Went to a single bid of £699 four minutes from the end.

Nice Riley, everything authentic, location Looe, perfect for Q: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bar-billiards-table-/281032984896Reckon you might land it for £400. This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available..... No-one bid the requested £350 starting amount, so maybe a private deal was struck.

Burroughes & Watts table, currently in bits, location: Hartland, North Devon. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BAR-BILLIARDS-TABLE-RESTORATION-SNOOKER-POOL-/400415717670Obviously in need of a re-cloth, but the Slate looks okay. And a working timer is claimed. Only question is, why in bits ? My guess is that the rack kept falling off, and carpentry/joining skills will be needed to put it back together. No doubt a 'professional restorer' will snap this one up and we'll see it on sale for in excess of a grand in a few months' time. :-/ Went for £322 after 14 bids.

Not sure what that one is, but it's a narrow table.

In the bottom lot of photos (which I didn't see at first) there shows a label "An Ormco Speciality - made for Orme and Sons by Burroughes and Watts."
This ties in with the coin slot being offset to the right (a B & W giveaway).
There are, however, several contradictions.....the four-mushroom set, and the placing of the diamond markers means it was set up for 4-pin play........
But I've never before heard of a B & W "narrow table", and the 200-50s-100 configuration is not in a perfect diamond shape as would be normal for a narrow table. :-/ :-/ :-/

Hi i dont often visit the forum, i would like to make the following obsevations on the B+W table,
1 The score board on this "Ormco" speciality has the 4 pin variant hole scores although it is a wide table
2 The Centre cup is valued at 200 meaning the 100/200 are reversed
3 3 Black and 1 red vintage mushrooms supplied with the table
4 Should the slate on these tables run the full length of the table including baulk?
This table is identical in every way to my own, when i first brought it i posted as to the centre cup being valued at 200 and here it is again, i also had 3 Black and 1 red mushroom, the remenants of some forgotten 4 pin league ?, 3 skittles to wipe all your score ? or some handy man who liked to adapt 3 pin tables to the 4 pin variant.
Cheers Dave Till

Hi Dave,
It's a conundrum this one.
Don't agree with you or Clive, It looks like classic narrow table diamond config to me. The thirty and ten holes are reversed which suggest four pin as well. It does not look long and skinny apart from the picture looking along the top.
I had not spotted the 200/100 reversl, but think you are correct looking closely at the poor pictures. I've never encountered that before to my knowledge
Few other oddments are the planks under the corners of the body which are in the way of where the legs should go, Can't see the screw holes on the front either and the pads on the bottom corners of the top
It smells and looks like a B&W but as Clive says I've never seen a narrow one.
Had a lot of use during its life from the clock counter!

I think the most helpful clue is in the label which suggests a special commission on Burroughes and Watts by Orme & Sons who had royal patronage. There is something on the history of both companies on this link : www.snookerheritage.co.uk/histories-articles/orme-sons-ltd/(Orme & Sons were absorbed by B & W who in turn merged with Rileys.) What is unclear is how many tables comprised the commission, and whether or not they shared the exact specifications. Went for £322 after 14 bids.

Seller has now confirmed its a narrow table.
Most unusual and makes you wonder what is original to the table as I have never seen a narrow B&W table
Price is creeping up, over £50 now, still the clock is worth double that and use the rest to keep warm this winter.
