Congratulations to Tony Driver, who has just become the owner of the loveliest SAMS table I have ever seen. 8-) Originally bought in 1974 (believed to be through Tarrats) it has spent its entire life in the same farmhouse. The cloth and cushions are original and in perfect playing condition. The woodwork is immaculate and is possibly light oak, the counter records that 2700 games have been played. The pockets are bright red, they looked to have less "shoulder" than the current purpley red ones we use today. Perhaps Sav would know if Sams ever used Jersey type pockets? Also what timbers Sams used - the owners thought it was Beech. If you are quick to check out Friday Ad, you will find that this beauty was bought from Billingshurst at rather less than current ebay prices :o Now Tony just needs to convince Beryl that with a nice veneered table top, it would make the perfect place to display her flower arrangements! ;) Trevor suggested it would make a great occasional table - 'occasionally' it is a Bar Billiards table ;D If only we could find something similar in Cornwall for Q ::)

Sarah Beales's table ?
Certainly looks the business, I like the walnut effect of the wood.
Tony Driver certainly has a 'steal' there.
The future of bar billiards in Sussex is now secure ! Even if all the leagues dwindled to nothing and the last table went out of a pub, we would still have enough in private ownership to form a league of our own. 8-)
Well done, Tony !

Superb Tony, great buy and hope Beryl appreciates you spending more time near her now, rather than out in the workshop ;D ;D ;D
I'm sure those insulated styrene cups would fit in the pockets and would look very pretty with wall flowers in them......but careful when watering :o 8-)
