Forgive the abbreviations, but this is now getting very serious. The AGM is less than 3 months away and we are no nearer finding someone to take over as All-England Secretary from Dave Barnes who is retiring this year, and no nearer finding someone to take over as All-England Treasurer from Keith MacDonald who is also retiring from the post this year.
If there are going to be likely nominations for these positions in December, it would make sense to let us all know NOW (a) so that we can calm down and help a smooth transition period and (b) they can come forward and see how it all works and what needs to be done over the next few weeks while all these events are being staged in Reading.
If there are not, we are all in big, big trouble.......
In effect, your country needs you!

May have been interested in the treasurers role, but i can't drive so would be difficult to make meetings.

Dave has been secretary for ten years and has made it clear for several years that he will be retiring in December when he has completed the ten years.
Enough is enough!!

May have been interested in the treasurers role, but i can't drive so would be difficult to make meetings. If you are serious Mark, this is not a problem. There is just ONE meeting per year (unless we have another farcical EGM at Bournemouth in the near future). So it just the AGM in December, and surely anyone else from Oxford could arrange to give you a lift. If I am still attending the AGMs, I would even do so myself. Keith has done the job for many years (more than Dave) and feels that this is the right time to hand over the spreadsheets. If you are really interested, you can get more info from Dave Barnes. So, one down, one to go.......

As Pete has said I have decided that now might be a good time to stand down as treasurer, although I do enjoy doing it and it means I can keep Cambridgeshire involved in All England. I have also thought it might be worth going on one more year as to "train" a new secretary and treasurer might be too much!!
I have been doing this job since December 1989 and have only attended two meetings that wern't the AGMs. Treasurer is one you can do from a distance if you work well with the secretary.
With all the enthusiasm voiced on this web site I would have thought we will have to move the AGM to the Majeski (??) stadium and be swamped with volunteers......... but then I woke up!!
If some one is dying to do it then I will handover but saying that I do not want to end up in the situation we were when I took over - I was handed a small bag of money a couple of receipts and told that was it!!
Hope to see you all in Reading.
Keith
