Here are the latest ladies positions before next Sundays Special Ladies, so be aware if you are in the top 8 you may be asked to play on the 28 November but these positions are subject to change. So far I think I am right in saying Alison Norman and Pauline Withey have definitely qualified so if they can confirm they are or are not playing that would be great.
1 Alison Norman 8 2 Pauline Withey 5 3 Lorraine Hall 3 4 Denise Wills 3 6 Jean Brackenridge 2 5 Mrs Chris Newson 2 7 Hayley Tunstall 1 8 Jenny Florey 1 ------------------------------------------------------ 9 Genette Nicholls 1 10 Carla Jolly 1 11 Sandra Race 1 12 Gina Sherratt 1 13 Mel Stanbridge 1

Yes Chris it was tight on points - I assume you will take your place in the ladies grand prix?
Can all other ladies in top 8 confirm they will/will not play next Sunday (28th) so I can ask reserves if need be. Any reserves can confirm interest in playing and I will update as I get responses
1 Jean Brackenridge 10 - confirmed 2 Pauline Withey 10 - confirmed 3 Alison Norman 8 - confirmed Denise Wills 4
4 Lorraine Hall 3 - confirmed

Please forgive me for asking but how did mel and kirsty get into the grand prix???? please don't take offence at this mel and kirsty. Hi Jiffy under present rules ladies can score points in open competitions and (the 2) ladies opens that take place during the year. Open Points are awarded as follows Winner 15 R-up 10 S-Finals 6 Q-Finals 3 Last 16 1 for ladies only events the points are awarded differently as follows Winner 8 R-up 5 S-Final 3 Q-Final 1 Kirsty got 3 points for her semi final appearance at the special ladies, Mel scored 1 point for reaching both Q-Finals in the British Ladies and Special Ladies giving her 2 points. Only 10 ladies picked 2 points or more during the year so Kirsty (7th) and Mel (10th) featured high enough on the list to qualify. I am going to work on something to put on the AEBBA website to make the points system clear. In general in the past 2 points has been enough to qualify so the girls' good performances in ladies only events earned them their places.

forgive me for sounding like sour grapes but... do not plate points count? if i read the points system right I had two points for winning the plate which would give me 3 ??? Hi Jiffy Ok you are confusing the ladies ranking system with the grand prix points system..... Ladies ranking points are totally separate to the grand prix. Ladies ranking points are awarded for not only for opens but county championships, All England Ladies, british pairs etc. Points awarded are spread a bit more to cover more players and more events. So points are awarded for any match won including plate games and that goes towards your ranking which is totalled over a 3 year period. The ranking list is just there for everyones reference - no tournaments are qualified for by being at the top of that list,..... The Ladies Grand Prix applies to grand prix events only, which are as mentioned before the opens and ladies opens (no county, no all england, no pairs). No points are awarded for the plate in these events just for players reaching the last 16 onwards (and last 8 in the ladies only events). This is a one year list only and the top 8 are invited to the Grand Prix. It basically just includes individual events that everyone can enter over a year. The point breakdown is above As I say I will do something that specifies rules for qualifying for the grand prix and get them on the website. Hope this clears up any confusion (or I hope I have not confused you more!) Nigel
