I have seen somewhere that this is being held at the Ambassedeur?
Their current prices are £33 per person half-board, are we getting a discount?
Thanks Chris

Hi Chris Just looked on their site and think £33 is b&b Half board is £40
Flights from Gatwick are cheaper with BA (£86 ) than Flybe (£101) per person!
Sorry to be a pain but should know my availability by the weekend just waiting on a couple of things.

Hi everyone, Jean is right about the flights from Gatwick, British airways are about £20 cheaper than Flybe. Dave Jones from Jersey has secured us a deal at the hotel for that weekend. £28 bed & breakfast or £35.50 Half Board. Book direct with the Hotel on 01534 724455. Any problems, please let me know

Poor dropout rate in the men's this year.
Do I notice a newbie added to the bottom of the men's list?

It still looks a strong team. Good to see Milko back after a too-long self-imposed exile. Also good to see Milhouse get his first chance, and won't be phased by off-the-spot. Revenge time for England for two years ago? 8-)

This is a difficult one, being a selector myself you obviously want to pick the players that have performed best over the year (well that’s my view) even if they turned down playing in the away match. I can see that it would be disappointing for players that pay the money to travel away to then be discarded for the home match, when it seems almost everyone who gets selected becomes available to play.
I know it’s not the only reason why 5 players in the men’s team/squad have withdrawn but the cost of flying and hotel prices has got to be one of the reasons. It’s also maybe to do with the fact that it’s a lot of money to pay when you only play 2 legs of Bar Billiards, surely the time has come to do the same as we do when we play in the other International against Guernsey, that is to play pairs as well as singles to make it more worthwhile to travel across to play. Having played in the Guernsey v England match in Guernsey earlier in the year I would have to say that it is much more enjoyable and also gives the away team a chance to adjust to the different type of tables before playing the slightly more important singles matches.
May I say thanks to Dave & Clive for your kind comments and hope I will be able to perform to the best of my ability.
I will also be happy to stand down and let others play for the next “home” international.
Good luck to all the players who are playing in the men’s & ladies teams in Jersey next year.
Happy New Year to you all
Keith

Welcome back Keith, we`ve missed you ;D. Although we`ve had several withdrawals, i`m with the team we are taking over. Lots of experience amongst us and i`m confident we can reverse the 2009 result. Bring it on :P ;D
