Bell A 1976-84 7 3 3 Post on here if you had an association with any of these great teams !The Bell situation was slightly different to that of the dominancy of the preceding ones, in that 13 players were used, not all at once, but the team underwent a series of changing lineups. Mick and I only joined the team (from the Queens Head) in 1981/82 and by that time some of the 'greats' (Si Butler, Colin Peskett, Richard Marshall) had left and in that year the Bell A struggeld, only finishing 4th (behind the White Hart Cranleigh, the Partridge and the Windmill A). However, the following year we stormed it with the following side : A.Franks, J.Slee, C.Thompson, M.Holmwood and Bob Mobsby and reserve Bob Rice, and not only won the league by a clear 20 points, but lifted the Treble of League, Team Cup and Festival Cup. This (1982/83) was 'The Year of the Franks'. Tony was Individual Champion, beating Slee in the final, and won 'Player of the Year'. He also won the Mixed Doubles with wife Pip, and having won the Sussex Singles the previous year this entitled him to represent Sussex in the Southern Counties - which he won - and then went on to win the All-England title.
