I beat James Osborne 2-0 tonight at the Old House. The first game was tight all the way and I won by finishing on the 200 hole. The table ran fairly straight - I believe that Paul checked it over earlier, thanks to him for that! 8-) The table did present some challenges, but none of them seemed unfair. Yes I did - it wasn't in its proper place - it was 6 inches closer to the window than it needs to be and 1 inch away from the heater on the back wall. As soon as I moved it to its normal position - flush to the heater (which wasn't on!) and the left edge about 4 inches in from the corner of the panel behind the table it was fine - a small roll (nothing worse than, for example, the Swan) on a couple of holes but mostly straight. The break was (as usual) a bit tricky but perfectly gettable. Once again, thanks! :) I would not have been able to cue off the RH side for the 200 if the table had been any closer to the window. As I very rarely attempt a 200 from the LH side, I might not have hit it with enough confidence. So I think I owe you a beer! Agreed, the break was tricky, but gettable. The few rolls were quite minor. I think the biggest problem that we both struggled with was the whippy pockets. On a side note, as we were having a chat after the match, four teenagers (3 guys and a girl) asked if we had finished with the table and they took over from us. They were clearly having a lot of fun, which was good to see.

Pete and Danny beat Bolton and Coach last night 2-0. Heard it was a last ball game on both games on an ok Marine View table! :)

Lady H & myself beat Dave & Colleen 2-1, on an unpredictable West Tarring top. After playing in Portsmouth all weekend, it was nice not to have to wind loads of side on the break. It was just so whippy up the top of the table. Should make for an interesting Cup Final in a couple of weeks :P

Two good Ladies semi-finals played at the Swan tonight.....
Lorraine v Gina Lorraine won the first game with the break, Gina levelled the match and so to the decider..... Lorraine was off early allowing Gina to take the lead, Lorraine hit a couple of nice breaks to gain the lead again and was about 500 in front when the bar dropped with balls around the 50 hole.... Gina didn't quite allow enough for the roll and came off, Lorraine potted a couple of the balls and then Gina cleared the rest leaving the last ball for the 200 hole to win..... but sadly the black peg got in the way leaving Lorraine the winner 2-1.
Sandra v Colleen Colleen off to a good start with the break and although Sandra closed the gap, she couldn't catch up.... similar story in game two with Sandra keeping the lead throughout and we had another decider..... Colleen off with 1.5k, Sandra replied with 1.3k and the balls went to the back of the table, Colleen first to get the break back and stretched the lead to just over 1k and was able to keep that lead for the rest of the game to win 2-1.
Best of luck to both of the ladies in the Final. 8-)
