Was just thinking about a couple of things which could be quite interesting to see (well i think so anyway!)
Has anyone got all of the BBQ's that they could scan in and upload to the AEBBA Website to have a good record of all comps going back a fair few years ?
With the rankings, if someone does have the above, to do an all-time ranking list adding up all points earned since they began ?
Just a couple of thoughts............

Hi Mark The BBQ scan has been mooted before and it's a brilliant idea but is a huge job unless someone has an auto-feed scanner that will get on with the job unattended. Alternatively if Pete still has all the old BBQ files (which I doubt) then it would be simple. What was thought previously is that someone should co-ordinate it (you? ;D) and send a few to several people for scanning so that the load is spread. Personally I think the ranking points thing would be a rather meaningless labour-of-love for someone... ;) cheers Tony PS I'll be your first volunteer to scan a few...... PPS On second thoughts some of the BBQs may need editing somewhat! ;D

Hey mark , I do have most of the bbqs so could help there. With regards to ranking points, sadly I do have an all time list, with highest positions, no of years in top 10 and total points etc. Could easily be uploaded, just didn't think there would be much interest!

I have almost all of them and an autofeed scanner.
Problem though would be webspace as scanning them to PDF will create large documents. Sixty BBQ's at fifty pages each is 3000 sides, a lot of disk space at probably a quarter meg per page.
Easy enough to put on the website menu system if each is scanned as a whole BBQ but will be very slow to load for most people's connection.
Best I try one.
This must be done properly if it to be done and integrated with the website files for permanent storage. As stated elsewhere, tinypic storage and similar is erased after a period. Too much stuff is still being put on here as pictures and WILL be lost as personalities come and go.

Would we not need to ask the "Editor" for "Copying Rights" because I wouldn't want us to cause any upset to the person who "invented" the BBQ??

I've spoken to Peter via Facebook and had a very pleasant reply saying that he was quite happy for us to do what we wish with them with his blessing.
cheers Tony
