This will be of interest to the Wallingford and Oxford secretaries hopefully. The Red Lion at 3 Abingdon Road, Drayton, Abingdon, Oxfordshire OX14 4JB now have a table and the landlord is keen to get a team going. It may be worth contacting him...
He is also now a member of this forum so a PM may work to amoore (Andrew Moore)
Added to our Googlemap
cheers Tony

Didn't get the time to go there, but did speak to a couple of the pool players who play there!
To start the story, they turned up for a home game two/three weeks ago to find that the pool table had been taken out and the landlord didn't even bother to tell them!
Apparently they are trying to do more food in the pub and they associate a pool table with trouble, so have decided to take it out! They were not aware that a bar billiard table had been put in in its place.

I was in there on 26th March and the pool table was still there then. I do remember them saying though that they were looking at getting a BB table.

After the World Bun Throwing Championships in Abingdon-on-Thames yesterday afternoon we headed to Drayton and the Red Lion for a game of Bar Billiards. A nice pub and a good table. I introduced my brother to the game and he promptly scored 400 with his first shot (red ball to 200-hole). Our match finished one each - a re-match for the summer is planned. A photo of the table can be found at the bottom of this blog post - hamandeggerfiles.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/day-out-of-bun-throwing-crazy-golf-and.htmlI must say, the positioning of the table is the best we've found to date (the Strathmore Arms near Hitchin was good too). There was plenty of room to manoeuvre and you could play sudden-death shots from either side. There was a handy rulesheet pinned near to the table too.
