Hi, I am importing a jelks thruppeny table from England... And while searching for bar billiards info in Italy I came across this.... www.banfiadeliobiliardi.it/museo.htmlIs it possible that this pre dates the English manufacturers ? Rgds Neill (Rome , Italy)

Rgds Neill (Rome , Italy) It's certainly very possible Neill. There were many variants of the game in mainland Europe and it is only one or two that found their way across the channel and were 'developed' by English manufacturers. The game certainly does NOT originate in the UK.... There are others on here that know more than I!

European bar billiards (billard russe) certainly pre-dates the standard width English game as that is where the English Jelks tables were copied from.
My suspicion has always been that the narrow tables in England pre-date the Jelks as well.
