Perhaps I should have made the cheque a lot bigger. ;D :-*

Kennington SC 5 Masons B 0
*Keith Sheard 15,760 Ernie Smith 590 Pauline Withey 11,550 *Dave Butt 3,000 *Mark Trafford 16,760 Martin Skyrme 210 Steven Sheard 20,450 *Phil Light 450 Pauline Withey 10,750 *Chris Webb 2,120
Brks-Me 13,690, Pauline 6,460, 5,090 & 9,960, Mark 16,160 & Steven 20,450
Steven held the Highest Away Break with 13,610 before last night but that was beaten by me & then Mark before Steven regained it with a superb 20,450. I now look forward to playing him on the same table next week in the Semi Final of the Singles. ??? ;)
The last game should have been break apiece but as we’ve had NO confirmation about what happens on a Neutral table, we decided that Pauline should chase the break.
I must finish this report by saying how disappointed we were that 4 of the Masons team didn’t turn up until 9.10pm when the match should start at 8.30pm. The only player that was there on time was the captain and he had no idea where his team-mates had got to. I would have thought that the polite thing to do was to phone us or there captain to say they would be late. When they arrived they walked straight past us without even an apology or reason as if nothing was wrong. It was then that I asked for an apology and got one from one of them.....thanks.
By the way, the reason eventually given was that they had to send the taxi away because it could take only 4 passengers and there were 5 needed!!
Finally, I would like to congratulate the Masons B on winning Section One and hope that this scenario will not dent the friendship that we have with all of this team.
Keith
PS Well done Mark on a fabulous season and winning 20/21 matches. 8-)

Headington Con Club V Gladiator Club 'B'
1. Sid Ponting 1100 lost to Phil Clark 2820 :) Both players struggled with the table in this game, but Phil struggled just a little bit less. 2. Tim Jeffreys 1570 beat Jenny Webb 740 :( Jenny did not like the table at all, and Tim did not score as many as I thought he would, looks like the table is very tricky. 3. Graham Mildenhall 1470 lost to Grant Johnson 1650 :) Closer game this one Grant always just in charge. Graham had the last few balls after the bar dropped and was about four seventy down could not keep the red up. 4. Keith Hollis 0 lost to Reg Johnson w/o :( don't like to get a point like this but it was unavoidable. (This point needs a committee verification as the circumstances are rather strange). 5. Dave Gordon 670 lost to Pete Smith 4470 :) Pete with four mini breaks of just over 1k each managed to be top scorer on the night, with a good win over Dave who toppled the black peg about half way through. I played Neil in a friendly game after the match and found out why players were struggling with the table, I will not put in words what everyone was saying there about the table. :'(

After Masons, Demos, & Comrades all losing 5-0, Glad's A sneaked in for runners up spot after beating DCC 4-1 at the Masons :) Bert Lovegrove was top scorer for Glad's with 5060 and Dennis 5440 for Didcot.
