Congratulations to all the winners, especially RP who played extremely well all night.
A thank you to the Committee for organising the event, plus to Alfold Club for hosting the evening and the bar billiard team for providing the bar staff and food.
A mention should also be made in respect that Springbok Club won a special Sportsman Award, for their commitment and hospitality throughout what was a difficult first season for them.

Special congratulations to Richard on landing all three 'blue riband titles'. I'm pretty sure this has never been done before in the Billingshurst League.
The perpetuals couldn't have come into better hands from the point of view of the website: Richard, perhaps you could give me a list of the engraving sometimes so that I can fill in some of the years we have missing.
Thanks, tommo

Congratulations Richard, an excellent nights work. 8-) As Tommo said, I'm not sure this has been done before by one player. Also, congratulations to the rest of the Stout House Z team on doing the Double with the Team Cup and Div 1 Titles.

If a Final Averages list was given out on the night, is there any chance someone could scan it for me (like last year) ?
thanx, tommo

Congratulations Richard, an excellent nights work. 8-) As Tommo said, I'm not sure this has been done before by one player. Having now sifted through all the records, the Grand Slam of Singles, Pairs and Mixed Doubles has been achieved just once in each of the local leagues, Richard being the first for Billingshurst: 1977/78 John Slee (Horsham League) 1981/82 Peter Gibbs (Crawley League) 1985/86 Gerry McCarthy of Horsham (Sussex Finals) 2010/11 Richard Plaw (Billingshurst League)All of the above landed all three titles on the night. I myself had a chance in 2001/02 when I was in all three Mid Sussex finals, but sadly only managed to win one of them - the Mixed Doubles !

Thanks Richard, Have fond memories of this one, having won it with Red Lion (73/74), Bell A (84/85) and Railway (95/96). ;D One engraving mistake: the White Horse A won it in 1980/81. :-X But the main thing is, you've given me about 8 of the missing years for the website. 8-)

Thanks Richard,
More gaps filled from the early years, thanks for that. Pity so many gaps on the cup's engraving, but at least we have a full picture of who the winners were on the website.
Boo-hiss to Dunplaying for 97/98, by the way. ;D :'( :'( :'( ;D

Thanks once again, Richard........just the Pairs now to go ?
What a shame they had such a quirky way of recording their champions in the early days - by pub rather than by name. At least I have the names (where known) recorded for posterity on the website.
And of course, many years have been missed off on the engraving - and there will be three years to add now!
Two errors I have spotted: John Thayre played for the Three Compasses A when he beat me in the final in 77/78 (he joined the Mucky Duck a season later). And Lloydy won it in 96/97; it was the late Ray Burchell who won in 97/98 (as I know to my cost!) ::)
