My third most copious collection is of the multi-talented Cathy Dennis (Norwich's finest). I bought her video in the first week of release in 1991 and have never seen it on sale since apart from on eBay. I have all her works on 7" 12" and LP (vinyl) and also on CD (including all the different mixes). I doubt if these days she'd want to fling herself about on stage in the doc martens and tight-fitting cat-suit, but she's still the right side of forty.

She's penned several number ones, notably Cant Get You Out Of My Head for Kylie and Toxic for Britney. That's Cathy singing on Toxic by the way, not Britney who has a lower voice and sings with a sort of hiccup.

Are there any more jokes written in hieroglyphics on your cave wall?

Just seen an hour of Kylie (the Showgirl Tour) on Sky Three followed by her recent interview. Struck with how beautiful, brave, sexy, intelligent she is. Much better stage presence than Madonna. Why is modern music such crap? The only decent modern band is Coldplay. Wifey and I are tempted to get tickets for Kylie's comeback concert at Wembley in January.

This is who I now have on my car stereo all the time : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerina_PallotAbsolutely excellent, a sort of cross between Alanis Morrissette without the yodelling and Kate Bush without the wailing. And she hails from the last place on earth you'd think of - Jersey !!! ;D Her "Fires" album is loaded with great tracks, some of which sound familiar (but you never realised who they were by.) I only discovered this because my niece bought me Fires for my birthday.

This Saturday (13th Jan), 10.10pm, Channel Four, Kylie's Homecoming concert being shown. Two and a half hours of total brilliance. 8-) 8-) And - disregarding the gay dancers - I enjoyed every minute of it. If I was wearing a hat, I'd take it off to her. ;D

I've always liked her, even back in her Neighbours days as garage mechanic Charlene when she used to wield a spanner and tell people to "rack off". ;D

How about this then ? I was bidding on a rare Cathy Dennis CD (Just Another Dream in black cover) three tracks only, but was gutted when it topped £20 :'( - even I am not that mad.
It eventually went for £31.09.

Vince Noir: (funk) "Jazz' deformed cousin!"
Back to Duffy, just listened to the Rockferry album - excellent right the way through to the blasting good last track "distant dreamer". She writes a lot of her own material too, very impressive.

Vince Noir: (funk) "Jazz' deformed cousin!" Well I haven't sat here and thought of a phrase about "pop" music. I am pretty sure I am not falling for the conditioned society though :P ;D

'Blasting good' is a good description..........I love the sort of sixties throwback style of the backing track - sometimes Tamla, sometimes big band. You know, the type of sound on Give Me A Little More Time by Gabrielle............ Which reminds me, last week I picked up the DVD 'Lisa Stansfield live at Ronnie Scott's': played it Friday night before going to bed, it was absolutely stonking. 8-)

Caught a bit of Amy Winehouse on Friday night: Not too bad when she makes the effort.
Switched on late last night to catch a bit of Glastonbury highlights, very disappointed to find it was all taken up by Jay-Zee: Not what I call music. In desperation, did a bit of channel-hopping and finished up watching an old Oasis concert.

I went to see Seasick Steve at the Brighton Dome last night. Amazing showman and an insight to his new album I started off with nothing and got most of it left. Which has now reached the charts. Such dizzy heights for an American hobo!

Cop a load of this.................
Sure it's Madonna in the video, but the track is by Sia (Furler).
