Thanks to Norman TJ will be partnering Davy Richardson in the doubles. Guernsey's one and only Scottish Bar Billiards Representative, aka "Little Legs" A Legend in his own Lunchtime. One of the few people to beat Trevor Gallienne when he was world champion. Could be a memorable pairing.

I've just booked mine & Ians lift with Bob to the hotel and he has told me who I've got in the draws. In the singles I've got to play Jon Bamsey at 10am and in the doubles Ian & myself have got Andy Rundle and his partner.
So, all that way to play someone who lives only a few miles up the road!!
I'm trying to remember what he did to us in Bournemouth!! ::)
Ian has to play Trevor Gallienne at 10.45.......some people have all the luck!! ;D

I`ve taken a walk around the corner to the venue and had a look as i`ve not taken part this year in setting up. I would like to thank all those that have taken many hours of their time to set up this years open, those in particular are paul dyer (diddy), gary naftel, matt ogier and dave de jersey, these names i mention because they are the ones i saw giving all the hard work and effort. Those of you that get involved with opens and doing the setting up will know how tired you get and how it can have an effect on your game, lets hope everyone plays well. looking forward to a great open and think maybe a few shock results could be happening

Congratulations to Kevin Tunstall for his victory in the Guernsey Open yesterday, defeating Trevor Gallienne thanks to a superb table run out of 16,450 in the Final, a target that Trevor was unable to reach as he conceded after having a ball whip out of the 50 pocket early in his replying break.
Quarter-Finals Chris Tupper 2,030 - 18,580 Curt Driver Graham Bisson 5,590 - 11,930 Trevor Gallienne Paul Barnett 5,520 - 4,680 Mark Brewster Kevin Tunstall 7,300 - 6,610 Dave Ingram
Semi-Finals Curt Driver 4,690 - 8,110 Trevor Gallienne Paul Barnett 9,110 - 15,480 Kevin Tunstall
Final Trevor Gallienne 350 - 16,450 Kevin Tunstall
Michael Phillips (Jersey) beat (Mrs) Chris Newson in a closely fought Plate Final that ebbed and flowed both ways during the match, Michael securing the game with a couple of minutes left in the second game.
Plate Quarter-Finals Dave Hampton 2,860 - 4,590 Paul Mason Tom Oliver 5,520 - 7,480 Michael Phillips Mrs Chris Newson 6,690 - 2,790 John de Gruchy Steve Walker 1,620 - 3,400 Colleen Park
Plate Semi-Finals Paul Mason 1,100 - 5,030 Michael Phillips Mrs Chris Newson 6,790 - 1,940 Colleen Park
Plate Final Michael Phillips 10,610 - 7,650 Mrs Chris Newson
The new Pairs competition proved very popular on the Saturday afternoon and was won by Chris Tupper and Harry Barbet, who defeated Curt Driver and Mark Brewster in the Final...... I didn't take any details of the previous results, so maybe somebody else could give some information about those....?
On a final note, a massive THANK YOU to everybody involved with organising and running the whole weekend..... especially Tom, Sue and Luke who ran the desk, Darren, Mat, Gary and Diddy (Paul) who arranged the tables and anybody else that I haven't mentioned.
I thought that the Les Rocquettes Hotel was a lovely venue, great rooms, superb food and service from all the staff and management who all made us feel very welcome. The venue room itself was very good (if slightly cosy on a few occasions!) and conveniently placed near the main bar, which proved a popular alternative area for many. ;D
Fingers crossed that it will be held there again next year...... we will definitely be back if it is! 8-)

Just two things to add to Dave`s report, the High break awards went to Curt Driver 17,900 and Lady H 2,830 (second year running).
Great venue, great food, well organised competitions, a couple of interesting tables thrown in, excellent sponsorship. We`ll be back next year ;D

Just got home from the Guernsey Open on the CAT.. oh YUK !! and my car got slightly damaged as waves were 3metres to 3.5 metres !!
but... that aside we had a lovely mini break and met up with some great friends from Bar Billiards.
The journey was at the start for me daunting with us requiring facilities for Chris to keep his leg prone and needing wheelchair access but I cannot fault Condor staff who were absolutely excellent to the finest detail of care on both journeys despite the poor seas on the way back.
The Le Rocquettes Hotel facilities were superb but the staff were totally OUTSTANDING they did everything they could and beyond to make the stay a pleasure, with the food in the restaurant and staff service being totally worth going back for.
The day was run to perfection thank you to all the organisers.
Lastly a huge thank you to all the Bar Billiard friends that went, Chris had not been out for a month and although he had to spend a fair time in the room laid up, he felt so much better over the weekend from all your chat, care and kind wishes.
Brilliant Open xxx

My first time in Guernsey and enjoyed it very much. I agree with the earlier complimentary comments, but just a couple of, hopefully constructive, observations. A PA system would make Tom's job a lot easier, possibly making it less likely that he ends up with a sore throat through having to shout. I also think that this event will grow, as word spreads that it's a cracking weekend. If that should happen, I don't think the room is big enough, as BBW said it was a bit "cosy" at times.

many thanks to the kind and constructive comments. its important to us to learn from those who take part as we want to keep improving. the hotel are keen to have us back. a PA system was there just needed to plug in the mic but Tom thought his throat was up to it!!
the cosy room was always going to be a concern and if interest increases then a new venue may he required although the hotel are very keen to help out and we might be given another corner to use.
its great to have so many kind comments and good to keep up with the bar billiard regulars. hats off to Mr T. for and outstandimg performance on a red hot Rangers Table Nr 7!
i know the jersey world championships are planning some very interesting changes this year which means players will have more games and i intend to persuade our committee to adopt the same approach. hopefully, making our open more appealing.
thanks again to all who took part and look forward to seeing you again next time.
as for Mr Hampton, pinching my shirt under each arm pit worked a treat, dont forget your clubs next year, we want you on the course as well as the tables.

I would also like to thank the organisers for a well run event, it is a very unique one Guernsey and well worth the visit. Be interesting to see what different formats you may come up with for the weekend. The pairs was also a success, giving us games on the Saturday too.
I think the venue was much better than last year, nice pub next door with all the footie on we could watch in between games.

Well done to KT on his win, excellent recovery from a sticky start to the final to run the table out. Well organised, excellent hotel Well done to Tupps and Harry for winning the doubles.
Thanks to Davy ( little legs) for partnering me in the doubles, great laughs and good to meet new faces.

Just to add our comments on the weekend............
Very enjoyable, well organised, so many friendly people. Some top-class billiards was played, too many heroic performances to name them all, but will single out Paul Barnett for whom off-the-spot rules seem tailor-made. Good to see Chris Newson up and about and to witness Chrissie playing so well in the Plate. Pleasing to see Graham Bisson back to good health. Good to see some first timers, like Big TJ and also Barbelman and Bacchus from Oxford. Well done to KT - probably the Warrior came closest than anyone else to beating you. And that nice Mr Gallienne - now a three-times runner-up, hope I'm there to witness you winning it which you must undoubtedly do eventually. The venue was a success, easy to park. Our own hotel was good, with 5-course dinners. :-* And thanks to Norman for his as-usual invaluable tips on the best routes to follow. A bit scary on the return voyage, as Chrissie says, but the years have led us to realise that Weymouth is never as smooth a crossing as to Poole or Pompey. A further shock awaited when we discovered that our 10-month old kitten had not only broken the cat-flap but also got into the conservatory and damaged an ornament and wrecked the blinds. ::) Bring on Guernsey 2012 !
