Charles Dickens 4 v 1 Smugglers
*Tony Burgess 1900 v Colin Green 1980
Both players struggled, Colin lost almost as many as he scored, and needed the last red ball in the 200 to win.
Graham Lewis 4160 v *Mal Spier 4110
Another last ball game. Mal had first go and missed, Graham didn't.
Paul Barnett 4570 v *Matt Knight 4250
Both players had a 4k break. Nearly another last ball game.
*Gary Ridley 10940 v Steve Hurley 1400
Gary always in control, several 2k and 3k breaks.
Neil Higgins 11220 v *Dave Jones 130
Dave let me in early and a 4k and a 6k break did the job.
Return match next Thursday.

Ashburnham Arms 4 Seven Sisters 1
Result: Ashburnham Arms 7 Seven Sisters 3
Another enjoyable evening with the Seven Sisters crowd, table played well tonight with the home side reaping the benefits, Tony Smith was the stand out performer for the away side with a very good performance to grab their only win of the night.
Thanks again to Chris Haynes' team for an enjoyable two legs, will have to make it a double over the Eastbourne sides to make it through the next round!

The Atlas vs The Albion, played at the Atlas on the 12th June 2013
*Grant Tully 13,760 - 1,690 Kevin Hall Jim Millward 10,790 - 5,710 *Alan Brackenridge Mark James 8,070 - 3,250 *Kevin Stoner *Glenn Chubb 5,600 - 1,210 *Sandra Hall Geoff Jukes 9,280 - 2,860 *Bella Stoner
5-0 to the Atlas on the night. Fairly good stndard of play, Grant was as steady as always, Jim looked in control apart from one shot. Mark and Kevin both had chances and kept leaving the 1up short! I had nothing but 20k on my mind and flew to 5k only to peg my opening break with the ball whipping around the 20 hole, and Geoff when he got on after just under 3k from Bella looked steady and in control to wrap up a very nice victory for us.
The return leg is this coming Wednesday.

Any dates set yet for the other three quarter finals now nearly half way through June and end date end June. I have spoken to Nigel about Laughing Fish v Black Horse and I am now waiting for him to come back with some possible dates.... I would imagine that we will not be able to organise anything until Gareth is back from his honeymoon. ;)

Results card for Whatney Mann 1st leg
The Ashburneham v The Star played at the Ashburnham
Sandy Harmer* 8140 v 4300 Phil Osborne Sean Taylor 3760 v 11690 Colin Southouse* Mike Osborne 4040 v 2320 Fred Pope* Mike Daw* 10540 v 1810 Alec Pope Roy Harmer 1150 v 9140 Stewart Chant*
About 56,000 points in 1 5game match says a lot about Ash table
result The Ashburnham carry over a 3-2 lead to the 2nd leg to be played at the Star on 30th June
Sandy opened up with 3k followed by 5k before Phil could get the break back getting 4k and broke down just before the bar
Colin had breaks of 2k,5k and 2.5k Sean had few chances but was unable to stay on the table
Fred opened with 1.5k Mike recovered with 2k and kept ahead for the rest of the game
Mike opened with 3k Alec failed to get the break back leaving mike to get another 5k and finished with 2k before the bar
Stewart opened with 4.5k leaving Roy a lot to do, another 2.5k gave roy just enouth time to play the table for the win but pegged on 3k leaving stewart to take the game in probably his best game of the year to give the star a fair chance to take the match in the 2nd leg

Rather than just post the scores, due the the heroics of two individuals in particular, I've decided to give this match the write up it deserves. And seeing as our captain was unfortunately absent this evening, due to the evil collaboration of myself, Kev and Steve, he will now be hearing the actual truth of what happened for the very first time! ::) 8-) ;D
The Albion vs The Atlas - 19th June at The Albion - Second Leg (0-5 after the first leg)
*Jean Brackenridge 10,070 - 6,950 Grant Tully This was a fairly simple game, Jean went off with a excellent break of 10,070 and then Grant went on to play the table outs. That's the highest competitive ladies break I've seen in a long time, so well done Jean. 1-0 to the Albion.
Alan Brackenridge 4,450 - 8,600 *Glenn Chubb I did my usual and came off with next to nothing. Alan then went up and down the table and got up to 4k, and when I got back on I played the table out for the remaining ten minutes. 1-1 and that's the overall tie wrapped up.
Bella Stoner 1,580 - 12,040 *Steve Mariner Don't think Steve went off with much, but I saw Bella leave the 1up short and Steve then went on to punish her for that mistake. In the end Steve won the game comfortably. 2-1 to the Atlas.
*Kevin Hall 21,870 - 0 Mark James The leg really was as simple as the score suggested. Kev kicked off and didn't give Mark a single shot, playing the entire table out for an awesome break of 21,870. Had it not have been for a few roll ups on the 50 hole he would have easily past 22k, but none the less, a superb break by young Kev and his highest break to date. Well done Sir, and I look forward to seeing you carry that form into the opens. I will remind you again though, that is the one and only time you will ever hear me cheering you on :) 2-2 on the night going into the final game.
Kevin Stoner 1,500 - 12,470 *Geoff Jukes I would be lying if I said I saw much of this one (booze, fags and all that!), but what little I did see consisted of Geoff looking very comfortable and running in a nice score of over 12k to finish the night off with a 3-2 victory to us, and an 8-2 victory for the Atlas overall.
Thanks ever so much for our hosts the Albion, always a pleasure. And especially well done to Jean and Kev. Also we missed you tonight skipper! See, it's wasn't that bad after all was it!

Charles Dickens 2 White Hart 3
Good result for us on a changeable top - good, difficult, good :-/
Nick Brown 3410 v 1230 Chocie - Nick off early. Stu made a 4k break then pegged them.
Barney 3220 v 5350 Nipper - Both players missing the break and Martin ended up playing one up/split to level.
Neil 3010 v 2500 Dunc - Another close game where Neil timed his 3k break perfectly
Gary 4680 v 6590 Ricky - Table started to play better again but Gary off early. Ricky made a good 5k and added a bit more after Gary broke down on his next break.
Tony B. 980 v 11700 KT - I didn`t go in with many but had several breaks to take the win.
Second leg next Thursday.
