Oh JT you make me smile, its not if, its a matter of when the Railway have a good result against us, though as ever we will try our best to throw a spanner into the works. ;)
Scuba, Just think POSITIVELY, Springbok Club is due a win, so why NOT this week JT
Thanks RP and you are right we are due a win, it will come and perhaps tonight it will happen. Gawd I hope so, the fines for the curry fund for knocking down the pegs over the last two seasons are mounting and a real feast to be had. We have to win a game before we can claim it, carry on as we are and we are likely to be able afford a flight to India to pick one up. ;D

Hi Everybody Well it is the last week of the season, where does the time go hwne you are having so much fun Here are the matches to be played Wednesday 17th April, scorecards will follow later To retain their title Stout House Z's have to win 5 - 0 at Roffey, a tough task. Mind you it could be a little tense if they win the first two or three games If they loose against Roffey, and the Railway have a good result against Springbok, Railway could finish Runner's Up, the Z's need two points against Roffey Promotion from the 2nd Division is decided with The Mill House being Champions, with the Nomads finishing Runners-Up, both will be promoted. The Blue Ship are relegated, with one of The Three Bees, Limeburners, or Southwater SC joining them. Good Luck JT
ROFFEY SSC v STOUT HOUSE 'Z' (Postponed, being played Wednesday 1st May) RAILWAY v SPRINGBOK CLUB SOUTHWATER SC v ALFOLD SC BLUE SHIP v DUN HORSE STOUT HOUSE ‘A’ v THE THREE BEES LIMEBURNERS v BLUE SHIP (NOMADS)
Oh JT you make me smile, its not if, its a matter of when the Railway have a good result against us, though as ever we will try our best to throw a spanner into the works. ;)

Springbok SC 0 Southwater Club 5
B Hicks 1880 R Manser 3290
Bill was unfortunate that the balls did not roll his way, though put together a solid 1K, Ray on the other hand did have the roll of the table and secured the win with a high break as the bar dropped.
G Jarrett 620 K Newman 1760
A bit of a scrappy affair in which Graham found the BP, Keith found some form to keep in front and stay there.
T Goacher 2060 M Blake 2580
Quite a good game this, with both players putting together decent breaks, I lost nearly 700 on the way, which would have put the game beyond Mel, but he played the table out at the end ensuring I could not get the points back.
G Marshall 1290 T Franks 3760
Another good game that saw poor Gaz lose over 3K, which as we know is an error against Tony. Both players played well and either deserving of the point.
R Parsons 1600 A Temple 2930
Tony took the early lead and stayed there, Ron played well and hit some lovely shots, but not able to get the break back was always going to be a problem.
A great night, shame about the result, it seems the Springbok's form has returned to how we started the season. Hey HO there is always next year.
Great grub appreciated by all.

Blue Ship 5 Springbok Club 0
In order of play;
S Bailey 1110 B Hicks 700
A game in which neither Simon or Bill shone really, both found it hard to get the break back hence low scores. Bill was in front but Simon done enough with the bar dropping to claim the point.
S Holden 3350 G Marshall 2420
An early error by Gary let Steve in who developed a great break of 2k plus to take a reasonable lead. Gary eventually got going also putting in a 2k break but alas it was too late.
M Johnson 4820 T Goacher 1300
Again an early error by me let Mick in who initially did not take advantage. Balls were gathering on table when Mick playing some decent shots got the break back and put away over 2K. I did have my chances but was not my day with balls refusing to drop.
D Johnson 1850 K Nixon 1270
Both Ding and Ken had their chances with the lead going from one to another, at the later stages of the game Ding nosed in front and cleared the table as the bar dropped.
J Childs 5020 G Jarrett 110
Jamie always in control of this game with Graham unable to win back the break at all. Jamie put together some decent breaks to win the match comprehensively for the Blue Ship.
Great evening as ever at the Blue Ship, lovely grub and decent beer. Thanks

Springbok Club 1/2 The Windmill 4 1/2
G Marshall BP S Eely 4390
Steve started slowly finding the break difficult to master. Young Gaz took an early lead until Steve got into the groove. A nasty ball left by the 200 resulted in Gaz BP with Steve clearing up.
G Jarrett 530 N Tomsett 2040
Nigel seemed to master the table quite well and though not a massive score always looked in control. Graham was having a bad day in the office and never got going.
B Hicks 2100 J Tudhope 2140
A Game that had Bill in front for all the minutes bar the last one, when John sunk the last ball into the 200 hole to claim the frame. Good game from both players.
K Nixon 1370 M Lennon 2860
Mike started well and looked comfortable throughout. Ken put together some tidy runs together but could not get the break back.
T Goacher 2310 L Lennon 2310
This game saw both Lin and myself swapping the lead on several occasions. It took me to clear up remaining balls and sink last into the 200 to claim a share of the spoils.
Smashing evening with great company. Have to say our food was special tonight with a piping hot tray of cottage pie as well as sarnies, pork pies, sausage rolls and chicken legs. Reckon the chef is starting to feel sorry for us as the elusive win escapes us once more.

Limeburners 5 Springbok SC 0
B Hammond 2330 A Goacher 0 BP, BP & BP
Alice stepped in again to help out as we were short, but had no luck. Bill struggled early on but had enough in him to claim the point.
M Davies 3150 B Hicks 1400
Bill started OK finding the break, but left up short to let Mark in. Mark was very steady and played some useful shots.
B Goodchild 790 G Jarrett 360
The scores really tell the story, both Brian and Graham struggled. Graham kicked off well but split 4 times, Brian took a lead and BP, but got the table back as bar dropped to secure the match. As Graham stated "This is the most frustrating game I have ever played"
D Dewdnby 3500 T Goacher 1030
I again found the break but left the 1 up short. Dick got the break back and pushed ahead. I did have chances but failed with a nudge or two on the WP, but Dick deserved the game.
C Sawyer 3540 G Marshall 1020
Gaz started brightly but on the split for 1 up the ball kicked out. Chip on home table easily put points on board. Gaz strung together a decent break only to lose the points and that was that.
Pleasant evening, great sarnies and loved the chips. As usual Bills onions were on show and as good as ever. One or two signs this morning they had an effect :-[

Springbok Club 1, Mill House 4Ron Parsons 550, Graham D 3260 Graham Jarrett 440, tommo 4070 Bill Hicks 1880, Margo 1590 Ken Nixon 510, Alan D 3000 Scubafrog 1680, Mick H 3050 Our first visit to the Boks, and what a nice Club it is. Nothing wrong with the table apart from the break being a little difficult - a good test for the players. Margo's game was cut and thrust but Bill took it well at the end. Lovely food served up afterwards - spicy chicken wings and those nice fluffy rolls with generous fillings of either cheese or ham. Margo started the evening off under a cloud but three large bottles of Bulmers later she came round and I can now hear her falling about upstairs and crashing into things ! ::) Very many thanks to the Springbok Club for a really pleasant evening. 8-) Thanks Tommo, glad you appreciated the evening. Margo seemed fairly relaxed in the end, and I thought she played some great shots and deserved more from her game. Bill said he was relieved she hit the peg on one or two occaisions otherwise he would have lost. Not the best night at the table for us, but hey that is only a small part of the night. Hope to catch up soon.

Blue Ship (Nomads) 5 Springbok Club 0
H Fowler 3270 B Hicks 2320
Bill was ahead in the game for a long period, a 1K+ break as the bar dropped gave Hugh the point.
J Thayre 1520 G Jarrett 750
Neither player had a good game, John was well out of sorts but did enough to put Graham to the sword.
P Barnett 3480 R Parsons 490
Barney was always in control leaving Ron in his wake, despite a valiant effort.
C Barrow 6260 G Marshall 1500
Sparrow shone tonight, had a very steady game. Poor Gaz tried his best but failed when the opportunity rose.
D Sands 2420 T Goacher 2410
I had control of this game until Dave cleared the table at the death to score 500 plus to snatch the victory.
A great evening, with smashing sarnies. The Nomads may not of been at their best, but walk away with a handful of points. Our heaviest defeat for weeks, so back down to earth.

Springbok Club 2 Stout House A 3
G Marshall 3360 T Clasby 100
A totally one sided affair, with poor Tony having no luck whatsoever. Gaz built up several modest breaks to command this game, whilst Tony's efforts ended with missed balls and white pegs. I actually ended up feeling sorry for him.
G Jarrett 360 J Tidy 3920
A similar game to the first with JT taking command, poor Graham just could not get any break going and JT took advantage when given the opportunity.
A Goacher 410 S Short 660
The score line does not do this game justice. Sam started brightly and was commanding the game. Alice pulled off some decent shots to keep her in the frame. Near the end Sam BP, giving Alice the advantage as bar dropped, but Sam pulled together a match winning break to snatch it at the death.
R Parsons 1160 P Trigwell 1570
A close encounter throughout with the table getting clogged with all the balls. Pete kept his nose in front and whilst Ron tried everything to get the break back was not to be.
T Goacher 1840 P Hartley 1820
A close game throughout with neither player shining. As the bar went down Pete put together a break to take the lead, but missed the 100 with the last ball. Fortunately for me I sunk the ball at the second time of asking.
A pleasant evening, lots of banter as usual. Always have a great night with the Stout House team and as ever they offered their encouragement to our players.

Game 2: Bill played a super steady game, Colin struggled to get much going. Game 3: Scubafrog led for most of this close scrappy game, Dave’s 1k playout snatched it. Game 4: Gaz struggled with the table tonight, Pops’ 2k midway enough. Game 5: Graham started well until 4-breaking. Scott slow to start but pulled enough ahead to take the win. Thanks to the Springbok for a fun evening with plenty of chat, a bit of banter and even some singing. ::) ;D Yep a fine evening, there were glimmers of hope for us at one stage or another, but we did not step up when it counted and paid the price. Thought Grant, Pops and Dave did particularly well in their games and well deserved the win, plus Bill for us was an inspiration. Many thanks for a great night and lovely sarnies. Also glad you enjoyed the crooner from the North West ;)

Springbok Club 1 Alfold Club 4
B Hicks 2280 C Greening 3400
A tight game, Bill took an early lead and the Minor needed a 1K+ break as the bar dropped to claim the point.
R Parsons 910 M Greening 1750
A rather scrappy affair with neither Ron or the Major getting to grips with the table. The Major's experience was enough in the end.
G Jarrett 2010 R Burgess 1300
Graham took an early lead and Robin could not claw back the points. Graham kept his nose in front to claim his first ever point in the league ;D
T Goacher BP D Slater 1600
I took the black peg out three times!!!! Twice the ball kicked back from the bottom cushion and skittled it, the third time i was trying to save face. None the less Dave was steady throughout and managed the double over me this season.
G Marshall 3360 G Fishburn 4220
Best match of the evening, both Gaz and Garry put in a decent performance. This was their second game of the evening as the first game ended after 12 minutes as the table had a moment. Our Gaz won that frame but agreed to replay the game as a true sportsman, sadly it came back and bit his ass.
Great night with our local rivals and friends, plenty of pi** take and banter, Happy Days :)

Stout House Z's 3 Springbok Club 2
John 2000 Trevor 2300
I got my nose in front and stayed there for all of the game. Junkie had no luck at all and despite a spirited fight back at the end when the 200 pocket would have leveled the game, fell short.
Denise 2570 Alice 330
Alice valiantly stepped in to cover for illness. Both ladies struggled with the table, though Denise's experience was always going to shine through.
Richard 5750 Graham 1190
A bright start from Graham only led to him pegging, RP stuck 1.5K on the board, fairly matched by a 1K from Graham. RP then got into the flow putting 4K on the board to take the game.
Andy 5490 Gary 2750
Gaz started well and even though came up short on a split Dorsal did not build on the mistake. Gaz had the chance to put the game to bed, but missed a crucial shot, allowing Dorsal to develop a match winning break.
Rick 2330 Bill 2750
Bill started well and managed to stay in front for the whole game. Rick fought bravely to get break back, but it just would not happen.
A great result for us Springbok lads and lass, the table was a bit quirky at the bottom, so may account for the result. The break however was fine, so it was a case of getting it back.
Great night with the Stout House Z's, friendly banter as ever, and some nice sandwiches to finish the night on.

Hi
Can anyone point me in the right direction. There was a thread about a team looking to play a friendly game when any teams had a bye. Springbok has a bye next week and willing to travel to the venue for a game.
Can anyone provide venue and contact details.
Many thanks

G Marshall 4380 Big Jim Silver Fox 3050 Tight game swinging one way then the other, young Gaz hit 2500 to sprint into lead, Jim came back with over 1K but time not on his side. This result has led to this statement from the young un 'That's two of the best players I have now beaten in the league' (referring to previous win against sniffer). Best widen your doors when we come to your place ::) T Goacher 1170 D Cable 4100 Dick had a slow start and I managed to get my nose in front, and that was about it from me. Dick played steady, while I was hell bent on hitting the wood, cost me a fortune :-[ G Jarrett 790 P Fisher 4220 Pete started well and put together a decent break, Graham took at least 3 visits to the table before he managed to hold onto the points. Pete remained fluent throughout the game to take the point. K Nixon 2290 L Cable 4750 A good game from both players, with Moose putting together a couple of decent breaks. Ken was not to be outdone and played his part in a decent game. B Hicks 1330 Twiggy 2480 A closer game than the result tells you. Bill was in front for most of the game only for Twiggy to find his form at the end and rattle in a decent break to snatch the point. Good evening, a nice fun way to start the new year off. The Roffey lads were as ever entertaining and at times quite complimentary so for that we are grateful.

Roffey Club 5 Springbok Club 0
Took a bit of a battering last night from the very accommodating lads at Roffey. Did not note the scores as our Skipper, Gaz, was sulking due to our awful performance, that's what happens after a few close games, he thinks we are world beaters ::).
Anyway, I would like to thank Dick for introducing me to 'Mother in Law', I found her extremely pleasant, so much so I had trouble getting out of bed this morning! ( He can explain).
Now when it comes to disrupting the opponents before the game even starts, the prize has to go to Roffey, they took the trouble to have a poor fella, throw himself on the floor, smash his head leading to paramedics being called. Thankfully the gentleman was attended to very quickly and taken conscious to hospital, but it put us off our game, hence the result ;). And they moaned about the 'Major'.
Happy Christmas to one and all ( well probably to one as not many get on the forum), have a great time and see you all in the New Year.

Word on the street is...... Stout Z 'BFZ' - 5 Roffey SC Springbok 2-3 The Railway FYI... The Boks played some quality Billiards & probably deserved more from the match!!! It's great to see their improvement every time we play them. Scores to follow..... And here are the scores T Goacher 1640 M Clack 3930 I was pants, Mick was not hey ho. B Hicks 2480 M Cork 2130 Bill took an early lead and Mike came back well, had the table and balls at the end to take it but missed a crucial pot. G Marshall 3400 S Merriot 3050 A great game this, Gaz applied early pressure, and Sniffer used all his experience to put 2K together putting the pressure back on the young un, who held his nerve rattled in 500 with remaining balls to take a well deserved win. G Jarrett 1000, Adam 2600 (Sorry cant read my daughters writing of surname!!) A game which Graham started brightly and was unlucky on the way. Skippy kept his head down to put together some decent scores to claim the game. K Nixon BP N Worsfold 2990 If it was a singing competition Ken would have won, however, Nigel was in good potting form and silenced the crooner from the north. A fun entertaining evening, always have a laugh with the Railway lads and appreciate their encouragement.

Southwater Club 4 Springbok Club 1
R Manser 1490 G Jarrett 730
A game in which both Ray and Graham struggled a bit. All balls ended up on the bottom cushion, hence the low scoring game. Graham pegged a few times losing about 1k collectively, so result could have been different
M Blake 2890 N Grouden 630
Norman, only playing his second match ever started slowly and this was matched by Mel. Eventually Mel got it going and though Norman tried, his in-experience of the angles let him down.
K Newman 1900 G Marshall 2480
Gaz started well and Keith struggled at first. Gaz was always in front and lost 800 points along the way to claim the game.
T Franks 6880 T Goacher 1030
Only one person in this encounter. I got the break then missed with second shot. Two breaks of 2.5k and 3k from Tony put this game well out of my reach.
A Temple 1480 B Hicks 1420
A game where both players were not at their best. Bill took an early lead and stayed there as the bar dropped. Then Tony cleared the remaining balls and sank the red in the 100 hole to steal the game at the death.
Pleasant evening, good company and sandwiches.

B Hicks 1930 J Childs 2080
A close game settled with the last ball, both Bill and James played a steady game, Bill lost a load of points along the way, which would have put the game to bed.
R Parsons BP M Johnson 2870
Ron started the better of the two, but found the BP, Mick put decent breaks together and commanded the game. For good measure Ron took the BP out at the end.
G Jarrett 680 S Holden 2990
A steady start from Steve put this game to bed with a very off form Graham struggling to put together any break.
T Goacher 2400 D Johnson 1960
I took an early lead and stayed there, Ding had no luck at all.
N Grouden 1570 C Cathie 2280
Colin started slowly allowing newbie Norman to nose in front, experience won the day with Colin putting together decent breaks to claim the game.
A close match overall despite the result, good company as ever.

Three Bees 3 Springbok Club 2
J Tudhope 4110 B Hicks 1910
Bill started well enough with the break racked up a decent score then left split short, John hit back with a near equal score, before doing the same. Then a close game with both players struggling with the break. John posted a decent score at the end to take the game.
N Tomsett 1280 T Goacher 1970
An odd game with both players deserving more from the table. I took an early lead and stayed there, no massive breaks, but sensible potting using the red ball (see I am learning ::) ). Nigel was ever so unlucky not to get the break, which really helped me out.
S Eely 3240 G Jarrett 1460
Graham started steady, with Steve slow off the blocks. However, Steve's experience came through and he strung together a couple of breaks of 1K, whereby poor Graham was a little off form.
L Lennon 1620 G Marshall 2260
Gary struggled with the break, but Lynn did not take advantage, a game of two fortunes, with Gary having a bit more luck and putting together some modest, but helpful breaks. As much as Lynn tried she simply could not get the break back.
M Lennon 1550 R Parsons 1330
The closest and most entertaining game to watch, with Ron taking an early lead. Mick was struggling a bit and with the pressure of being behind in the deciding leg was proving a bit too much. Ron on the other hand was relishing the moment, pulling off some of the jammiest shots ever seen. With the bar down and one ball to go, Mick nosed in front needing only the 100 to secure the win, he missed!! Ron needed the 200 and he missed and so it went on until eventually Mick hit the spot.
A great night, in good company. Table was a bit quirky for both sets of players, but no complaints. Great grub and decent beer.

Springbok SC 2 Limburners 3
G Jarrett 640 D Dewdney 4250
A steady game from Dick, with a struggling Graham making this a one sided affair, a decent 1700 in the middle sealed the result.
G Marshall 4010 M Davies 2740
A good game this with both Max and Gary building decent scores. It was Gary's knowledge of the table that counted in the end.
K Nixon 2380 B Goodchild 1130
Brian struggled with the break and table in general. Ken built up a good lead which was too much for Brian to claw back.
T Goacher 2720 B Hammond 2820
A game of changing fortunes with both Bill and I taking the lead from one another throughout. I had a 400 lead as bar went with Bill on table. He went for the 100 with last ball and missed, I left it short and then Bill realising 200 would win the game potted it cleanly.
B Hicks 1200 K Vickery 2950
This game could of gone either way, with Bill taking a lead and then the balls getting loaded on table. Ken then put together a series of great shots to clear the table, win the break back and set a decent score. Bill had no answer on this occiasion.
So close, but yet so far for us Springbok lads. To make it worse my colleagues have pointed out had I used the red on three occaisons rather than a white ball, I possibly would have put the game out of Bill's reach, no they are not bitter >:(
Limeburners lads were good company and Bill's onions were well appreciated.

Thanks guys for an enjoyable evening and hope Scubafrog's wetsuit dries out okay ! ;) :DI was really enjoying that pint until I stuck it in my lap :'(, bit uncomfortable for the journey home as well. Tommo thanks for a great evening and for scoring our friendly doubles at the end. Game 1, Graham pegged a 3K break at start and came in with 2K at the end to take the game. Game 2, Similar game to the first with Alan hitting almost 2K at the end. Game 3, Only one in this one I am afraid, not young Gazza's best game, still he was reminiscing playing in the ball pit when he was younger (he used to live down the road), which cheered him up. Game 4, Margo had some bad luck and BP on the way, not a great game from either player. Game 5. Bill kept in front for the most the game, with Mick just ahead as bar went. Bill needed to hold the red for 200, but sank it, hey ho. Thanks again for good night, sandwiches and chips.

A missed break at the start by John let Bill pull ahead, a fairly even game with both players doing enough to take the lead from one another. As the Bar dropped Bill got the break back with enough balls to win, if he left one up for the hundred, sadly his last split was to true and another game for Springbok bit the dust.:( Sure Bill must have won it with a split so true? :-/ Yep see where you are coming from Jim. Had he left the one up like we all seem to do as a norm then the game would have been won, as never seen him miss the 100 on the home table, hey ho

Springbok 0 Blue Ship (Nomads) 5
G Jarrett 1560 P Barnett 2320
A slow start for Barney, allowing Graham to take an early lead, as time went on Barney got to grips with the table and put the points on the board to take the game.
G Marshall 1940 H Fowler 5650
Hugh had no trouble with the break sticking 2K on the board. Gaz had a good go at getting the points back, only to fall short. Hugh stuck another 2K on the board that put the game beyond young Gaz.
K Nixon 1010 D Sands 2730
Similar game to the first one with Ken, on his return to the table for the first time this season, taking command, with Dave struggling to get any points at all. Eventually Dave's experience came through and with a couple of decent breaks done enough to win.
T Goacher 1210 C Barrow 1250
Not a lot to be said really, Sparrow must have hit the wood so many times I thought they were going to wave a white flag. I had every opportunity to put this one to bed, but came up short. Both of us needed the last ball in the 100, I had first go and missed, game over.

As ever a great evening with our friends from the Blue Ship, plenty of banter and support, decent grub washed down with beer, what more do you need, apart from a win :(

Three Bees 4 Springbok Club 1
S Eely 2560 R Parsons 1320
Both players started slowly, but Steve put a couple of decent breaks together to push in front. Ron was always behind, but played a blinder and has to be pleased to break the 000's
L Lennon 1570 G Marshall 1580
Yep it was that kind of game with the lead swinging from one to another. Lynn did nose in front as the bar went but could not hold onto the table leaving Gary to clear all bar one ball which he needed to pot in the 100, which he did at the third attempt.
J Tudhope 2540 T Goacher BP
Only one person in this game and that was John, I was simply awful and used the last ball to BP to save the embarrassment of posting my score :-[
D Tomsett 1790 G Jarrett 920
Another slow start which Graham found himself in an early lead, however Dave's table experience kicked in and he put together a decent enough break to nose in front and build on it, leaving Graham to rue those misses.
M Lennon 2012 B Hicks 490
Bill started brightly and this was matched by Mike, sadly though Bill BP during the course of the game and was playing catch up. Mike continued to build on his lead and like me Bill went to save his embarrassment, but missed the BP and potted in the 200 :o
A good evening in friendly company, money for the table and sandwiches provided by Southwater club much appreciated. All players made a donation to the clubs charity.
