Roffey Club 3 Springbok Club 2 Glyn Owen 2700 Gary Marshall 4700 Gary in control for much of the game, though Glyn fought back, only to find Peggy in his way on a couple of occasions. Dick Cable 1190 Robin Burgess 5060 Rob flew out of the blocks, Dicky had similar issue to Glyn and really could not get going. Twiggy 2670 Trevor Goacher 2430 One of those games I nosed in front for most of the game, Twiggy came back late on to nudge in front as bar went 600 ahead. I had the balls only needed to leave the red to last, but no it went down second to last. Lee Cable 6780 Bill Hicks 2720 A game that saw Bill miss the break and let moose in, however, Bill never out of it until the Moose put the game beyond doubt with a decent break as the bar went down. Steve Hopkins 9710 Mike Edwards 890 Mike started steady, but once Steve got to the table he took control and settled into the game. Nothing Mike could have done. Great night and fair result, could have easily been the other way around.

Railway 5 Springbok Club 0 Skippy 3,460 Bill 1,550 Steady game from Adam, Bill played some super shots and gets better every time I see him play. Nigel 3,650 Alice 740 Alice always up against it playing Nigel the destroyer Ray 2,850 Malcolm 1,830 Malcolm in control for first half of the game, Ray showed patience and finally got the break back to win Mick 4,250 Gary 1,310 Gary off early allowed me in but I mucked up, finally got break back to take the point Mark 1,290 Trevor 1,130 We use the term 'war of attrition' describe some games, this was definitely trench warfare!
So, apart from 'fixing' the draw, playing stone-paper-scissors to decide the nearest ball after the bar had gone and Bill needing to go early (lambing), he couldn't wait for the Baaah to go. We have played our last home game at the Railway, I can hear the chorus of disappointment from the rest of the league at missing out on playing on our super duper top next year. Adam, Boggy and I will be looking for a new home, so if anyone is really desperate give us a shout.
We had an excellent night with the Springy boys and girl, splendid grub from Stella.
It's taken me a week to recover so I can comment on this blatantly fixed game . Firstly, Adam played blooming well to get the break back from a loaded table and yes Bill was unlucky. Alice never had a chance, as a budding hairdresser playing Nigel was more than she could bear (TIC TACS) Super sub Ray put the frighteners on Mike early on clearly a case of getting a ringer in Clacky played for the sympathy vote and got to young Gazza with tales of woe. The young one is just too respectful and refused to put Mick to the sword. And as for Mark and my game . Not a lot to say really though to have the closest ball decided by paper-scissors-rock is a new one on me, and they never asked if I minded, (which I didn't ) As ever a great night, sad that they will not be in the league next season, it has been an iconic venue over the years. Hope to see some of the lads about and we would welcome any of them to us. Plenty of grub from Stella was appreciated as ever.

Springbok SC 1 Southwater SC 4
B Hicks 2740 A Temple 3210
Tony started steady, with Bill struggling to get going, Tony took a good 2K lead before Bill came back at him, only to run out of time.
M Miles 970 R Manser 1640
Ray struggled a bit with the break, but started to get his eye in as the game progressed. Malcolm was unlucky to find Peggy a few times, or the score line would have been reversed.
G Marshall 5000 M Blake 4290
Mel flew out the blocks putting some light between him and Gazza, who just could not get into the flow. With time running out the young un put together almost 3.5K to snatch the game from Mel.
T Goacher 1420 T Franks 5790
Tony struggled with the break letting me in to shoot ahead, and that was about it from me. My game fell apart, though I was given very many chances, which is not like Tony. Tony however, played as cool as ever, put together a couple of decent breaks to put me to the sword.
M Edwards 1320 K Newman
Keith played steady from the start and was comfortable with the break. Mike, continues to improve and will get that elusive win soon.
Nice evening with the masters, bit of banter, and decent grub, makes for a decent night.

Limeburners 4 Springbok SC 1 M Davies 2100 T Goacher 820 Not a tidy game from either me or Mark, though Mark was considerably better then me. I just could not get the balls to go down. R Dewdney 5030 B Hicks 920 Bill started brightly, but left short for Ricky to push ahead. Bill unlucky with a kick out that took the BP whilst accumulating a decent score, which would have given him a chance. C Sawyer 4790 M Edwards 1150 Mike started well but Chip on his home table is always a challenge. As expected Chip played a steady sensible game, but Mike lost over 1000 during his visits and was unlucky on some very difficult shots. B Goodchild 1290 G Marshall 3860 The young Gaz Miester got to grips with the table better than his team mates and pushed ahead. Brian came back with a great break, which would have put him ahead, only to WP and lose his points. There is no justice in this game and though Gaz is worthy of his win, he knows it was almost a different outcome. B Hammond 2890 M Miles 1510 Malcolm continues to improve and pushed ahead, Bill slowly clawed back the points to gain the lead, and though Malcolm tried to close the gap, time was not on his side. A great evening and the table plays OK, it's just the players that could have improved Nice selection of sarnies and blooming lovely chips, Thanks

Stout House A 4 Springbok SC 1
Pete H 2030 G Marshall 3600
An early lead for Gazza made all the difference in this game, leaving Pete to chase throughout. Neither player had much luck and on another night the scores would have been a lot better.
Sam 1990 T Goacher 1230
I found the split twice then left up short, Sam did not take advantage and it was a rather niggly affair until near the end when Sam put decent break together. I had it all to do with the bar down, made a valiant effort but came up short.
Pete T 2340 M Edwards 2070
Mike started brightly and got his nose in front. Pete kept chipping away and soon back in the frame. A late burst from Pete secured the win, but Mike made a very credible attempt.
Tony 3970 B Hicks 1290
A night when nothing went Bill's way. As much as he tried the balls would not go down and Tony gratefully took the pickings. A solid performance from Tony and one from Bill that deserved more than he got.
JT 3460 A Goacher 230
Alice struggled with the break letting JT straight in and as a typical gentleman he took full advantage. The more Alice chased the game the more the pegs went down, (costing me a naan bread!).
A pleasant evening rounded off with decent sandwiches. Well done to the A's, deserved victory.

Alfold SC 2 Springbok Club 3
G Fishburn 1220 G Marshall 4060 Neither player shot out of the blocks and Garry (ASC) certainly was not getting any luck. Young Gazza then steadied the ship and with time running out Garry attempted an all or die shot, which resulted in him losing the points he had accumulated and the game.
C Greening 560 B Hicks 4290 Similar start to previous match, with Bill nudging ahead slightly and the Minor not finding lady luck. Bill kept at it and eventually put together some very good shots to put a wide gap between him and the Minor with no time left.
R Burgess 9880 M Miles 360 Poor Malcolm did one thing wrong and that was leave the split up short. Rob took complete advantage and strung together 2 breaks of 3k and 4k to seal the win.
D Slater 1260 T Goacher 2250 A messy start saw me take a modest lead, I then BP out whilst on a decent score, letting Dave in to push ahead. Both of us were struggling under the pressure and it was not until time was running out that I snuck in a 1k break whilst clearing the table to sneak across the winning line.
M Greening 5320 M Edwards 1260 Mike started well finding the split with ease, however he left up short allowing the Major to stick his nose in front. Mike continued to chip away, but a decent 3k from the Major midway through the game left it a hard task for Mike to overcome.
A great evening with our friends from across the fields, plenty of banter and decent grub courtesy of Rob. Thanks

Springbok Club 2 Three Bee's 3
G Marshall 7400 M Lennon 1640 Mick found the break but then left the second split short letting Gazza in with a 1 K, which he quickly followed with another. Mick was not having any luck and when Gaz hit a 4K the game was beyond his reach.
M Miles 810 S Eely 2450 A closer match then scores show with both players having their chances and not quite pushing on. Steve got control of the game early on and though Malcolm tried his best he just failed on the split having worked hard to get the balls back.
T Goacher 3290 L Lennon 3010 Lynn and I were drawn against one another for the third time in 2 seasons and unfortunately for Lynn I got the upper hand again. I took an early lead, but Lynn came back midway through with a 1k plus break to nose in front. I put together a modest break to pull away as the bar dropped. There was enough balls for Lynn to take the game but lucky for me she got a nasty kick that allowed me to get rid of the red.
M Edwards 1370 N Tomsett 2740 Nigel started comfortably putting a decent score on the board for Mike to chase. Sadly for Mike things were not going his way and Nigel capatilised on any errors made. The later part of the game Mike kicked in, but to late to do any damage.
B Hicks 570 D Tomsett 7240 Dave shot out of the blocks with a decent break, Bill who usually has not issues with the split, kept leaving it short, which Dave was happy to take advantage of. The night was not to be for Bill and with Dave firmly in control he cruised over the winning line.
In my opinion the top played well tonight, which is reflected in the scores. Three Bee's as ever great company and really chuffed they remain in the league after the uncertainty of the pub. Decent grub provided to finish the night off.

White Hart 4 Springbok Club 1 R Padfield 6710 G Marshall 1930 Interesting draw this with young Gazza potentially almost related to the Ricky. Gaz started with a modest score just short of a grand, Ricky responded with half of that again. The young one could not get started and with Ricky stepping a couple of big breaks proved the elder statesman still has it C Barrow 2480 B Hicks 1740 A closer affair with Sparrow starting slowly, but Bill was unable to capatilise. Scores relatively close throughout with Bill chipping away at Sparrows modest lead. A decent break at the end secured this game for the bird man. P Barnett 6920 T Goacher 0 Blimey what can I say, other than sorry to my team members and my opposition. I was simply awful and owing to my utter disappointment in myself was possibly a complete buffoon. I split 4 times, Barney stepped in with 2 rather decent breaks. I BP to save any embarrassment. . Barney was very much on form and had I even made a reasonable attempt would not have got close to him. J Thayre Mike Edwards Unfortunately John was unwell and unable to make it so Mike took the point on a walk over. D Sands 2460 M Miles 1140 Poor Malcolm left the split up short on two occasions letting Dave take control. Though Malcolm made every effort to get back into it, Dave kept a cool head to make it a clean sweep on the night. A pleasant enough night, with good company. Thanks to Simon for the sandwiches.

Springbok Club 3 Blue Ship 2 T Goacher 2920 D Johnson 2570 A close game with me not doing a thing for the most part of the game allowing Ding to take the initiative. Ding was unlucky with the break leaving it up short on a couple of occasions that allowed me to put in two decent breaks at the end to steal the game from her. B Hicks 1750 S Bailey 1250 (played 3rd) This was a scrappy game from both Bill and Simon, with neither of them really getting to grips with the table. The red got stuck on the bulk line early on, so Bill chipped away at the points to keep his nose in front. Simon came back valiantly at the end, but it was just too late. G Marshall 3360 A Maybee 3090 (played 2nd) Great to see Alan back and he has not lost his touch, the early stages saw Gary take the lead, but Alan came back well and had he sorted out the break more consistently would have put the young un to the sword. However, Gary stuck to it to take the point for the Springbok team. M Edwards 1400 M Johnson 3050 Mick J as expected took the early lead, leaving Mike to chase the game, though he tried valiantly to claw the points back Mike was no match for the experience of Mick. A Goacher 810 S Holden 3470 Steve took control early on giving Alice a massive task, however, she continues to improve and was unfortunate not to have ended the game with a lot more points. A great win, be it ugly, for the home team. As ever the Blue ship provided encouragement and were great sportsman . Evening ended with the usual sub rolls and nibbles.

Three Compasses 2 Springbok Club 3 J Duncton 0 G Marshall 4910 Gazza started with 2K followed by another. Jay just could not get going and attempted the 200 shot with the last ball to up his average but BP C Tudor 1600 M Edwards 1480 A very even game with the lead swinging from one to another Mike was just in front as the bar dropped, but Carl kept his nerve to clear the few remaining balls to take the point. J Erriera 2240 B Hicks 2060 Bill missed the break and Jacob stepped in to push ahead. The Table got clogged with balls and getting the break back was a challenge. Bill kept at it and took the lead, only for the young one to claim his first league point at the end, plus he did not knock a peg down for the first time either!! A Scotcher 860 T Goacher 2700 I got the break first time, missed it the second! Andy had his chance but left the balls up allowing me in. No big scores, just a steady pace to get my first point in ages. D Cross 1310 M Miles 1970 Malcolm started brightly, but Darren was no mug and soon applied pressure. Malcolm's experience started to tell and he soon pushed ahead to take his first point of the season too. A fantastic night and local derby. It was great to see young Jacob play so well and deserve his win. The food was blooming marvelous courtesy of Sonia. Thanks to the Three Compasses for making us welcome.

John & Angela Thayre 2 Gary Marshall & Alice Goacher 0
No walk over, John needed the red in the 200 to claim the first game by 30 points. Shame for the young ones as they had the chance to stick the red down after the bar had dropped, but hey ho. John as expected solid, Gary no mug either. Alice played some stunning shots (Ask John, Angela and Ricky P). Good effort for first ever comp.
Good luck to the Thayre's in the semis

Roffey Club 4 Springbok SC 1 Twiggy beat Malcolm Silver Fox beat Alice Dick beat Bill Moose beat Scubafrog Mickey lost to Gary I will post scores tomorrow if no one else does.
D Howett 6600 M Miles 1980
Malcolm left up short and the Twig came in with a decent break, too much for Malcolm to catch though made a good effort
J Greensted 7800 A Goacher 610 Alice was welcomed to the table with a rendition of "Who The **** is Alice" (made me smile, not sure she was impressed) Though we knew where this game was going Alice did a decent break of over 500 before the Silver Fox hit the gas. To be fair to Jim he could of got a hell of a lot more, but as a gentleman allowed Alice some table time.
D Cable 3880 B Hicks 1570
Lost count of the number of visits Bill had before scoring, but when he did get going it was just too late. Dick was steady as ever and did enough to get the job done.
L Cable 5200 T Goacher 2040
Both the Moose and Scubafrog were slow starters and each had their chances with the Moose putting in a decent 3k near the end to steal the game. I had my chances as ever and blew them. A case of the frog being stamped on by the Moose.
M Phairs 1010 G Marshall 5750
Young Gazza started well but did give Micky his chance, but totally out of character he left up short. Gazza continued to apply the pressure and as much as Mick tried to get the balls back it was not happening.
Another fine night in the heady suburb of Roffey, great fun, decent beer and fantastic turkey and ham pie and gravy to top it off

Springbok SC 1 Stout House Z 4
M Edwards 760 J Miller 2540 A steady game from Junkie, even though he could not find the break. Mike kept on his tail and is improving each week.
B Hicks 1720 A Finn 3970 Dorsal sussed the split straight away and built a good lead. Bill had his opportunities but left the balls up short.
T Goacher 1210 V Sparkes 4850 Vernon also in charge from the off, finding the break, I had several opportunities but could not sort out my own table!!!!
G Marshall 5330 R Plaw 2080 Rick had his chances, but Gary's confidence continues to grow and on his own table is becoming quite formidable. A great game to watch.
M Miles 1310 Richard 3340 Again Richard started well to push ahead. Malcolm playing his first game for over a year, still had some nice touches and with more practice will soon be back in the swing.
As ever a fun night with our friends from the Stout House, we even had Dorsal smiling owing to the beer we serve. Talks to himself now mind!!! must be his age.

Southwater SC 4 Springbok Club 1
T. Darkins 2350 M . Edwards 1190 A fairly even game throughout, with Tom coming in at the end with a decent break to win. Mike was never out of it and was unlucky.
K. Newman 2150 B. Hicks 1560 This was a game that Bill felt he should have won, but made too many errors. Keith was steady and made few mistakes to claim the point.
M. Blake 1700 T. Goacher 2640 Another well matched game with Melvin not quite getting the rub of the green. I was fortunate to put in two modest breaks near the end to get the point.
T. Franks 7340 G. Marshall 2160 This game looked like it was going to be a good one, and so it proved for Tony. Gary left up short to let Tony in and then he kicked in with a 3K break. Gary had chances but never took them and that is suicide against such a seasoned player who hit another decent break to put it out of the young ones reach.
T. Temple 2810 A. Goacher 240 Alice went into the game knowing that Tony would play a fair game and initially started brightly. However, leaving the balls up nicely for Tony is never a good idea and he duly took control. Alice kept at it and was unlucky to find the wood one a few occasions, though dad paid the fines!!!!
A great night, lovely sandwiches and sausage rolls.
Merry Christmas to one and all and see you in the New Year.

Springbok Club 2 Limeburners 3
In order of play
M Edwards 1050 M Davies 2700
Mark started brightly and looked like he was going to but a big score in, but then left up short. Mike chipped away, but kept finding the wood! Mark stayed in control to make it 1 - 0 to the Burners
G Marshall B Hammond
Bill left the first split short letting Gaz in with a 1K break. Bill came back at him, but was finding the split a little indifferent and Gaz piled on another grand to steal the point.
A Goacher 620 B Goodchild 2350
Brian started well putting decent points on the board. Alice was struggling a bit and blamed her dad for being in the room!!!! Brian kept the pressure on to claim the game.
T Goacher 2740 R Dewdney 2080
Rick flew out of the blocks but was unlucky to peg out a decent score. I managed to put a grand up, but as expected Rick came straight back. I game that either player could have one, but perhaps I managed the quirks a little better on this occasion.
B Hicks 1970 C Sawyer 3860
Chip got the measure of the break early on and recorded a decent break. Bill as ever was solid and nibbled away some of the points. Chip's experience was the winning factor in this game, working the table well to claim the result for his team.
A really great night, decent grub supported by Bills onions, which are working twice as hard now!!!

Springbok Club 1 Alfold Club 4
B Hicks 2030 D Slater 1160 A slow start from both players kept for an even game. Dave was a little unlucky, whilst Bill found his form near the end to take the point.
M Edwards 1410 C Greening 1640 Another evenly matched game with neither player getting a foothold. Minor was unlucky not to put together a decent break, but did nudge in front. Mike did not give up and was coming back at the Minor as the bar dropped.
G Jarrett 1350 M Greening 1360 Again another well matched game with neither player getting in a position to take advantage. The Major was however in front for the duration and Graham nearly snuck in needing to leave one ball up for the 100, only to see both the remaining balls fall.
T Goacher 1220 R Burgess 4050 Robin took control early and though I won the break back several times I missed the split every time. Robin does not take prisoners and rightly so put me to the sword.
G Marshall 2260 G Fishburn 2390 By far the best game of the night, with Garry F taking an early lead. Young Gazza was again in fine form and continued to nibble away and stayed well in touch. As the bar dropped young Gazza was at the table and with the final ball left only 30 behind, the 100 beckoned!!! Nope for the first time on our table he missed and Garry came in to claim an empathic result for his team.
A great local derby, no rivalry, just banter. We all know it could have been so easily a reversed result and we will focus on the positives.

Three Bees 3 Springbok Club 2
N Tomsett 880 G Marshall 3380 Nigel started steady with Gaz taking never looking like he was ever going to get going. He then hit a purple patch and stayed in control as the bar dropped.
D Tomsett 2350 B Hicks 1280 Bill did not find the break letting Dave in to push in front, there were plenty of opportunities for both players to put the game to bed, but it was Dave who stayed in control for the point.
S Eely 4680 G Jarrett 300 Again a slow start from Graham let Steve take an early lead. Graham had chances and was catching until the dreaded BP late in the game finished off his chances.
L Lennon 1400 T Goacher 2570 To say Lynn was extremely unfortunate or out of sorts is an understatement, I messed up early letting Lynn in, but it just did not go her way and I managed to get over the line in front.
M Lennon 2130 A Goacher 690 Alice struggled with the break and Mike took advantage, though she played some wonderful shots again her inexperience let her down and Mike pushed a head to seal the win for the 3 Bees.
A great evening as ever, we were made very welcome and the sarnies were wonderful. Thanks to all for the laughs, encouragement and banter.

Springbok Club 2 White Hart 3
M. Edwards 2590 D. Sands 1410
Dave could not find the break allowing Mike in who managed a modest break to nose in front. As much as Dave tried with some great shots he was unable to get he break back, and Mike continued in a steady fashion to take the point.
G. Marshall 7410 P. Barnett 2590 This was a close game regardless of the score line, it was just that young Gary got more table time. Barney's early mistake let Gary in who put together a few 1K breaks followed with a game winning 3K+. Barney also had a decent break and with no doubt had he had more time could have reversed this result.
(G Marshall 3010 break)
T. Goacher 720 C. Barrow 2950 Simply I blew it, Sparrow let me in early and I cocked up. Sparrow remained steady whilst I floundered.
G. Jarrett 1420 J. Thayre 4360 A case of the master and his apprentice. John as ever was solid, but Graham did not let himself down, both played well, but experience shone through in this game.
B. Hicks 1740 H. Fowler 3200 The match clincher!! Hugh started well on the break putting a decent score up. Bill came back at him and was unlucky not to get more from the game. Hugh played a very level headed game to stay in control, but all could have been different had Bill not lost nearly 2K.
Are we gutted, not on your Nelly. To get 2 points from such a solid team shows how far we have come. As ever the White Hart lads were great with their encouragement and we had a fair few laughs. Yes there was a few beads of sweat on their brows for a while, but hey they have seen it all before.

Springbok Club 1 Dun Horse 4
Alice 130 Dave 1630
Both Alice and Dave struggled a little and with frustration Alice took out the BP to add to several whites!!
Gary 1700 Scott 1890
A close game that required Scott to pot the final ball into the 100 to secure the win, after Gary had kicked out of the same pocket the shot before to concede the game.
Trevor 1040 Colin 3040
I started brightly before losing steam, Colin built up a few decent breaks to take a deserved win.
Bill 1680 Grant 1490
Another close game that saw both players jumping ahead, Scott nosed in front at the end, but Bill hit a match winning break with the final balls to take the point.
Graham 630 Stuart 1970
Graham struggled, as many of us did on the night, Stuart played a steady game to keep in front for the point.
A great evening, though we found the table a bit of a challenge, Thanks to Stella for the food.

Mick Johnson 5490 Trevor Goacher 2130 No trouble with the break, other than I found it 4 times. Mick took full advantage posting 2K, followed by 3K. I eventually got the balls back and tried my best, but time was a factor. Ding should've shown you how to make the cue ball stay out...!?!?! She was giving nothing away mate, playing her better half

Blue Ship 5 Springbok Club 0
James Child 2140 Graham Jarrett 1110 Graham started slowly and James took advantage, both players scored and lost along the way, but James just had the edge.
Steve Holden 4100 Bill Hicks 2600 A nice even game this until Steve posted a decent score to nose in front. Bill found the break a challenge but amassed points from some very decent play.
Simon Bailey 2730 Alice Goacher 1370 What can I say? Alice was simply superb tonight, played some stunning shots and took the lead for quite a while. Simon needed a decent break at the end to claim the point, but boy he did sweat.
Mick Johnson 5490 Trevor Goacher 2130 No trouble with the break, other than I found it 4 times. Mick took full advantage posting 2K, followed by 3K. I eventually got the balls back and tried my best, but time was a factor.
Ding Johnson 3170 Gary Marshall 2540 A close game with Gary taking the early lead. Ding's experience was there to be seen and she held her nerve to put a break together to take the final point.
No complaints, the table played very well, great food from Simon, and a great social night all round. Thnaks

Dun Horse 4 Springbok 1 Stuart Hope 3690 Ken Nixon 1280 Grant Hope 2120 Graham Jarratt 1320 Scott Hope 1550 Gary Marshall 2270 Colin Bolton 2520 Trevor Goacher 1700 Dave Simmons 1790 Mike Edwards 560 Well as Dunplaying arrived late I will do a brief report. Game 1 Stuart always in control, with Ken struggling a little to get to grips with the break. Game 2. A more evenly matched affair, but Graham again struggled to master the break, costing him the game. Game 3. Both Scott and Gary were evenly matched, Gary unlucky not to take an early lead, but came in with a match winning break at the end. Game 4. I found the break, put a decent score together only to lose it when missing a ball at the bottom end. Colin was taking no prisoners and though I tried, 3 visits and losing your score does not help. Game 5. Again Mike could not suss the break, and Dave stuck his nose in front and stayed there to claim the game. Not Dave's best performance by his own admission, let him explain that split shot!!!!

Add my congratulations to the Springbok Club, who finally get the monkey of their back with their first-ever match win, having come agonizingly close several times. Also a great result for the Dun Horse team over League champions Roffey, some great scores suggesting it was no fluke. Likewise the 'mighty A's' from the Stout taking two points off the Z's - the first points they have conceded in three matches. Great week all round. Thanks Tommo, been a long time coming

Springbok Club 3 Three Compasses 2 Trevor Goacher 2420 Carl Tudor BP Bill Hicks 2630 Ian Mansfield 1000 Graham Jarrett 1710 Lewis Tudor 1430 Ken Nixon 1510 Jacob Ereira 1830 Gary Marshall BP Jason Duncton 2040 Game 1 Carl missed the break and I put together a reasonably break. Table then got cluttered with balls and neither could get break back. Carl went for 200 hole with last ball to BP Game 2 Again a missed break from Ian let Bill in, who remained in control. Game 3 A very close affair with Lewis out of the blocks, Graham played a steady game to keep his nose just in front. Both played some great shots, and Lewis clearly will be a player for the future. Game 4 Jacob's first ever game!! but youth on his side meant he was not phased by the game. Ken took an early lead and was only beaten when Jacob smashed the red of the back cushion at 100 miles an hour only for it to cleanly sink down the 200 hole and with time running out it was victory to the young un Game 5 Another close affair with the lead going from one to the other, Gary BP with last ball needing the 200 to snatch the game. Well that's it then Springbok's first ever win in the league reckon there are some teams out there relieved it was not them at our mercy Great local derby, plenty of beer and banter, the result was fair, but the Three Compasses are no mugs, so watch out.

ROFFEY CLUB 4 THREE COMPASSES 1 No scores to hand but Roffey not at full strength! Three Compasses really looking forward to beating Springbok Club :-) Well already they are a point ahead in the league We are looking forward to allowing them the grace of a win to ensure they stay in the league all season, unlike us not sure they have the backbone for losses each week

As JT states all games finished. Last nights affair went to the mighty Stout House A.
JT 3600 Bill Hicks 1670 A game where JT got going early and Bill struggled, with JT firmly in front Bill did put together a decent break near the end, but beaten by the bar.
Pete Hartley 2640 Graham Jarrett 1080 A slow start for both players, but Pete mastered the break earlier than Graham, who was finding the kick back from the back cush a challenge. As much he tried Graham was not able to close the gap on Pete allowing the second point in favour of the A's
Peter Twigwell 760 Gary Marshall 3600 Gary had control of this game throughout, though Peter was closing in on him with a decent break when he BP. With this happening at the later stage of the game Peter was never going to get the points back and Gary strolled in for the point.
JT & Pete H 1970 Gary M & Alice Goacher 1180 The result does not reflect the game with JT struggling a complete opposite to his singles. Gary and Alice took the lead and stayed there until the closing stages of the game, when JT strung together a match winning break as the bar dropped. Alice played valiantly and had she not lost several hundred points along the way the result would have been far different.
Sam Short & Tony Clasby 2250 Graham J & Scubafrog 1450 Sam showed why she was women's singles champion with a great show, Tony also did his part to ensure 4 points to the A's. Poor Graham had to endure me playing under par, but he raised his game in the pairs and should reflect on that and not his singles.
A great night as ever with the A's, a big thank you to Southwater Club (Tony) for arranging a plate of sarnies and sausage rolls.

Railway 5 Springbok SC 0
M Cork 3400 B Hicks 1110
A fairly even match until near the end when Mike put together a break of 2K to leave too much for Bill to do.
A Kuzimski 5610 K Nixon 970
A couple of high breaks from Skippy did the damage here, Ken just could not get going.
M Clack 5120 A Goacher 270
Clacky in control all the way, though Alice played some fine shots worthy of any seasoned player.
N Worsfold 5870 G Jarrett 1240
A couple of 2K breaks from Nigel knocked the stuffing out of Graham, who was play well himself.
M Davies 3570 T Goacher 1600
Mark was never at any risk from me, I just could not get the break back and if I had would have missed it anyway ::)
A great night as ever at the Railway, with the lads in buoyant mood. Well done to them, they sit second at the moment and a well deserved position.
Chili Con Carni and Rice as well as the usual sarnies and savories, we were well spoilt.
