Sure you will Champs and like a good wine, you will get better as the years pass by. One day your time will come - as you are still much younger than us old gits ! I agree Champs is a good player, but for a bit of bad luck in his opening break I would have been under a lot more pressure.

Sorry Bob I arrived a little late and I missed the start of the game. Also I wrote this with a cider head on this morning. Congratulations. If I remember rightly last time you won this you were also the Channel Island Champion that year. In jersey I think Each time I've been Island Champ I've also nicked the Channel Island both in Guernsey, hopefully I'll have the hat trick.

Finals night 14/04/15 Bob Chapple beats Ian Champion in the Final held at the fontaine. After Ian was unable to keep his small opening break the writing was on the wall as Bob managed to get the break back and put in a healthy lead with his break to come. Bob dually did enough on his break to put pressure on Ian who after several attempts to get the break back conceded. Bob had been a tad fortunate to get through to the final after scraping a win against Luke. Bob had put in a good score in his opening break and when at around 10k he missed the object ball and all scores were level. The game was very scrappy and very little in the scores with Luke break to come. With the final on Luke home table all expected the him to take the victory. He was unable to capatilise before Bob put in a late break to give the game some respectively. Slight correction to Oge excellent post, I won the toss and put Luke in first, Luke was off the table a lot earlier than I thought he would be, I got the break back and decided that when I reached 10k to tap up unfortunately a little short of my target I missed a ball between the 200 and 100. After dropping a further 10k plus in a couple of breaks I finally managed to keep a break of approx 5k to secure the match. Luke had chances but fortunately for me he was unable to manage his home table.

Apart from the results it was an enjoyable weekend. The question is, will this be the venue for all future Internationals? It seems that we had a positive impact on the numbers? Will this negatively impact on the numbers for the Sussex open? Are there any other comps during the year that could also host the event? Would there be any benefits to changing it? I suggest that some thought is put into this pretty quickly and maybe we can discuss further prior to our open in May. I think that an earlier decision than this year is required. As the final decision to move this to Bournemouth was made pretty late, some of the Guernsey players were unable to attend. Thanks Darren Hi Darren I find the comment above about making an early decision a bit strange. I had initial discussions about Bournemouth 2015 at the Guernsey open 2014. I followed this up with a txt message at the beginning of July confirming my plans for Bournemouth this year. I recieved a reply back in August last year to say it had been discussed at a committee meeting and that everyone was happy. I also spoke to Tom in Jersey 2014. I'm not sure how much notice you need but as far as I'm concerned the decision to use Bournemouth this year to host the international was made in plenty of time and was communicated to the Guernsey committee. Curt Hi, Just for the record: When I attended the off the spot, a couple of England players asked about the International being held in Bournemouth, I replied that I wasn't aware of the change of venue as no one in Guernsey had mentioned it. When I returned to Guernsey I spoke to a committee member and suggested that all potential Island player get together and agree on the venue either Bournemouth or Sussex. I mentioned several times over the following months about getting together to decide on the preferred venue and asked if a decision had been made, each time I was ignored and not informed if the venue had been decided on. On the first Monday of December a committee member phone me to ask if I was going to Bournemouth for the international, this was the first time that the venue had been confirmed, unfortunately by then it was to late for me to go to Bournemouth as other arrangements had been made for the weekend.

Guernsey has the following rule
44 Players committing the following fouls will lose both registered and unregistered scores: (a) Knocking over the black skittle. (b) Deliberately missing the object ball.
If in the opinion of the marker a player deliberately misses a ball they loss the game.
Maybe the AEBBA would benefit by looking a something similar to stop "professional fouls ".

Hi Jell, The legs are easy to take off a Riley, just two screws per leg.
I haven't measured my B&W but I think the body will be too big.
The other option is to have a go at building a table.

Hi Jell, If you're able check out a Riley table ( my favorite make), just squeezed into the back of my shed and even though it was a bit tight I got the following measurements:
Body, 760mm wide, 1610 long, 255 deep, the tray can not be removed and adds 13mm to the length.
Top, 930 wide, 1800 long, 10 deep.
If you decide on a Riley double check my measurements first.
Regards, Bob

Unfortunately the committee left it too late (first week of December) before letting me know that they had decided that the international would be in Bournemouth and not Sussex as such I have committed to other things for March. I'd suggested to a committee member back in July and again in November in Jersey that all potential team players get together and decide if Bournemouth or Sussex was the preferred venue, this never happened. Sadly this will be the first international I've missed

Hi, Just a quicky on this one. First off the game stays as it is with no rule changes except all shots are off the spot and the second player has the balls back on their first visit , basically the same as Jersey in the single games.
Now the interesting part, a shot clock is used (similar to chess, Tommo will know about these) where each player has a maximum of three minutes at each visit, with a minimum of three visits to the table per player, in other words a 18 minute game.
How does this work I hear you say, well after a toss of the coin or throw of the dice the winner can pick either to go first or second. The marker will start the three minute clock (as at the start of each players visit) and player A will start the game as normal, when player A ends their visit as per the standard rules or at three minutes the balls are returned to the tray and player B starts their maximum of three minutes, as the balls will not be returned at the end of their turn they will tap up trying to leave a awkward ball or two for player A. If a player takes their shot just as the three minute bell rings then the ball/s are left to run but the player will not receive any score if a ball drops down a pocket, however if a peg is knock over the player will lose their score as per the normal rules, if a player takes a shot after their three minutes they will lose their break score.
That’s my lot for now, back to watching the snooker.

I was looking forward to the Grand Prix but after spending over £1,500 and using 6 days holidays so far this year I could not afford another £500+ and another day off work. Wearing a waistcoat and bow tie would not be a problem as I think it adds to the event, but if some drop out because of this rule then that's their right and should not be slated for it.

So if say this was possible to bring opens all over the UK and the demand for our game grows could the aebba raise more money for this and buy up some tables and rent out to intrested party's as this is our biggest problem table availability is low people always say yes sounds good but how do we get a table? Could this work? It would be good if something like this could happen, and the game start to grow. With regards to tables, the way the game is going (dying) in Guernsey there could be at least 16 tables available. I have two (three if you count the one I build) the league has at least 12 plus a there are a couple others privately owned. Well that's my Sunday morning moan out the way. See you in November. Bob

Hopefully two players can be found, it would be a shame to loose these three good players from the league.
It may be time for the powers that be to take note and look at some of the proposals put to them in the past notably changing the league to three a side.
