OK Ladies and Gentlemen, we have some details from Jersey ;D The Hotel/Venue is the Sarum hotel in New Saint Johns Rd, St Helier JE2 3LD Telephone number is 01534 758163 The prices are for room only (although you can book English bkfast for £7 extra) as the hotel does a lot of self catering. As the hotel is quite close to the town, there are a lot of eating places nearby. Single £36 Double/Twin £50 When booking, ask for Monica British Airways from Gatwick are by far the cheapest £77.23 return The two final places for the England side will be filled by Lorin Clough and Geoff Jukes, congrats to both of them. Have just rung the hotel and booked.... was informed that the prices should be £37 per night for a single room and £8 for the English breakfast. ::) G.S.T. exempt eggs and bacon available in sunny Guernsey 8-) 8-) 8-)

Thanks for the link for Tantivy Paul. Does anybody have any specific timings for travelling out and back. Is everybody going on Friday or Saturday, and presumably returning Sunday afternoon?

I'm out on Blue Island arriving at 1020hrs on Friday and meeting with BBW for a knock-about.
It would make sense to know where people intend going so that we get a fair spread of tables.
Sav.

You can also get the regular bus service from the airport to the old Inn on the Park (nearest stop). It would only be a 5 minute walk to the hotel from there

Unfortunately we have had another withdrawal from the England team, Leon has work commitments that cannot be turned down :( On the brighter side, Pete Sainsbury is able to step in at late notice, thanks Pete.

I would like to wish the England team the best of luck when they take on Jersey in the International tomorrow night and if it's as close as it was two years ago in Jersey then they can look forward to a tense and great match with hopefully the same result!
England Kevin Tunstall (capt) Paul Sainsbury Nigel Senior Dave Ingram Jim Greensted Chris Saville Gerry Fitzjohn Simon Coleman Lorin Clough Geoff Jukes Pete Sainsbury
....and a special good luck to those five six players making their full International debuts against Jersey.
Edit; I make it five six now !!

Strange not to see a single Oxfordshire player there, but......
GOOD LUCK to the England boys, and especially to the debutants Foxy, Fitz, Triplex and Elsie! 8-) ......and to Pete S who I am informed has only been selected before against the 'other' isle. :D ......and to BB Warrior for his first 'proper' go versus Jersey (he played the 'reserve' game before) .......and to Sav and Jukesey, back in the team. Good luck to everyone, in fact ! :D

He did well winning 6 out of 8 points and if my memory serves me right he carried his brother in the pairs match that they won 4-1! ;) www.aebba.org.uk/internationals/EnglandGuernseyRecords.htmPS Steven will not be happy with me for putting this link up as it's the only time that he's not been impressive out of all his International matches.

A great result on their soil, with some new faces. It would be great to see the same team take on Guernsey assuming they are all available.

Keith ??? Sorry, but I disagree with both of you :o Pick a fresh 11 players so they too can "live the dream" of playing for their country ;D OR consider what I have suggested in previous posts and find a way of amalgamating Internationals, and selecting an England B team to play in a four-team format tournament.

As for the match against Guernsey at Home in June, I will need to speak to the selectors as to whether we stick to the original squad or play the team that travelled out to Jersey :-/ Personally, I have made my decision :) Since we've been playing Guernsey in Internationals it has always been decided and read out at the AGM that the first nine players chosen to play against Jersey will then be the team to represent England against Guernsey and then the tenth player to make up the pairs, so I don't see why this should change this year just because players decided not to go to Jersey. (whether we like their reasons or not!) Milko (I have made my decision :))

I have nothing to do with the mens Bar Billiards or the Ladies come to that... but I will put my view, as I would.
Regardless of rankings I firmly believe that those that travel away and give of their time, monies and family, should have the right to play at home in any event this year. This is not a cheap event and taking a whole holistic view re those that attend arround many attributes of life, why shouldn't they.
Just a view.

Hi all
As one of the players originally selected but unable to go to Jersey I would like to add my opinion.
For me it's really simple......why should I be dropped from the national team to play Guernsey in june because I couldn't afford to pay for the trip to Jersey ?
This can't be right. If I'm dropped from the team it should be about my ability on the billiards table and not my ability to fork out £250+.
Selectors......I urge you to think about this one before committing yourselves .
For me......I attend all of the opens and try my best to get myself in a position to get selected for the national side. I can only do so much and the trip to jersey every 2 yrs in the current climate is just one to many for my finances to stretch to.
Please do not hold this against me.
Curt

Don't worry Curt. If Carlos Tevez can get back in the Man City team, I am sure you will play for England again.
