Well, the transfer window is still open and millions have yet to be chucked around between the big boys. Will Arsene put his hand in his pocket, will Spurs hang on to Bale and will Rooney go to Chelsea ? Sir Alex will be a hard act for Moyes to follow, but Chelsea fans must be be pleased with the return of the prodigal SpecialOne.
BT's new Sports channel and The Sun's new iViewer platform will add to the hype. Fasten your seatbelts !

I think Chelsea should be strong favourites for this season, with Jose returning and a management reshuffle amongst the big boys! What they should do is buy a striker, they have as much talent as anyone in their midfield and a solid defence. City have spent the money but they spent 90 million on players outside of England alongside a new manager, they shouldnt expect instant success. Moyes has all the talent in the world as a manager but United didnt have a good pre season, theyve not bought anyone and Rooney is an ever present saga.
As for the Gooners, Wenger must be more pro active this summer. I understand that we could buy Luiz Gustavo from Bayern but you never know. They should give up on Suarez, the amount of time spent over him could of been spent buying three other players! If we dont sign any new guys soon, we can say goodbye to the top four if Bale stays at Spurs!

Meanwhile, down in the basement, Wimbledon look forward to playing Pompey home and away. Who would have thought that as recently as 2008 with Pompey winning the FA Cup and Wimbledon in the Ryman league (Step 3 in the non-league pyramid) ? One recent news report that saddened me was about the recent fall from grace of Coventry City. They start bottom of League One with a 10-point deduction for going into administration. But worse - after a row over the rent, they have quit their Ricoh Arena stadium to groundshare with Northampton Town, 35 miles away ! In a fans protest, only 1,000 City fans went to watch their side at Sixfields, but around 10,000 turned up for a "Legends" match at the Ricoh ! A pity as their emigree heroes beat Bristol City in a nine-goal thriller in Northampton's deserted stadium ! Classic quote from a Coventry fan : "You used to get sent to Coventry when people were going to shun you: now instead they send you to Northampton !"

Premiership first day highlights........
Sad start for Arsenal, great one for Man Yoo, though Rooney looks now to be a pariah.
Double point blank save from Liverpool's new goalie in 89th minute to secure victory.
Norwich have a new striker - Ricky van Wolf's W!nkle - who really looks the business !

Highly depressing start to the new term for the Arsenal! Really outlined that theyve spent no money, in my view the fans have a valid point of booing at the end because im just as frustrated!

Ever read the book "Fever Pitch" by Nick Hornby ? It documents the ups and downs of being an Arsenal supporter - but it was written 20 years ago ! Covered is Arsenal's greatest moment since winning the Double in 1971 - the stunning 2-0 away win at Liverpool (26 May 1989) which clinched the League Championship against all odds.......the Daily Mirror's back page headline earlier that day had said "You haven't got a prayer, Arsenal !" The sight of George Graham leaving Anfield clutching the League Championship trophy will forever stick in my mind, and AFAIC it's been downhill ever since. Alright, I'm only joking, there's been this too:

Lots of players who were thought to be signed have decided not to sign for the Arsenal. Looks like it is going to be a few players bought in on deadline day. Like last year.

Although saying that, Michu looks a possibility along with Ashley Williams, fingers crossed! With only 8 outfield players fit the champions league match will be interesting. Arsenal have been linked with Ajax striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson which would be a great buy. The offer for Yohan Cabaye has been rejected. But rated 18 year old Isaac Hayden may go on the bench for the weekend's game at Fulham. Looks like a supermarket frenzy on deadline day!

Carraghee has annoyed me over the Cabaye bid, going on about panic buying and how if he was that big a target, more would of been done, it doesnt take a genius to work out that Suarez, Gustavo and Higuain were the big targets, subsequently failing in their pursuit, then having to go to the next best option. I dare say a bit of defacation stirring by Carra!

Just read something that sums up Arsenals tramsfer policy, going for David Villa in January, gets to summer, Barca slap 2.3 million euro price tag on him, basically giving him away, but as is predictable, no chance of Arsenal following that through! Villa now at Atletico!

Moyes makes a derisory bid for two stars from his former club Everton. Arsene is left with a big headache - European qualification gives him further millions to spend......he gains some respite with a good away win at Fulham with the players he's got. Chelsea steal a foreign star from under Tottenham's noses - Mourinho looks smug and is highly amused that Tottenham had already given the player a medical. Meanwhile Bale says he's played his last game for Spurs. ..........but enough of the side of the game where money is King. Just returned from a magnificent "game of two halves" - oh the agony and the ecstasy of supporting a team in the lower divisions...... First half was just about the worst I've seen Wimbledon play in 30 years. There was no spark and Scunthorpe were all over us like a rash: We went in 2-nil down at half time (two goalkeeping errors), and Charlie Sheringham (son of Teddy) had missed a penalty for us - which we hadn't deserved anyway as it was given for what looked like accidental handball to me. In the second half we came out fighting - apart from the goal-hanging Sheringham (not a patch on his father !) and eventually pulled one back. Charlie was immediately subbed and we set about them further and drew level with a fantastic shot from Harry Pell which nearly burst the net ! With about five minutes to go, our hearts sank as we thought they'd scored the winner - but it was ruled offside. But another substitution saw us with two nifty wingers banging in the crosses and we began to rip apart a team which in the first half had looked a classy side. Then - the ecstasy ! We got our winner right at the end and cue the crowd erupting in wild celebrations. To say that I am a little hoarse at the moment would be an understatement!

What are we on about with this crisis talk at Arsenal! ;) Fulham is a horrible team to play away against and we got a fantastic result there today, with Newcastle dropping points today it seems Cabaye signing may be an inevitability! The next week is looking interesting in terms of finance!
Gutted to hear that tommo, sounds like a fantastic day out though which in the grand scheme of things is what matters! Looking forward to viewing some live sport myself next week at the T20 with aussie! Should be mental.
Liverpool and Palace picked up good wins today but my old mate Chris Plant's team Sunderland threw their result away at Southanpton!

I am still on cloud nine as Cardiff City beat the mighty Man City. The boys played extremely well considering who they were playing. Come on the Bluebirds!

Man City fans looking for a good weekend away?
Madrid? Maybe. Monaco? Maybe.
But you can't beat Cardiff in August

Just seen Chelsea have signed Willian from Anzhi for 25.3 million! If he gets going in that midfield he could be an essential cog! Although i think they ought to sign a striker to stand them in better said, they have enough midfielders!
Still nothing from Arsenal with just 5 days left :(

So am I looking forward to the prospect. I just cannot understand why the European bodies decided to have an international week straight after the window closes.

Probably Platini being typically French and trying to screw England over, or is that me just being bigoted? ;)

I see that Everton managed to sign Barry just before the transfer window closed.....pity they were too late to sign the other Chuckle Brother. Earlier in the day Newcastle's Joe Kinnear had sealed deals for three new players in a transfer frenzy - then got bored with playing Championship Manager and turned off his computer !
