Start times now added. Had a bit of a problem with not many "local" ties, so thanks to the people I have spoken to who have agreed to have earlier starts than normally expected, much appreciated. and finally, just for Keith - Final expected to start at 7pm Although i suppose it doesn't matter as this is played on the Saturday?

Apologies, am going to have to withdraw from the event. I have a family party to attend and a round trip to Oxford will be too much on the day.

Many congratulations to Dave Ingram on his first Open win at Didcot today beating Ian Lelliott in the final.
Paul Sainsbury took the plate with Damian Coates runner-up.
Well done to Mark T on a very well run day and most of the tables were lovely with some very big scores - I'm sure MT will flesh out the details later

Well done dave a strong Performance all day also well done to ian on his first 20k break having to come from 19k down. Colin was unlucky not to make the final but dave was too strong and nice to see phil collins still playing nice and slow with a 24k break.

Yes well done to Colin on his semi final, and Ian ( you do not need 20k to win a game) Lelliott on just that achievement.

Well done Mark for a well run day, one of the best opens I have been to! Tables were lovely just a shame I couldn't find any form. Massive up for Damian Coates representing Northants reaching yet another plate final ;) Congratulations to David and Paul for their wins!

Thank you everybody for your kind words, I think that it actually sunk in that I had won when I went to make the tea this morning and saw the trophy sitting on the window sill in the kitchen! My thanks to Mark and everybody involved in organising and running the day, the Didcot Club for hosting the event and making us all feel so welcome and Dave Alder for making a special round trip to provide the tables to enable the competition to go ahead, especially as the weather on Friday probably didn't make that a very enjoyable journey! With regards to the competition itself, I thought that the tables played superbly and there were so many high scores and big breaks all through the day, the obvious highlight was Phil's 24k break in the first round with Paul replying with 21k+, a great game to watch and Paul very deservedly then went on to win the Plate, I don't think he missed all day and would probably have beaten anyone else but Phil in that first game. A big well done to Colin Southouse and Gerry Fitzjohn for reaching the semi-finals, also to Ian Lelliott who managed his first ever 20k break to chase down Richard Wooton's 19k+ target, as always Ian was as sporting when he won that game as he was when he lost the final.... a true gentleman, great team mate and a very tough opponent.

Well done to BBW winning yesterday, it was on the Tarrot if not tipsers cards, and of course I was elated to be in the mix at the end , thanks to the unseeded draw format which gives others a chance, Well done Lelly getting through the "group of death" regs cs
