congratulations to the winners of the over 50s and 60s
as far as the under 25s go i speculated this to dave alder last year about the age rising and the number of youth he wouldn't get because of this but the basic reception i got or it felt like was a basic i don't care not interested. to me this is a shame as i always enjoyed this competition and had a great laugh with those who entered its a real shame nothing was sorted quicker even making it under 27s would introduce a couple names back or allowing people to enter while there 25 would add a couple more names back into the list

However you can't just change the rules (in this case the age restriction) for this comp willy nilly. It needs to go through an AGM.....if the AGM vote for it to become an under 27's or under 30's or whatever then thats ok, but until then it is an under 25's

Under 25's is not actually included in the AEBBA competition rules as last published.
It is referred to in the age qualification criteria but has never been formally included in the list of AEBBA competitions (oops!).
Thus it could be argued that there is nothing stopping AEBBA extending the age range this year.
Rule 3 needs a proposal to update it with the other comps (off spot / alt rules / U twentysomethings / ladies GP / Special Ladies / etc,) or simplify it by just qualifying the age related.

As you rightly say Chris, the age qualification is clearly shown in the following AEBBA Rule... 52) In A.E.B.B.A. age related competitions, the player has to be under that age on the day of the competition, e.g.: under 25’s, and that age or over on the day, e.g.: over 50’s & over 60’s. I am therefore puzzled as to why you think AEBBA should ignore that rule and extend the age range this year, when clearly a rule can only be changed at the AGM?

Fairly obviously because, as I pointed out, it is not mentioned in rule 3 the list of competitions that AEBBA will run, whereas the over 50's and over 60's are. Thus there is arguably no rule to ignore!
The obvious groundswell of opinion is to increase the age limit, so why delay?
