Watermill A 4 Sportsman 1
Chris Nikolaj 1540 - 1160 Sir Trevor Trevor 4 timed the break, Chris replied with 600 and the game then turned into a battle at the top of the table with neither able to get the break back. 1-0 :(
Norman Cragg 4510 - 1300 Lady Ros Norman struggled to get the break early on and came off at only 800, Ros couldn't get settled and Norman managed to get the balls back and put in a 2.7k break to seal the game. 2-0 :(
Kim Stenning 5560 - 1010 Tony Driver Tony pegged his opening break allowing Kim to step in with a break of 1k then a further 2.5k. Tony got the balls back to make 800, Kim then finished the game with another 2k. 3-0 :(
John Staplehurst 4510 - 1260 DA-DM John left the one up short, Colleen got about 500 before John built a nice 2.5k break then a further 1k. Colleen kept battling and got the balls back..... just as the bar went! 4-0 :-/ :'(
John Willis 1420 - 7350 BB Warrior My score built around 3 medium sized breaks, but left feeling that I didn't really do justice to a table that I could have scored a lot more on...... 4-1 ::) ;D
Well played the Watermill A, who were the better team on the night. ;)

League Champs struggle but eventually land Fish
Handcross Z 3, Laughing Fish 2
B. Timson 1330, A. Brooks 1740 G. Daniels 4120, R.Carpenter 3230 Johnny 'aceed' Haigh 3120, C.Ashford 2020 MrMike 'Birthday Boy'007 3200, Henry 'Ponytailed Guy II' 5570 tommo 3260, J.Ashford 2810
Under-estimate these guys at your peril. The Fish put up a really good fight on a Handcross table which was absolutely flat as a pancake. Tommo put the level over it before the start of the match, there was a very slight deviation to the right hand 20 hole but he thought it best not to touch it. But it turned out to be hard work.
A heavily disguised H (thought it was Adam Bateup when he entered the pub) played exceptionally well to take the fourth leg off the birthday boy who had made the early running, H clearing the table at will. His team mates played valiantly and without fear.
The Zeds have now kickstarted their season with a first win, but are not yet at full throttle. :-/

It took some time to adapt to, but once you figure out its quirks, it does what you want, and that makes it a very enjoyable top to play on!

So...... flat as a pancake..... but with a slight deviation...... :o ??? That sounds like a PANCAKE ROLL to me!! ;D ;D ;D Yes, well homed in on. ::) I didn't explain that very well at all did I ? I let H do a roll up of the balls at the start of the match and the only hole that a ball didn't drop cleanly into was the RH20. I offered to give the right hand leg a tweak but H agreed with me that it might put it out elsewhere. We found last year the the H/X table doesn't play well when it's completely flat - as the back cushion is dead as a dodo (ie it has no bounce in it). Last season I had it set a shade uphill, as recommended to me many years ago by none other than Rod Tarratt himself !

Good fun again playing for the Hurst A
Don't worry I feel ok and am up watching "50 greatest TV comebacks" on Sky 3 with Christopher Biggins...
10- Dirty Den 9 - I forgotten 8- Bruce Forsyth 7 - Bobby Ewing 6 - Spice Girls ..,,
Anyway, the Greyhound was a tricky table and Sandra certainly did well to make a 3k break and end up with nearly a 5k score. I struggled to start with but got to grips with the table in the end to make 8k. Trevor played a good game for the home side to make over 6k.

Greyhound 2 Hurst A 3
Well done hurst. Sandra took advantage of Neils uncharacteristic four down blunder with a nice 3k break, then Neil pegged a clearance later on to give her a second break opportunity which she used very well
Many thanks to our late sub captain pugwash who was only asked to play at 7:45 and had to come from Godalming, maybe will will call him out of retirement again as he won.
A very pleasant evening with the visitors good company.
The Greyhound started slowly last year and were in with a shout on the last match, hopefully we will win some in the near future, still 27 matches to go.

St Francis got beat 5-0 by The Plough. Mat Geal was our only unlucky player, spilling a break after the bar, which cost him the game. Peter Geal gets his second new hip on Friday, so hopefully will be back before xmas. I caught a 9lb Barbel from the Sussex Ouse yesterday. I know that has nothing to do with Bar Bills, just wanted to tell someone. Shaun

Shaun If you see this and have a chance to talk to Peter, please wish him all the best for Friday :) Congrats on the fish, 9lb must have put up quite a fight! Not a good effort from the Sportsman this week :'( I think it's worth saying that the Watermill table was beautifully level and playing well - well done to Norman. 8-) The short summary of BBW's report on our team's 'broken' performance: Trevor had too much of the break, I never got a go at the break, Tony pegged his break, Colleen got the break back too late, BBW never made as much on his breaks as he thought he should ::) However, at least BBW has the golden W by his name to spare us from the brush!

Ponytail guy is actually 9 years OLDER than you... if the forum is to be believed Ha ha ha ha oh no he's not!!!!!! ;) ;) ;) Sorry for the late match result. :-/ Anyway!!! ;D The Brewers Finally get to grips with their own top, well kind of!!!!Brewers Droops 5 White Horse 0 :o :o :o Sir 'thats more like it' Jock 5710 Ian 'keep missing the balls' Powell 790With no Andy Farmer this week it was up to the stand in captain to lead off, with Ian breaking and managing to miss the first of the six he managed to miss, I nipped in with a match killing 4k. 1-0 ;D :'( Colin 'he's struggling' Humphrey 2140 Colin 'i know i am' Mansfield 1150Not a pretty match to watch in the battle of the two cols, with messer humphrey only knocking up 900 on his opening break, the stage was set for messer Mansfield to take the day, but several uncharacteristic mistakes let the noddster nick the tie. 2-0 ;D ;D :'( Lorraine 'leave the 100 alone' Hall 3700 Will 'no chance' Shaw 110Mama Hall up in the third against a new face for me in young Will, and unfortunately his inexperience showed, with mama hall giving him chances galore to score, twice pegging decent breaks, she should have easily scored more than my 5k. 3-0 ;D ;D ;D :'( With Brian Coleman a no show, giving Fred 'thank you Brian' Jones the walk over, although we did play the last match in front of this one just to give Brian every chance to make it, see what nice people we are! 4-0 ;D ;D ;D ;D Richard 'feelin better' Shepherd 4030 Trevor 'whats goin on' Howes 2680Nice to see messer Howes playing again, and was up to him to stop the white horse white wash, but alas the mighty sheriff put in a spanking performance, trevor twice got the break back but left both balls hanging on the second shot, and sheriff took full advantage. 5-0 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :'( A great evening was I hope had by all, ::) I certainly enjoyed the near constant abuse from the dugouts. :P Mike and Wendy with the usual decent spread, ;) to which I had to scavenge from the oppo ??? as our usual trough monsters were augmented by a few wags. :P :P Table played pretty well, much improved from last season. ;D :P And then Mike informed me that its booked in for re-covering. ::) ??? Sad to hear that the White Horse is up for sale again or has been sold again, but the chaps were pretty optimistic about the future, best of luck lads. ;D ;D ;D ;D
