Yep, if you don't want it, you can ask for a refund on your subscription, or not send your 2007 subs.

For those of you too tight to buy the BBQ, I've jst updated the OFFICIAL AEBBA site with the UNOFFICIAL rankings.
Its a big file and I've lost my Microshyte HTML cleaner since rebuilding my PC.

I'd just like to point out that all of the copying and putting into envelopes was done in my own time (lunch time and after hours), and yes I am very busy at work!!

..............and I hope everyone appreciates it! I know I do, and if it was not happening, I am sure the last-ever BBQ would be issued just after Christmas.

I will take the intrepid step of asking for your comments here!

Morning Peter,
A very dangerous question in the written word!!!
Re your stated fragility, and the possible future of the BBQ.
As stated previously, I have the utmost respect at your dedication. I am obviously one of the people you have crossed swords with on here. If however I feel you've gone too far with your self professed 'Warped sense of humour' I will not desist from giving it back.
Re rankings;
Yes a big move in the right direction. Removing most of the averages bonuses in the team comps is correct. I say that having topped the averages at the NBBA Pub Team and getting 15 RP for winning three games.
I still feel that ranking points should go further down in the opens. They still favour the top echelon who will regularly make the last 16 in opens. They do not reflect the performances of the lower ranked players who battle amongst themsleves and rarely make the last 16 unless they have a lucky draw.
Your old friend and international pairs partner
Chris :-* :-*

Ignoring what the Colemanator just said - he's given BBQ63 a 'cool' reception but is cool about most things ::)- I would like to echo what Sav said.
My copy arrived today and it is really well put together considering the short space of time between this and the previous issue. It is actually worth wallpapering your loo with, Colemanator, rather than tieing it on a piece of string. ;)
My first reaction is that I am totally gobsmacked with the revised points system - Pete you appear to have gone out of your way to placate your detractors and now have a tick in every box except one. The reforms go much further than you promised/indicated. :o
It almost seems unfair to mention the one blemish remaining, which is exactly the same one to which Sav has referred - that Opens could do with having points awarded for at least one more round of the 'Main'.
Perhaps as many as half the players entering Opens wouldn't aspire to making it to the last 16, but these are the very people making the effort to travel a long way to take part and they should be encouraged at all costs. The dangled carrot of a ranking point guaranteed to them if they can get through a couple of rounds seems perfectly reasonable in the circumstances.
That really is the only remaining gripe - everything else to me at any rate seems perfectly hunky-dory. Thank you for listening to all our 'bleatings' for most of the last year, and for your great efforts in reaching a compromise. :) :) :)

Clive, I have often asked Ian what it is like to live on his planet. I think he has joined and left the BBQ family more times than anyone else "baa-none".
He says he does not like the stats, just the reports. I give him plenty to read and he wipes his posterior on them. Expensive bum paper, if you ask me, and not very comfortable.
Note to Paul Sainsbury: please use the softer variety for Ian's No.64, the production of which has already started.
"One point" about Clive's little gripe (but not a "ranking" point, apart from something that sounds similar in Ian's case): there are fewer and fewer entries in some of the Opens these days, less than 64 in some.
So I decided to maintain the rule of having to win at least ONE match (if somebody had reached the last 32 without playing) and usually at least TWO.
I know I could have built in that stipulation, (or had a slight change for smaller entry lists), but decided that this was going far enough towards a compromise.
Now, you will have realised that, the ranking points allocation will be exactly the same (on the whole) as the Grand Prix points allocation. This will make it easier to understand in my opinion, and stop SOME people getting mixed up between the two.
Eh Glenn, Eh Lew?

Thanks Pete, another great read. Only thing i have noticed, which may have only been in my issue (?) is that the rankings for all players outside the top 100 (for subscribers only) don't seem to have any points for the current year ??? a mistake maybe ? Its just that the points people have do not match with their ranking. Apart from that, excellent work again. ps. >:( Who says my jokes are bad ;)???????????????? ;D

Wow, oh no!
Embarrassed or what!
It seems that the subscribers ranking list from page 10 and 11 of the new BBQ was somehow corrupted from my original spreadsheet when it was pasted into the main document.
Some columns are correct (2004 and 2005), bit it seems as though the 2006 figures from hidden columns have been excluded in the total points column. So positions are correct, but not the totals.
Another possible candidate to take over the BBQ?
I will have some corrected sheets available tomorrow at the Alternative Rules, or will email direct to any subscriber who has given me their address.
Sorry, sorry and sorry once again.
Thank you, thank you and thank you again to Mark. I will always laugh at your jokes from now on, or am I going a bit too far now!

Don't beat yourself up too much, Pete. No-one's completely infallible.
You got the order right and that's the main thing. How you got there is only of secondary importance. ::)
It's all up on the AEBBA official website anyway, and looks good and all seems to make sense.

Yeah, but now Mary Daniels has pointed out that the same has happened in the Ladies list. I should OF given up.....
That reminds me to say that I am glad to see Johnny is getting a sense of humour at last.

Please list all my other errors below and I will have a look at them IF I survive my suicide attempt.
Three and counting.........
1. Subscribers list from 101 down omitted points gained in 2006 2. Ladies Subscribers list ditto 3. Paul Lawson was named as the third man in the Team Championship final whereas it should have been Gary Johnson, although it seems as if the score was correctly added into the averages calculation, so it WAS just a typographical error on my part.
A new page 10+11 is available to anyone requesting it, e-mail or hard copy.

You're officially ranked 164th, Q, with 3.2 RPs. Which is 3.2 more than John Slee, Peter Gibbs or Micky Fairs have earned. ;) Can't be bad, eh ? ;D

Had a read tonight, I thought it was a bit much to put the "ranting" first! It did put me off a bit, then I got to my favourite part with the rankings and reviews. Very well put together. Delightful even!
I am only making a suggestion Pete, you should put the "ranting" at the back so it is "optional" for people to read.
The reviews and rankings are why people subscribe!
Very good though. Well Done.

Had a read tonight, I thought it was a bit much to put the "ranting" first! It did put me off a bit, then I got to my favourite part with the rankings and reviews. The reviews and rankings are why people subscribe! With my “very serious” hat on (it has pink and yellow bobbles on, by the way, in honour of Mr Blobby BTW): I have recently made a “hard and fast” rule to myself to avoid responding to comments about the BBQ from people who cannot be bothered to subscribe, and just prefer to take a sneaky peak at somebody else’s copy, but I WILL break that rule in your case Little John(ny), and make the following comments myself: 1. I have warned you that you would not like it. But, I can understand why you were tempted. 2. Do you know the "principle of the supermarket" where they put the essentials at the back of the store so that you have to walk past the things that THEY want you to buy to get to the things YOU want to buy? 3. Do you know the basic principle of "turning pages"? It would be like creeping in the back door of that supermarket to avoid the expensive stuff, but you should try it if you just want that bag of sugar to sweeten your tea. 4. The changes to the ranking system have been explained in an “editorial feature” if you like. When have you ever seen an editorial at the back of anything? Except possibly a kids’ comic. But if you want a comic, pop round to your newsagent. If you want to know what is happening in the bar billiards world you can either (a) follow the Forum, or (b) experience “a funny thing happening on the way to the forum” in the BBQ. Or, better still, here’s an idea: try BOTH. 5. I am not sure how you know “why people subscribe”. I have been doing it for 16 years now, and I (sure as hell) don’t know why. But, in conclusion to this rant, thanks for the “well done”. It is the nicest thing you have ever said about me, well since you said last week that I was “the funniest person on this forum” anyway. Or, is this your wit again?
