Please use this thread for any results or reports from the main NBBA Cup competition. First result of the season from Round One... Wallingford D 3 Wallingford A 7The A team won 3-2 at the Marlborough Club with good scores for Bert Lovegrove (11440) and Phil Collins (17570) including an early high break of 15700. In the second leg the A team again won by 4-1 at Didcot Tory Club with top scores by Colin Martin (10200) and an excellent 14620 break from Frank Cox for the away team. I think he may have run the table out as opponent Leon Beer scored zero! :o Wallingford A go through to play either Eynsham A or Witney B. cheers Tony www.interareabarbilliards.co.uk/

Round One of the Inter Area NBBA Cup High Wycombe B 4 Reading A 6Good home 4-1 win by Wycombe at the Beech Tree but they were unable to take a point at Caversham, losing 5-0 and failing to clinch the victory. Well done to Reading A who go through to play either Eynsham B or High Wycombe A in Round Two. cheers Tony www.interareabarbilliards.co.uk/

Round One of the NBBA Cup
Eynsham B 0 High Wycombe 10
High Wycombe A travelled to the Red Lion at Cassington and came away with a creditable and workmanlike 5-0 win. Andy Godden top-scored with 8890.
Eynsham B conceded the second leg :( so Wycombe go through to play Reading A in Round Two.
All results from Feb/March now received - well done everyone....
cheers Tony

Round Two of the NBBA Cup 1st leg at the Lamb & Flag
Witney A 1 Wallingford B 4
Disastrous start for us at home. I won the first against Pete Lee but then we then seemed unable to take our chances and crashed to a rare home defeat ???. Pete Welch played very well in the second to go off with a winning 10kish break against Jon Bamsey. Hey-ho - look forward to the return at Wallingford and a minor miracle!
cheers Tony

Wallingford B 1 Witney A 4
at Berinsfield SC
Overall Wallingford B 5 (49,930) Witney A 5 (48,510)Well we took them very close after a disaster at home! I took the first against an out-of-form Maxi and Jon Bamsey took the next aginst Pete Welch with a couple of 5-6K breaks. Terry Cook and Martin Atkins had a very close game with Martin chasing well but breaking down with a few balls left to allow Terry to clean up and take it for Witney 6170-5640 and put us 3-0 up. Pete Burton and Roger Bowen then had a very nervy fourth game with Roger just prevailing to leave Witney 5-4 and just under 7000 up overall. Unfortunately Bil Keenan left the one-up short on his first attempt to allow Simon Ellam to make a very steady but immaculate break of over 8k to take the game on aggregate for Wallingford B. A disappointing end for Witney after a terrific fightback :( Many congratulations to Simon and to Wallingford and the best of luck in the next round against the winners of Oxford A or Wallingford C Maxi MacDonnell 950 Tony Willis 7390 Pete Welch 210 Jon Bamsey 11380 Martin Atkins 5640 Terry Cook 6170 Pete Burton 1900 Roger Bowen 2510 Simon Ellam 9160 Bill Keenan 780
cheers Tony

Great result for Oxford B. What a comback! In fairness that was a great result for the Oxford B, as the team (northants B) arrived we knew that getting the leg was important. We will repay the favour next time ;) Well Done Oxford B 8-)

It's not really my place to say but I think we (Northants A, that is) overcame Reading C 4-1 in the return leg at Rushden Con Club. This means an aggregate 8-2 win for the Northants team. I'm sure the captain or someone will fill you all in wi scores etc. but I just wanted to let you all know that the game had been played.
I'll go back in my box now!

Wallingford A v Eynsham A
The first leg was played at Didcot con club and the home team got off to a flying start with Leon Beer playing the table out with 17,480. The second game of the evening saw Mark Turner beat Sean Stratford who after knocking over that wretched black peg didn't have time left to get much back. Next came Dennis Atkins against Geoff Powell, who got to grips with the table early on. Tony Martin saw off Ian Moss and bringing up the rear was Joe O'Farrell who lost to Mick Jones.
Scores for the night: Wallingford A 3 - Eynsham A 2
Leon Beer 17,480 v Bob Allsworth 0 Mark Turner 9,920 v Sean Stratford 500 Dennis Atkins 4,220 v Geoff Powell 8,610 Tony Martin 9,490 v Ian Moss 520 Joe O'Farrell 3,860 v Mick Jones 10,460
The second leg saw the boys meet up again at Red Lion, Cassington and Geoff got off to a flying start beating Joe. Ian once again played Tony, which saw Tony lose a score of 4,500 half way through the game & left Ian frustrated. Phil Collins was next who played Mick Jones in what looked like being a good game, Mick got the break back and was on a roll only to have a whipper. Sean beat Leon in what was Sean's best game ever on this table, putting the scores on the night at 2 - 2. This left Bob Allsworth to not only play for a home win but also to chase down an aggregate score of approx 15,000 (no pressure Bob !!) Mark Turner went in with just over 1,000 then Bob got to the table and played a break of 9,300 Mark got back to the table but was unlucky allowing Bob back on to win.
Scores for the night: Eynsham A 3 - Wallingford A 2
Geoff Powell 13,820 v Joe O'Farrell 210 Ian Moss 560 v Tony Martin 2,130 Mick Jones 2,780 v Phil Collins 13,950 Sean Stratford 10,440 v Leon Beer 410 Bob Allsworth 12,000 v Mark Turner 1,970
Wallingford A win on aggregate scores by 3,900
Good luck to the Wallingford lads in the next round
