Nice idea, Ian. Would be interesting to compare their rules of play with ours. I'm sure you guys would be interested to know if they have any really well-maintained championship-standard tables too and where they are. 8-) (Link added to a website of one of the teams playing in the Wellingborough League): www.crownandanchor-wellingborough.co.uk/barbilliards.htm

How about you boyz trying to encourage more of them onto the forum by allowing them some threads in the Northants section first (where they can hide in the volume you generate ;D) then we can see that it wouldn't be embarrassing for one person to have an almost empty section to himself :-[ afterwards we could move the threads into a new '4 pin section' 8-), meanwhile any General Discussion or Chit Chat posts can be posted as normal :) This is only my view :-*

The Wboro 4 pin league did have its own website a few years ago. Alas I think it has gone somewhere into hyperspace now. There is a short paragraph on the league on this page

Yes welcome Pete the Plumber, sorry for tarring you with the brush of a distinguished member earlier. The game needs you and you could be a boon to Northants who sound like they need new teams to keep it all going. The 4-pin game has been discussed before at great length, and here's the appropriate thread : barbilliards.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=Tournaments&action=display&thread=1159187960&page=3It must be a strange feeling being a rare and endangered species, and for us equally - it's as if we have discovered a lost tribe halfway up the Amazon. ;)

Wellingborough although they call themselves "Wellingborough and district" appear to be disapearing "OH BLESS" ;D. The Loco although not in a league at moment are looking to get a three pin table for the new season also i hear that the Kingfisher is interested in 3 pin. The Ranelagh Arms is considering surgery to have a pin removed from their table as they currently play 4 pin depending on the outcome of a proposal at the AGM nx month. So with only 9 teams in the WDBBL, 5 pubs 1 of which is due to close soon if it dont get a buyer an 1 pub with 2 teams thinking of a convertion another that dont want to go to away games Wellingborough is gonna end up with only 2 venues and 4 teams. :( Look out Northants we may be comming to get ya once we discover what to do with our spare pin any suggestions ? Keep it clean there may be children present ha ha ! ;)

Hello Pete,
Its not good news to hear of the demise of your leagues, but its great to hear the interest in converting to the 3 pin league. I had heard that the Loco already have a three pin table, but not been in there to check it out yet. Unfortunately, its not just as simple as removing a pin to enter the 3 pin league as the tables are actually different in size. I am not too sure how this would stand in the rules.
Now would be the best time to come across to the other side if you wanted to, as we will soon be starting our Summer league which is great to blood new talent. Its a handicaped system, so its a fairer game. if anyone is interested, I can get some entry forms to you.
Let us know.
Cheers

Should be able to do any lunchtime this week, or alternatively after work on Thursday or Friday.
Also Pete, if you need someone there from our side to be present at your AGM then just let us know. We will be happy to help.

I am very pleased to say that the Locomotive Pub in Wellingborough now have a three pin table installed in their pub. Jase, Pete and I visited the pub, and have provisionally set up the table. Steve the landlord is very keen, and hopefully the Loco will have a team in this years summer league.
The committee will discuss at the next meeting about setting up a competition at the new venue.
Welcome to you all.

wellingborough Northants seems to be playing a totaly differant game to rest of the world. I,ve seen tables all over the country even abroad and although i used to play many many years ago on tables the same as you guy,s , Wellingborough has four mushrooms standing directly in front of the two 50s the 100 an the 200. So wat am i playing as much the same as you guys nobody seems to know the official rules if indeed there are any.

Where are you based PTP ? The Wboro league is rumoured to be no more, i used to be in touch with a guy from Irthlingboro who ran a website for the '4 pin league'
BTW it's Barbilliards, but not as we know it. We tried to get them to switch to '3 pin' but they didn't want to know, as this would've strengthened Northants by about 10 teams, 5 ish venues, What other county has two different versions of this game ? None I suspect.
