Agreed, thank you to Ozzie senior for organizing finals night. I must say even though I was not playing I thought it was a good evening. Well done gandalf on winning the open singles and unlucky Roy Harmer who was runner up.
Well done SandyH and Roy Harmer on winning the doubles for the third time I think.
Well done to Lee Brock who played a mammoth three finals and won two of them (lower averages and handicap) last night in which everyone of them went to three frames.

He could have had the t-shirt many times if they were given for every time he'd done that in the past. He was the first player I ever saw get a 20k break. I remember seeing him score 22k first time and then a few weeks later 24k. I think that was in only my 3rd season as a player. Up til then i'd barely seen a break above 10k. They were both scored at the manor in Hastings. That table used to be a quick table (quickest in Hastings at that time) which has since been recovered when it went in the nags head many years later. Now a much slower table unfortunately but can still be a high scoring top.

More like last minute super sub. Great to see Sean back. I only hope it wasn't a one off. I just wonder if he made that score in one break or not. Knowing Sean it would be. I really hope sandy can convince him to play on a more regular basis.

Not my place to say so really as I don't play in your league but I think reverting to a singles league would probably discourage me from playing. My reason would be that one of the main reasons I play is for the social aspect and without the teams that goes.

Great job getting it all done so quick, only small thing which I'm sure will be rectified ASAP is when clicking on the league section it isn't showing the correct teams. In some cases some teams names have been duplicated and others wiped, although the league shown on the main homepage looks correct.
Sorry Sandy if you have already noticed but not had time to sort it. Just thought I'd mention it in case.

Looking at the scores at the Ash, I'm hoping that the Osbourne's continue that form in this Sundays interleague match. Hopefully the rest of us can follow suit.
Also well done to both Ozzie's on producing very consistent high scores of late.
Wish I had some decent form going into Sundays match.

I cant remember exactly where the cracks are. I believe from what one of my team mates said it is broken into about three pieces. I think one crack goes to a fifty hole and the other to a twenty hole cant remember the other. They are quite long cracks as well. If someone has tried to repair it then they may not have done a very good job or made the best of a completely nackard table. Im not experienced in this kind of table maintenance at all, therefore cant really give the info required. I'll possibly take another look next wednesday when we have a game there.

Hi all,
here is the result card from 21/10/2012 at the nags head:
Hastings Vs Redhill
Dave White 1650:4200 Jason Wadsworth Phil Osbourne 4880:4690 Geoff Jukes Roy Harmer 3220:6060 Gary Powell Mike Daw 4600:5210 Dave Jones Sandy Harmer 830: 11720 Terry Oakley Denis Cole 2320:8730 Cliff Wayland Bob Osbourne 1080:9030 Tony Cross
A good night played in good spirits. Once again our Hastings teams erratic form continued and Redhill took full advantage with some good quality and consistent play.
A deserved victory for Redhill.

Not quite so sure on that one for me. to get a good home break on my home table will require some real concentration.its not the easiest. let's just say the balls don't always go where you hit them. then when you think you have it sussed your proved very wrong.:-/

This is really good. Just out of interest which bits are still under construction?
It would be interesting if we increased the history section to include past winners/runners up from leagues and competitions way back. Thats if you could get the archives from Bob and if most of them are intact. Even past averages could be an idea if they are still in the archives. It would be an interesting comparison to today's averages which I suspect will be a bit lower.

I voted other.
My original reason for playing in opens was to test myself against the best. I had been playing in the Hastings league for many years and no one had spoken about county opens or competed in them from my league for many years. So I thought why not find out when one close to me is and have a go. I really enjoyed it but didn't go back for a few years.
Now I go to try and improve my game and be the best I can be.

By the way, good to hear from you ray. Really good to hear your team definitely want to stay in the league as so many new teams pull out after the first season.

Hopefully next month. Shouldn't be any later than mid way through the month. I haven't received any fixtures yet as I don't think we've had all the teams for next season confirmed.

Hi all. The Oddfellows arms has closed. The good news is that The Royal Albert, 293 Battle road, St.leonards-on-sea,TN37 7AP have bought the table. I went in this afternoon and had a quick chat with the landlord about getting a team in. Also I had a quick game on it and I must say the landlord hasn't done a bad job levelling the table. Bit slow but with an iron could be good.

Thank you for the round of applause. It did come as a bit of a suprise to me. Again echoing the others in saying it was an enjoyable night in a nice venue as well. Looking forward to the return leg.

Agreed, if I gained a load of ranking points for winning the under 30's and made the masters only because of that I would feel like I did not get there on merit . If I got there I would want to do it the same way everyone else did and with the same opportunities as others.

results from 8/8/2012,
Nags B vs Plough A
T.Gates 4470:790 F.Pope D.Cole 3260:1760 A.Pope G.Smith 3880:1450 J.Pope
off the spot
D.Cole 100 B/P: 1920 A.Pope M.Daw 5600:1900 J.Pope
Nags B win 4:1
Really enjoyable night with the Popes, look forward to playing you all again in the winter. Also good to see three generations all playing in the same team, grandfather, father and son.
Jack Pope looks a good prospect and seems to know many of the shots already, despite only playing his sixth competitive match tonight. Hopefully he will continue playing and maybe Colin Southouse can convince him to play in next years Sussex under 30's.

Thank you to everyone for the positive comments. It was certainly an unexpected outcome for everyone but one I will enjoy for a long time. There are some very good players in this competition that I'm sure will be back next year better than ever. Also i'd like to thank everyone who made it happen. I think most people who took part enjoyed the day and hope the competition carries on for a long time.

Hi Ray, im sure the OKJ would welcome you as a second team. Good to hear you want to stay in the league even if it means moving to a different venue. My team has just formed the new B team at the Nags head as the old courthouse closed.
