Hi all, here are the match results from Hastings vs Medway 29/04/2012.
Roy Harmer 7160:1340 G Gooodwin Phil Osbourne 5090:1530 Curt Driver Mike Daw 8280:1570 Nick Wren Bob Osbourne 6250:5500 Dave May Denis Cole 2830:2040 Gary Speller Sandy Harmer 5100:3140 Gerry Fitzjohn Dave White 3350:2570 Russ Milford
Hastings 7:0 Medway
The scores do not reflect how close a match this was, with both Curt Driver and Gary Speller losing scores when in potentially winning positions. There were also a few more games that could have gone either way.
Only break above 5K that was held last night was a break of 5210 by myself (Mike Daw). Curt lost a 6k break and I also lost another break of just over 5K. lol.
Overall an enjoyable night with a good crowd and look forward to the return fixture later in the year.

Well done Roy harmer after beating me 2.1 last night to progress to the final of the open.
Roy played very consistently knocking in some good breaks at the right time in the match to leave me stranded trying to chase down his score before the bar went in both legs 1 and 3.
A deserved victory.

Well done lads, we are div 3 champions. We have had many close games that could have gone either way but we made it. Looking forward to div 2 next season. Hopefully we will fair better than Eastbourne.

Cheers Dave, hopefully next year we can get a few more of us there as we only had Bob Osbourne make it this year. I'll have to check the sussex website more often and hopefully I'll see the info there.

I was only told about the Sussex singles and doubles about a week before the event and that was because Gandalf (Colin) and a few of his team mates were asking if we were available to play, unfortunately I was working that weekend but had I known earlier I would have booked the day off. In our Hastings league we had no idea when the competition was, as not many of us are on the forum. Saying that we probably wouldn't have many entries maybe 3-4 of us.
In terms of the under 25/30's sounds like a good idea but again it is an issue for many about travel. Cost of travel is also expensive even with economical cars and if I were to play away matches in places like Billingshirst, Horsham and Chichester, thats a long journey to the other side of the county for a couple of games and then go home. That would be about 3 hours travelling time both ways from Hastings. A one day tournament would be easier in that respect. Although I would only qualify for under 30's as i'm currently 26.
With interleague your there for an evening with your team so its seven matches your staying for and usually the driving can be shared around a bit. Plus they are set dates so you know when they are and maybe plan for them if required.

Hastings win 4:3 against Mid Sussex B. A very tight match. Hastings 3:2 down with games 6&7 to play, Sandy Harmer (SandyH) and Phil Osbourne (Ozzie) both held their nerve to win the final two games to give us the win. Unlucky Mid Sussex B, but thanks for a good evening and some good competition.

Hastings vs Billingshurst
Sandy Harmer * 2,260:2,940 Mick Johnson Mike Daw 6,740:6,650 Chip Sawyer * Roy Harmer 7,760:220 Steve Eely * Dave White * 10,080:1,560 Ding Johnson Phil Osbourne 7,920:2,820 Steve Holden * Denis Cole 1,110:5,810 Barry Dumbrill * Tony Gates * 2,950:5,410 Tony Temple
Hastings win 4:3
Another tight match overall with our fourth 4:3 win of the interleague season our other win being a freak 7:0 win against mid sussex B. I'm sure mid sussex B will be looking for revenge this sunday at their place.

Hi, this is the match result from 15/2/2012
Anchor vs Courthouse B Colin Manson 2000:1230 Phil Lambourne Phil Roberts 370:1470 Denis Cole Ray Norton 0:5570 Mike Daw Moira Daines 280:1970 Nick Speight Andrew Lipscombe 1470:3200 Tony Gates
Courthouse B win 4:1
A nice evening with those from the Anchor with some good banter. Enjoyed the Pizza, sausage and chips as well. An interesting table that was playing very uphill on the night with a few odd drifts. I was the first to manage to get the break off playing in the fourth game of the night as they were played slightly out of sequence. It needed a bit of a whack with a ton of left hand side to make it. Tony also managed this feat in game five. I did attempt to Help Andy level the table after but my taxi arrived before we could fine tune. Break was definately much easier and one up also. It will stil be tricky though unless it is fine tuned.

Its always been the way in Hastings. We're used to it and at the end of the day its pot luck who you play and whether you get the break. Bob now has the high break. I'm just wondering which away tops I'm going to play on that may allow for a 11k+ break.

singles open result:
Mike Daw 2:1 Bob Osbourne
A bit of a roller coaster match which could have gone either way. Bob thrashed me in the first leg after I'd failed from the break off. Bob then had the break in the second leg and miss cued very early on to gift me the break off, again I failed to capitilise. Eventually I got the break back and battled away to give myself a decent enough lead to win the leg. The final leg saw myself and Bob struggling to make the most of our opportunities and eventually I was lucky enough to be ahead when the bar finally dropped. Must say I'm very relieved to have won this match given the opportunities Bob had, as normally he would have punished me for the amount of mistakes I made.

Also while I'm here, my entry for the Oxfordshire open is now in and it would be good if maybe a few more from our league could join myself, Ozzie and Ozzie Snr on saturday 18th feb.

Hi there, here are the match results from 18/01/2012,
Ron Young 2720:2450 Phil Lambourne Sandi Harmer 6020:3290 Denis Cole Roy Harmer 3650:9100 Mike Daw Chris Sexton 7280:850 Nick Speight Mick Osbourne 5270:5160 Tony Gates

well done Ash B, a well deserved victory. Well done to Chris Sexton, that was the best I've ever seen him play and I hope he continues his form. Also game 5 came down to the last ball in what was a very close game and a good game to watch. In game 3 I scored the highest away break of the season with 8470 beating my previous score of 8320. Also 3000 breaks for Roy Harmer, Sandi Harmer and Chris Sexton.

Lewes V Hastings
Jan Bithell 3140 : 1210 Tony Gates Colleen Park 1330 : 1030 Roy Harmer Richard Todd 360 : 6570 Mike Daw Dave Knight 3870 : 3330 Phil Osbourne Chase Newman 1430 : 2060 Sandy Harmer Kevin Stoner 2110 : 2530 Dave White Rick Bithell 2180 : 1410 Denis Cole
Lewes 4 : 3 Hastings
Well done Lewes. This was a close game with games 2 and 4 coming down to the last ball. Roy missed the 200 which would have tied the scores and phil needed the 200 with the red to win but unfortunately for us missed. The table seemed a bit unpredictable and just seemed to randomly drift right, then the next shot would be dead straight!!! Also the pockets were very ringy and looked like they needed a clean which accounted for many points for both sides being lost last night.
Overall a nice evening with the Lewes team and look forward to the return sometime next year.

HI RECKLESSRAT great to see some more Hastings posters, just to say a big welcome to all new players in any league, remember we all started as you have, and its always daunting playing who you think is a better player from time to time, but all you have to do is play and learn the table better than your opponent and also remember no one wins or loses forever. Its always worth watching and learning how other players play the various shots and then practice them as often as you can. You probably know this already, so won't preach anymore good luck regs cs Again I'd like to echo what Colin has said. We love having new teams in the league as it brings a better atmosphere as we see different faces each week rather than the same people. Also it brings hope that we can still have something worth calling a league. A few years ago we were really struggling for teams and were nearly down to just four teams. I remember first starting and there were so many players better than myself. I was lucky that I was able to practice at that time with players like my dad and John Luck at The Bull Inn (when it had a table). We usually had a pretty good table which enabled me to play good shots and get the proper rewards, i.e balls not constantly ringing out of holes after playing a good shot. I learnt a lot by just watching them playing eachother and then trying to play shots I had seen them play when playing against my brother who was also learning at the time. Practice really is the key.

An interesting suggestion, but how would we implement it? Would we do it for the whole league or just for new entrants or those who have played less than two seasons. Players or teams?

Another win for Hastings last night at the Ashburnham with the result being Hastings 4:3 Brighton C. A tight match against Brighton C in the end after we were 3:1 up at one stage, Brighton C clawed back to 3:3 leaving a decider. Dave White played an excellent 8,000 break in the final game to win us the match. Roy Harmer also had a very good 8,000 break in game 4, with those being the two highest breaks of the night on what was not the easiest top last night.
Hopefully Ozzie may post the scores on here at some point.

Hi there, here are the match results from 07/12/2011: Courthouse B vs OKJ Gary Lynch 1,090 : 2,720 Andy Eldridge Nick Speight 1,610 : 4,080 Chris Lamb Phil Lambourne 1,850 : 5,880 Nigel Doe Denis Cole 7,660 : 510 Gary Tomlin Mike Daw 8,610 : 4,710 Graham Dean
OKJ win 3:2
Well done to the OKJ, a deserved win. The table was a bit more difficult this evening as the table had a slight left hand drift. Although over the evening the table did seem to improve as we did have some good breaks, the highlight being Denis cole's 6,030. There were also two other breaks of over 3K for Graham Dean with 4,710 and myself with a 4,000.

Indeed I saw that you had just topped my score. Also adding 2 3000 breaks to your tally for the season. Yes next time I see Nick I'll attempt to let him know your keen on getting your match sorted. Although it may not make too much difference knowing Nick. lol.
