Just to confuse things further maybe just for this season we could have the 6th placed teams in div 1&2 relegated as normal and then the 5th placed teams play a playoff with the first placed team in division below to decide who goes up or down. That way a team that goes up or stays up should have a chance of holding their own in that division. Obviously that is only if we adopt a 5 team per division approach next season. Just thought this was a better idea than no promotion at all.

Nags head 2:3 royal Albert
The match went to a final game decider which Royal Albert new boy Dave Pearce got the all important win to give us a winning start to the season. Dave did a great job keeping his head in a high pressure game, well done to him showing why he was voted the league's most improved player last season.

Good point. When I spoke with Tony at the masters I think I remember him saying they were coming to us and I reminded him that we were definitely at the ash this year after I messed up last season.
Not sure if Phil realises this or if they have agreed to swap it?

Well done to mid Sussex a on promotion to div 1. Also well done littlehampton on your victory last night to get the runners up spot. It's been a fun season and enjoyable season . The division being so close going into the final series of games showing just how competitive it was. Looking forward to next season now and playing a local derby against Eastbourne. Now we are just waiting to see who else will join us in div 2 from div 1?

Well done to all the Hastings lads last night. Especially the three who stood in for all us regulars who are on holiday like myself. 5:2 is a great result. Good to see Sean still knocking in the high scores with only his second game all season including local league games. Well done Mick Osbourne also with a good score. Unlucky Andy Eldridge who looks like he had a close game on debut for Hastings this season. Not sure if Andy played interleague before we came back last season.

Indeed sandy has done a great job with the web site. It has been updated so efficiently and has made it so easy to follow and know what could occur with each win or loss. Other years we have been playing we have only seen maybe four league tables over the season. But that had been down to teams not getting the score cards in consistently on time. With the web site there it appears to have given people more incentive to get the results in. Either that or sandy hounds them til he gets the info he needs. Lol.

Well done to the Ashburnham A on winning the league last night. A deserved win last night from what I saw of the games before I went. Dave definitely deserved to beat me last night making much more of his opportunities than I did. Phil also looked like he was playing well when i left.
Again congratulations on winning the title.

Wow, looks like there were a lot of 5:0 results this week and a 4:1 according to the web site. Can't remember the last time I have seen such one sided set of results.

Result card 30/01/2013
Royal Albert vs Nags Head B
Denis Cole 1730:730 Dave Pearce Tony Gates 2060:600 Sean Keyes Nick Speight 1690:500 Lisa Woodall Phil Lambourne 1540:0 Glenn Davis Mike Daw 2120:760 Ray Roberts
Royal Albert win 5:0
On what was the worst the Royal Albert table (even by this tables standards) that I have played so far this season, all players struggled for any kind of consistency with the table having an awful right hand drift all over the table tonight.
I felt sorry for the opposition for having to endure such torment. (At least we know it will usually be rubbish).
All in all we had a good evening with both teams taking a light hearted approach to the game.
With bit bit of leveling at the end of the night we have got the table near half playable which is as good as it gets unfortunately. Hopefully some slightly better scores will follow in the future.

Not sure how I'm in the driving seat as your the current open champ Colin. One thinks you maybe trying to take the pressure off yourself.

Hi all,
Redhill b 5:2 Hastings
An enjoyable evening with the table playing well. Plenty of chances in most games but Redhill b made the most of their opportunities in the final two games to take the win.

I would like to see the re-instatement of a Rule which was found unworkable in its given wording - at the time when changes were made to Licensing laws. (I believe it quoted a specific time of day, which was too rigid.) I propose that the following stays, and is renumbered as 2 (b): RULES FOR INTER-LEAGUE COMPETITIONS GENERAL 2. The visiting Captain may satisfy him/herself on the level of the table and to facilitate this, the balls are to be made available in the tray upon request in order that he/she may make trial shots to the top of the table. However he/she may not use side cushions, strike another ball or attempt the break shot. .....But a Rule 2 (a) be inserted, thus: "The table shall be prepared by the home team for the match, care being taken as to its level, half-hour or more before the first game is due to commence. But no further practice or 'warming-up' by players shall be allowed within this half-hour period." Reason: a matter of etiquette. I remember when I first started playing in the Hastings league we had a rule like this where no one could play on a match table 24 hours before a league or cup match was due to take place. I think that included preparing the table, apart from brushing, ironing and cleaning pockets. That rule has since been relaxed due to new players and teams coming into the league who do want a practice before a match as they need as much advantage as possible when playing people with multiple years experience. (plus the more they play the better they should become) Thats why I do not begrudge that as I want the league as competitive as possible. Most teams with experienced players in our league dont tend to play on the table just before the match any way other than for leveling purposes.
