Hi there, here are the match results from last nights match: Courthouse A vs Courthouse B Dave Stapley 1,380 : 3,800 Phil Lambourne John Wond 3,860 : 2,190 Denis Cole Lewis Wond 850 : 12,380 Mike Daw Riza Rizai 1,300 : 3,070 Nick Speight Lee Brock 3,610 : 5,050 Gary Lynch
Courthouse B win 4:1
A good evening with the A team. I would like to say well done Gary Lynch, only playing his third game in ten years came in and did a great job for us last night rolling back the years with a classic Sussex style break of 3810 to beat Lee Brock. Elsewhere we had a break of 11,210 from myself. Pitty the bar went, although the back was starting to ache. lol.

Hi Mike, Just for your information the game that you lost was the one that you did not turn up to and Roy Harmer claimed a walk over. Regards BO Thats a little harsh that counts against me, as I was never meant to be turning up that week. I should never have even been in the draw as I was working til 1am the next morning. Oh well. 8-)

Nice to see the averages, but in terms of wins and losses I don't remember losing yet in our league this season. Actually!!!!! Somethings coming back to me, maybe i did lose one but I really cant remember who it was against. lol. My memory must be degrading. The only loss I remember was in the interleague week 1.

Hi there, here are the match results from last nights match: Courthouse B vs Anchor Geoff Smith 4410 1480 Colin Manson Phil Lambourne 2370 1440 Andrew Lipscombe Denis Cole 3850 80 Moira Daines Mike Daw 3630 430 Ray Norton Nick Speight 3490 1460 Richard Fay
Unfortunately a low scoring night for all of us, for some reason we all kept losing good scores with plenty of pegs going down over the evening. The table was playing well though which is good for up and coming matches. Overall a good evening with the newest team in the league and look forward to playing them again.

Unfortunately your right not a lot round that way now. The Fountain in St.Leonards used to be in the league but have disappeared like so many pubs years ago. I cant remember the last time they had a team. I think it must have been just before I started playing in the league and that was about 10 years or more ago.

So far so good for Hastings in our first interleague for many seasons. We have won our first two matches against Billingshurst and Mid Sussex B.
1. Billingshurst 3:4 Hastings 2. Hastings 7:0 Mid Sussex B
So we've had a very close game with Billingshurst at the Limeburners which could have gone either way and a big win against Mid Sussex B, although to be fair they didn't get much luck last night on the Ashburnham top.
Looking forward to our next two matches against Brighton C and Lewes in about 6-7 weeks time.

Good stuff, I look forward to having another team in Westfield at The Plough and hope they enjoy playing in our league as much as their other leagues. Nine teams is great news for our league and great to be able to see some new faces joining the league. Do we know who's playing for The Anchor?

cheers for that. The wedding went really well and everyone had a good time. So 9-9 over two legs. That seems to suggest to me that we should play another match sometime in the not too distant future. I hope we can get another arranged at some point fairly soon and if we do, I look forward to the next game whenever it may be.

I know I can probably make the 24th but the 31st I doubt I can do as I'm getting married on the 29th. My thinking is that it'll probably be an interleague game.

Also in terms of the friendly, all we need to do is to exchange some dates between yourself and Bob and we should be good to go. Hopefully we can get it going fairly soon.

sorry I didn't realise until today that you had posted. I cant remember the scores themselves. But the result was:
Courthouse B 3:2 Ashburnham was the result.
Dave White hit the best break of the night with just over 7000 I think.

All league and non-league are correct. Not sure if The Plough will definately have a Winter league team but they are taking part in our summer league. As stated before The Fox is no longer open and table was sold. Although it is owned by a league member.
Hope that helps.

You are correct it is Geoff Smith. Also I believe M Elms is Martin Elms.
The league is still going. We had 8 teams last season. Two of these teams were new playing at The Nags head. We have just started the summer league and have had another pub join, so we are hoping they will have enough players for the winter league as well.

Yes Tonbridge isn't far from me. I didn't know where it was being held before that. For all I knew it might have been Maidstone or Chatham. In that case I would have stayed in Sittingbourne on sat night. Any way I'll print off the form and get it sent off soon.

Hi there where is the Kent classic being held? I've missed the chance to go in the Sussex open as I've had no internet for a month where I've just moved. If its not to far away I might be able to try and enter this, as I can stay in kent for a weekend.

Yes I would like very much to do something like the one day inter league. As you say we'd have to get 7 players together to do that. That could prove a stumbling block. Getting 7 players to travel to Horsham might be difficult. A few of my team might like to give it a go, but trying to get anyone else from other teams probably wont be easy.
I'll speak to a few people next week when we have a game and see what they think.

Hi Martin,
Good to hear from you. Glad to see your still playing the game and now enjoying it again.
The league is getting better thanks to a certain departure. We might even have another team joining next year which would be great.
My brother and my dad are both well. My brother no longer plays as he doesn't live round here anymore.
The new team that are joining are apparently from broad oak. The Rainbow Trout. (I think).

The Fountain no longer has a table and I now play just round the corner from where the Warrior Gate used to be.The Warrior Gate closed a while ago now. The remainder of that team play at The Fox. You may know Tony Gates, who once ran the warrior gate. He has played inter league. Denis Cole is the other that played there for years.
Yes Julian and Sean were both 20k merchants as you say. Kim Beeching has now gone to live in Spain. I've also been in a team with Martin Leach as well for a brief time when he was down this way.

I managed to make what was my highest competitive break at the time on it. That was only 9k. Now have scored quite a few breaks higher than that. But I did get to see Terry Race score a 15k break only to mis-judge a split and ring it round the 100 through that dredded white peg. How many times have i done that?? LOL :-/

Definate no to banning this shot. To me this is the main shot in break building and if this was banned, how many people would stand a good chance of ever becoming a part of the 20k club.
I know I would never be quick enough to do it playing 50/10's and 50/20's. If I played a table out now playing a perfect succession of 3 breaks the 1 up and then the Oxford as people seem to call it. I personally call it a split or double shot. Then i'd only just make 20/21k. Im one of the quickest in my league!!!! Im slow in comparison to other players out there I know.

I must agree that there are plenty of people that really make no effort with either setting up a table or even bothering to clean it before a game. Most tables I play on have really dirty pockets and get the occasional clean. I find this really really annoying. Its so frustrating when you dont get rewarded for a perfectly decent shot, that would go down no trouble if they were clean. I always clean our home tables pockets with meths and then stick a little linseed in. This usually seems to work quite well. Only my home table and one other even get ironed weekly in my league. Even with ironing they aren't particularly quick either. Quicker than the other tables obviously.
The best table I've ever had the pleasure of playing was in Brighton back in about 2003. Unfortunately that was the only time i've played outside of Hastings. This was at The Albion. I believe they had 2 tables, both Tarrat and the one we played on was meant to be the slow one. To me it was like playing on glass compared to anything I have ever played. Was also dead straight. Defo the best I've played on personally.
