Hi Tony No ladies team from Wycombe I'm afraid - I have really tried :(. I have played for Witney Ladies before and we were called 'witwyc'. If they are struggling and it is somehow possible (and if they want me!) I will be there all day anyway so would be to play :). Dawn

Hi Chris
I would be a no for the ladies, sorry. Like Jean, I thought the over 50's is usually November? Would be a bit concerned if it was 26th July as this might effect the Bucks Open as some people may not want to enter both being so close together - just a thought?

Thanks for all your feedback - really helpful.
Tony - no its not the old Searle Club. That used to be on the Sands Industrial Estate about a mile down the road - I used to love that place - where I first met Ernie all those years ago!!
Merv - have been to the club twice now to check it out, but will double check with them about the floor. Would like it if you didn't mention to the golf club about the possible change of venue as no decisions have been made yet :)

We are looking for some feedback regarding our Open.
We are thinking of changing the venue to one of our more local community centres (Cressex Community Club). We have never held it there before, but it offers:-
1. A lot bigger venue, so possibly could have more tables (depending on entries) to make the day shorter. 2. Beer/alcohol is considerably cheaper as it is a club, which will appeal to some I am sure. 3. Not quite as far for some to travel as it is only about 2 miles from the town centre. 4. A wider variety of food, and at a much more reasonable price (roast dinner approx £5).
Would some of you not enter because it's not at the Golf Club, or would more enter because the venue is much bigger? Does it make a difference where it's held, because it's really about the Bar Billiards?
Your comments would be appreciated before we make our final decision.
Thanks, Dawn.

I tried it for the Bucks Open - it works! :)
Here in Bucks we are also a very small league, with Wycombe being the only one. Only 8 teams left of the 64 when I first started playing :(. We often struggle for teams for the Team Championship, Mens Div 2 and as far as women go, well with only four ladies now playing it's almost impossible to get a team together. For the men, we always manage to get a team, it might not be our best team, but so far have never had to drop out.
As the only lady that enters from Bucks I would be really disappointed for:-
1. The Specail Ladies to become a pairs competition. I am still very proud to represent my county (although I do feel a little guilty sometimes when say the Sussex ladies have had to play many games to win the right to represent Sussex in the All Enland, and the Bucks representative has played at the most 3 matches). I would not be able to find a lady to partner from Bucks, so would not be able to enter. It would also be a real shame to lose a ranking tournament, we struggle enough to get some as it is :). I would be very much be against losing this competition.
2. For it to be moved from this area. For many years we travelled with a group from Bucks and we entered all the Opens and to all the ladies competitions. For personal reasons we stopped going for a few years, but have over the last two years started entering again. I think it is very fair that one ladies ranking tournament is held in Oxon/Berks and one to be held in Sussex/Surrey/Kent. It was very disappointing this year to have a very low number enter, but think it was more to do with the grouping together of so many AEBBA competitions. I know that even though Didcot is only a 45 minute drive for us, having been there quite a few times, and still quite a few to go over the next few weeks it is getting a bit much.
Anyway, don't say much on here, but now you have my opinion :)

Only having one league in Bucks with 8 teams it's quite easy for us :). We have a seperate knockout competition and the final is held on our final's day. The winner then goes on to represent Bucks in the Team Championship.

I just want to say well done to Jean on winning the Ladies AE Individuals yesterday. She played really well all day, especially coming back against Carla and Anita. Sorry I had to leave before seeing you receive the trophy, but I got a call to say the ceiling had fallen down in my lounge :( I did ask Dave before I left, so I knew you had won. Well done to Pauline as well, never nice to lose it on aggregate.
