I stand corrected if that is the case Keith, I wasn't aware of it. I am just a little surprised that there is a rule on this with it being a KO comp.

Eynsham C v Northampton A Whats this C v A surely the first the first round should be seeded but at least they have the round robin comp ! I think it is purely luck of the draw in the main comp. As far as I am aware the only seeding in the draw is if two teams in the 'C' competition from same Area are drawn in same group then they play their matches first to stop collaboration (or accusations of) at later stages.

I will point out that it is Glenn's board, however, I nor any other mod that I am aware of have not been given any special instructions to this effect, I will continue to admin to our agreed methods that all staff have agreed to.

Pete just to point out there has never been a problem with your sense of humour or anyone elses for that matter, the problem comes from members having to 'guess' when you are joking, this is where members take offence. As can clearly be seen on the forum, the Northants boys get OTT but you can tell from their use of smilies and small fun images they use that it is meant as a joke, or when they are angry they have an angry smiley. They are posting things that are more OTT then you do in many cases but allowed because it is clear it is not insulting but fun to them all. I and all admins are in total agreement to these actions, you may believe you were singled out but that was not the case, you are a victim of your own actions in not emphasising with the use of smileys, nothing more. Personally I dont want to modify any posts on any forum, we all want fun mixed in with serious debates too, this is the only major forum for BB and will get bigger.

The AOL over active spam filter system is notorious with 'eating' forum logins, most forums suffer from this.

It has been mentioned before on the forum Clive but I would tend to agree with you it cannot be good for players as regards confidence to know you could be a sacrifice. I guess it would all depend on the tactics of the captain at the time what percentage of risk he wants to take. Doesn't sound my cup of tea though, do the captains end up with any friends ? ;) ;D

We ocassionally have the four peg game as a fund raiser in Worthing. Might explain why tommo might want this game then ;) KT. In reply to your statements, I agree on the trophy, a bad choice by the AEBBA. Your list of winners I presume have all been played 'off the spot' again emphasising that this is suiting better players, the whole point of the game was to make it 'easy' and only remove the break shots. When in Kent I won the 'alternative rules comp' played off the spot, as my experience put me in far better stead than most of the locals. In the league we used the 'D' and it is at least 50% easier to play then. Keeping the triangle towards the 100 also makes it easier without using cushions etc, as any off the spot player knows. In Kent it is a very popular format, far more so than handicap systems, which never work and is exactly where AEBBA have done with it, handicapped the lesser players without thinking.

Who invented the 'silly rules' anyway ? Tart points for Sav I believe :D Now to contradict your comments about the game. The game was invented with one thing in mind, to take away only 3 shots from the normal game we play now. ie Break, 1-up and double shot. Everything else about the game is exactly as it is now once the break has been taken disturbing the triangle. The whole purpose was to 'take away' the high scoring boring bit which separates the lesser players from the top players, so giving them a chance to win competitions. From the original concept some bright spark 'not Sparky' decided to change it to 'off the spot' so negating the whole purpose of making it easy for lesser players. There endeth your history lessen sir.

Why does it not use logic and just place the 'apex of the frame of the triangle at the edge of the 100 hole' ?
Congratulations to Brian on his win.

But I was only trying to hysterically illustrate the stunning similarity between the words "petition" and "petticoat" but it didn't really work after it left my brain. It was wonderful before that!!!! Why does it worry me that you are thinking about petticoat's at all ! ;)

KT at the Wallingford AGM did tell everyone if they want to enter to contact Dave and made Dave's phone number available to them. He also pointed out that Dave had said he would take the money on the day, for those that phoned through an entry. I think this is good of Dave to do this, however players should not take advantage of this either, if they say they are going and fail to do so, they should pay up !

The slate appears to be thicker than the Jelkes type ones. Legs are very rigid too, so good choice to hide under.
